21  Re: The Sketchbook Project Craftalong 2010 in Craftalongs by DanniQuee on: August 09, 2010 11:15:00 AM
Great pages everyone! Aroze, I can't wait to see where your backgrounds go from here. Starfish, the butterfly page is beautiful and I love your interpretation of the theme! Thisbird, your pages are great so far! I agree with the others, the doggy sketch is definitely sad.

Here are my two newest pages, the first of a nightmare sequence I have playing through my head. It's loosely based on various wildlife phobias and fears. As it goes on further I'll be adding more dark colors, probably some inks and pencils, and some paper bits. For now though, just some watercolor...

I decided to drop the prose for now and let the art just happen. Once it's done I'll work on what, if any, wording I'll put in.

Noo, that bird cage page is beautiful! I chuckled at the dog head. Cheesy

Starfish, your page is so ephemeral and relaxing... I love the soft colors and the few larger detailed fish amongst the many smaller fish. It's wonderful.

Here are two new pages I've worked on. One is a a hasty mix of media piece based around the letter 'B' and the other was done with a few colored pencils while I was camping last weekend. I have never had a problem with deer while camping before, but the deer on this island were adorable little jerks.

So, work consumed my day yesterday too  Roll Eyes but today I scanned my pages! Here they are:

Night falls...

and while you sleep...

into your head they do creep.

The third page isn't really two different shades, the scan is just a bit wonky. Cheesy

I received my awesome package from Abbeeroad right before I left on my camping trip. I've recharged my camera batteries and have photos to share! Cheesy

First up is this cute wreath made with sticks and acorns from my home state:

Second is this beautiful hemp necklace done in macrame with autumn colored beads. It fits wonderfully, but there will be no action shot this go around, as I am covered in so many bug bites that I have no desire to be photographed...

Lastly, my favorite item, a wee version of my Patron God Lugh! He's made from cork, a bead and some embroidery floss and his itty bitty little sheild is made from what I'm guessing is a coconut button - correct me if I'm wrong, Abbee. He even has a tiny sun tattooed on his chest! Cheesy

And everything came wrapped in a pretty batik fabric that has found a place right in the center of my altar. Smiley Thank you so much for a wonderful swap Abbee!

25  Re: One Tiny Doctor Who Thing Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by DanniQuee on: July 17, 2010 03:22:35 PM
I went to the mailbox and found the TARDIS waiting patiently for me...

I cracked it open and inside was the cutest, most huggable Doctor I ever did see...

He had a message for me:
'Help, please do help! The TARDIS seems to have shrunk. On the inside even! wait, wait.. oh dear. My head has gotten rather large too. Must be all the fangirls!

Don't be alarmed if the TARDIS looks more like cardboard. While I was on my way in the past, the chameleon circuit got a bit of a bump. Not enough to completely fix it, but enough to conceal it a tiny bit better with its surroundings.

Thank you lilbandade! He's perfectly 10, from his zany hair to his snappy blue suit. I love him. Grin

I just snuck back in here after quite the absence. It's been a hectic year to say the least. There are so many awesome pages and new faces, I have quite a bit of catching up to do! Cheesy

Here are two of my most recent pages. I'm sad to say that throughout the craziness of the past few months my journal has been a more than a bit neglected, poor thing.

First a page about a condition that I recently discovered I suffer from after spending a night in the hospital...

I really didn't handle the news that I will have this for the rest of my life very well. Especially when  constant pain and possible surgeries were thrown in as future possibilities.

And a second, less angry, page. I was inspired by the mythology of the fates:

This one is just black pen and a piece of string. The fates spin, measure and cut the threads of life and the whole things is very black and white, so I decided not to add any color.

The designs in the hands were inspired by zentangles, which I find to me more stressful to me than zen. Go figure.  Roll Eyes

27  A Mad Tea Party (Pic chubby) in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by DanniQuee on: June 28, 2010 11:56:03 AM
I recently participated in a pictorial blog party hosted by Vanessa over at A Fanciful Twist. (http://afancifultwist.typepad.com/a_fanciful_twist/2010/04/the-mad-tea-party-2010-an-invitation-surprise.html)

For my party, I went with a through the looking glass theme and crafted some guests of honor (the Lion and the Unicorn) as well as decorated a few tea cups as well as my house. We ended up doing a two part photo shoot, one indoors and one out.  Here are my mad tea party photos along with the accompanying story. Can you catch all the references?

Tis time for a very important date, whispered the dawn into my sleeping ear conjuring images of tea and cake and joy. "Oh, frabjous day!" exclaimed I springing from beneath the covers with excitement.  I woke my beloved with a start as I pulled on my favorite striped stockings and we stepped through the mirror.

Little did we know a perfect picnic awaited us on the other side.

We met with some very special guests, taking a break from their usual bickering. We shared all manner of sweets and treats...

We played cards, talked about this silly business with the crown...

We sipped tea until Humpty Dumpty had no more tea to give us;

Our picnic came to an end with the arrival of a small Jabberwock.

Our fun, not to be spoiled by a small intruder, continued as we revelers walked a magical path leading to where I thought I had left my home!

"Oh, ho ho!" A voice cried as I opened the door, "despicably low on tea, I see!"

"Hatterrrr," purred the cat, "I thinkest they may prefer a bite to eat! My dear, silly girl..." added he "your party continues here, beyond the looking glass!"

As we mingled and munched, I met with the white rabbit, on leave from his queen. We also spied the dormouse, a stow-a-way revealed when Humpty Dumpty had a bit of a fall...

A scuffle caught my attention... the lion and the unicorn were at it once again!

But were easily soothed with a calming cup of tea.

We chattered and laughed until the wee hours and only parted when we heard the jubjub bird grumbling in the distance.

As he left the Unicorn spoke, "Well, now that we have seen each other, if you'll believe in me, I'll believe in you." It sent my curious mind a spinning, and I pondered as I lay down to rest... if we all believed in each other (and a wee bit of magic) how much more fanciful a world this would be.

Hope you enjoyed your visit to my tea party! Thank you for stopping by. Smiley

28  Re: WWP Summer Solstice/Litha Round 20 (Signups 5-16-10 to 5-23-10, SO 6-14-10) in The Swap Gallery by DanniQuee on: June 18, 2010 07:58:42 AM
Ffrogg filled you in on our adventures, so I'll fill the gap in craft goodness. I got totally spoiled. Smalls... what are those? Wink

First up there was this giant sign peeking out of the top of the gift bag that I wanted to peek at SO bad. Here it is!

As if that's not pretty enough, it's double sided!

The flash washed out the silver swirls on this side, but trust me, they're there. This will be awesome for anytime of the year.

Then, there was this pretty, summery box filled with a pouch of yummy lavender inside:

This awesome sun mirror that will be planted on my altar in time for Litha! Again, the flash is not always flattering.

And finally the piece Pièce de résistance, this awesomely painted and detailed box:

But wait, there's something inside...

It's an awesome summery shrine! And all the elements are represented in the tiny bits and bobs inside. Also, it smells awesome because she put a bunch of lavender in it! Cheesy I love it!

And here she is with all of the pretties she made:

It was totally an awesome day. Cheesy We'll have to do it again sometime!

29  Re: WWP Summer Solstice/Litha Round 20 (Signups 5-16-10 to 5-23-10, SO 6-14-10) in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by DanniQuee on: June 07, 2010 02:01:28 PM
Thanks everyone for the well wishes. I'm doubtful the police will find the person or recover my stuff, but if they do, I'll be pretty excited.

Edel, you are one hell of a strong woman. I'm with the others, the Queen of Wands is most likely you. I often pull the Queen of Cups for myself. Wink I tend to read intuitively, as I'm terrible at memorization and I feel different decks can tell us very different things, just as people can. Here is the Queen of Wands for my deck...

To me, this Queen is confident, nurturing and care free.

The little white book mentions that she's a creative and self motivated woman filled with courage and determination..

Saturn, I completely agree. I love the WWP swaps and even when I'm gone for a bit, I feel myself inexorably pulled back to this little group time and time again.

30  Re: WWP Beltane Swap Round 19 in The Swap Gallery by DanniQuee on: April 29, 2010 10:02:50 AM
Hello Edel! I was wondering where you were this round. *hugs* I haven't been around much at all since Autumn. Too many things going on with life, including a move, so I didn't have much time to craft. I'm hoping now that things are starting to settle I can stick around and play for a bit.

Everyone's packages have been so thoughtful and well done although I especially like the maypole. What a fantastic idea! And that orchid... Luna, you're a poly clay magician. I don't understand how you do it.

Here are the photos of my package, just as I promised. Sorry that I took them on my carpet, it's the only place with natural light in my blasted apartment!

A pentacle for my altar, with the elements represented. She made it from terra cotta, since I try to keep most of my tools as natural as possible.

A beautiful silky tarot bag. It's big enough to fit my current deck and the little hard cover book where I write down my readings. I may even be able to fit a second deck in when I get my new one! Cheesy

The adorable cauldron candles. The red one smalls like berries! Smiley

A plethora of extras, including witchy white chocolate lolipops, a Beltane candle and the yummiest incense I have ever smelled:

And finally, my favorite item of all, a fancy handmade hat!

The tulle is braided and hangs down in the back, like a princess hat. It's removable for days when I'm not feeling so fancy. I absolutely adore this!

Thank you so much Rippledwater! Cheesy
