11  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Week In The Life Photo Swappy! (Signups CLOSED, Mail By 04/14) on: March 10, 2005 07:25:27 PM

Details of swap:
Take 36 pictures, average 5 a day, over the period of a week. Whether you use film or digital doesn't matter, as long as you can put your pictures into an album. Meaning, you'll need to have prints if you do digital. Show your life at its finest (at its dullest is fine too... we're not all fascinating people). Make doubles of your pictures (triples if you want to keep a copy, or if you would want to be prepared to compensate for flakers, you kind-hearted generous person you). If you like, you can write some descriptions on the back of the pictures, to explain your reason for taking exactly that picture, or to explain your feelings about the picture. Put the pictures into some cheap 36-page photo albums*, and swap! You'll send the albums out to two different people, and in return you'll get albums from two different people. In this swap, I think it would be amazing if everyone would be willing to send to people from different countries (though if you can't or won't I understand), because it would just be awesome to see different cultures living out their week!

If I'm missing anything, let me know! This is my first organized Craftster swap, and I'm a little nervous, though I've done some postcard swaps in the past (not on this site). Anyways, have fun!

*A note... I personally love pulling apart cheap albums and putting my own covers on. Nobody has to do this, but if you want to, feel encouraged. Feel very, very encouraged!

12  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Photo Swap...? on: March 10, 2005 01:24:20 PM
I don't know if this has been done/overdone, but I couldn't find anything, so I wanted some input.

I was looking around for a Photo Swap to participate in, where all the participants take a bunch of pictures around town that reflect their typical day/their life, then develop them, and each send a picture to all of the other participants, the goal being to each fill up a photo album with pictures from different countries/lifestyles. Sort of like a "day in the life" thing, I guess. I can't express it very well, but if anyone knows of one, or is thinking of starting one, or thinks I should start one, let me know!

Premature thanks for the input!
13  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Leggies And A Skirt on: March 07, 2005 07:01:37 PM
I was inspired earlier today by the fleece legwarmers I saw on this forum (too lazy to link, sorry).

Here's my take, not fleece, rather a super-stretchy fabric I found at the thrift store... too pretty to pass up, but I never had a use for it 'til now.

I was gonna add some ribbon and pom-poms, but I figgered it'd be too much. They're nice and simple, and (I think) they're very pretty as is.

ANYHOW, enough with my babbling and on to the picture!

The skirt is my own (crocheted) creation too. It looks long enough, but it's a little short in the back, grr @ my large rear. I ran out of yarn, so I can't make it longer. Any ideas for how I could make it look a little longer or something? I love the skirt, but I don't think I'll ever be able to wear it for fear of everyone seeing my underwear when I go to sit down, or walk, or breathe.

Oh, and excuse the grainy/blurriness of the photo, the mirror was a little dirty.
14  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Leftover Snap Thingers... on: September 01, 2004 12:24:39 AM
I bought a package of 10 heavy-duty snap things, and I've used more of the male parts than the female.  Meaning, I have 6 female parts left, and no male, and I don't want to waste them.  Any ideas for what I could do with these?  And if you have no idea what I'm talking about, I totally understand, I'm so tired, but I don't wanna go to bed.  You know?

Edit:  Okay, just for my own peace of mind, I'm including a link to my latest post, it shows the things I'm talking about, the black things are what I have so many of.  I feel better now.
Linkie linkie. I almost forgot to add that.
15  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Feelin' a little bit punk. Or not. on: September 01, 2004 12:02:14 AM
I thought I would come and show off my latest creation to all of you amazing crafters.  It's not something I would ever wear, so maybe I'll sell it someday.

16  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Little knitted top hat...? (please help!!) on: July 15, 2004 01:25:58 PM
I'm working on a knitted stuffed...  thing...  for a friend for his "Happy 2 months after your birthday" present...  and it would look awesome with a top hat.  Does anyone have any ideas for how I could go about knitting a little top hat?  So far, I'm thinking a rectangle for the main part of it, and a circle-type thing for the top, but I'm stuck on how to do the brim...  any help would be greatly appreciated!

edit:  okay, his party is 3 days away now, so if anyone has any idea whatsoever how I could make the brim, PLEASE PLEASE share.  I'm desperate.  I'll give you cookies...  and love.  Lots of love.
17  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Cool-Weather Hat on: June 25, 2004 09:57:12 PM
I crocheted this hat out of boredom, from an UGLY sweater from the thrift store that I recycled.  Luckily the weather cooled off again after I made it, cuz it really keeps the head warm.

I'm going to be making another one like it for my grandma, she's really proud that I learned to crochet and knit.

P.S.  Please excuse the crazy eyes, lol.
18  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / gift knitting! on: June 24, 2004 12:57:34 PM
Hi, this is my first post here, and I am a fairly new knitter.  I want to make something for a friend of mine who had a birthday a month ago, and she just graduated from high school.  Trouble is, I can't think of anything.  I don't know what she's into anymore (we've lived 15 hours apart for 6 years, and haven't even seen each other for about 3, we only keep in contact through letters), and I don't know what I have the yarn for (I'm poor, and a regular thrift-store yarn shopper, so I only have small amounts of any particular yarn).  I was thinking of making a purse, but I can't find any patterns I like.  Any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated.
