2  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: My very first quilt to actually get finished on: May 25, 2010 09:58:49 AM
Thanks everyone.  The success here has inspired me to pull out an old project and finally finish it.  It was supposed to be done for my son's birth... now he's almost 2.  Oh well, they can't use blankets when they're babies anyway Smiley

Congratulations!  It looks great and I love the owls.  I just finished my first quilt, too, and I wouldn't call my corners a thing of beauty.  There are just somethings you learn by doing it a couple of times.

I am very proud of this even though it is simple.  Mostly I have grand plans for quilts followed by having lots of quilt blocks half sewn together in a basket somewhere.  This one really got done!  It measures about 36x36 (sort of stroller sized) and is a collection of lovely flannels.  It was sort of a pain to sew due to the flannel and its thickness but turned out really soft and nice in the end.

Maybe your friend and I should start a club.  That is totally my kind of baby quilt.  Love it.

Nice scarf - I have a bit of a self control problem when faced with Habu, myself  - so I totally get your mom's predicament.  But what I really wanted to say was... What a good dog!  Felon, you are the best 4 legged model ever.

psst - you could probably get 2 skeins of the bamboo if you negotiate hard.

Amazing job.  I love how lacy yours came out - it looks great.

9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: what would you ask for for your birthday? on: August 14, 2007 12:02:34 PM
I was just my birthday last week and the lovely husband got me both a ball winder and a swift.  I agree with DAME EMMA, endlessly entertaining.

There is a bunch of pattern deciphering information in the KAL but w.r.n. is the same as a yarn over.  I used worsted weight Cascade 220.
