1  Re: 2011 DeStash-Along in Craftalongs by Purpley Goodness on: July 20, 2011 04:49:04 AM
I can't believe how productive everyone has been on this board; way back in January I posted a list of projects that I was sure I would get my teeth stuck into but life got in the way as it does!  But now I can present my first finished item, which wasn't even on the list, of course  Roll Eyes  It's the Buginarug cowl from Berocco and it is incredibly easy; great for beginners - just a whole heap of casting on and off.  I used Shadow Tweed Fuschia by Patons, the colours are much darker than my photos, more of a grape to boysenberry colour.  I love the variegated wool, it gave it more oomph.  Hopefully I will be posting again soon now that the drought is broken!  I also got to use up some Fimo as well, to make the buttons, yay me!  Smiley

(this is closer to the colour for both the wool and the buttons)

2  Knit Yourself a Yoda, you must! in Knitting: Completed Projects by Purpley Goodness on: February 03, 2010 01:35:09 PM
Hi there,

I have loved the knitted yodas that have appeared on craftster over the years, but am not good with dpns so decided to create my own.  It's a gift for our IT support guy, who fixed one of the PCs at work for free out of goodwill, so I offered him a knitted yoda.  Why can't more business transactions be like that?  Grin  He has a star wars themed room at home, so Yoda will feel nice and comfy there.

He's a bit messy because I didn't really think it through, and because I wanted to get it sent today, didn't tidy him up as much as I could have.  But I like him, he looks kind of jaunty.   Grin

Anyway, here he is!

3  Purpley Jade Bedside Lamp in CHALLENGE 37 ENTRIES by Purpley Goodness on: April 05, 2009 05:41:57 PM
Hi there,
This is the first time I have posted a project, so apologies in advance if I get it wrong...
I have a purple/lavender/jade/aqua spectrum printed duvet cover that I really adore.  It's a lot girlier than I am used to, but the colour combo makes my eyes pop.  Anyway, I have been meaning to make a co-ordinating lampshade for some time and had assumed that I would bead it, but when this challenge came up, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity!  I sourced my beads from op shops and made a few special ones from polymer clay as well, which are "Dr Suessed-up" versions of motifs on the duvet.
I then used a netting technique to apply the beads as an overlay to the bare navy lampshade.  Initially I was going to remove the lampshade, but it provided a cool contrast.  I used general beaded netting techniques, but just applied them to buttons.  There is a netted lampshade in a back issue of Bead and Button magazine, but it uses floral plastic beads and does not retain the original shade.
I haven't quite finished - there's going to be a trim around the bottom of the shade with larger beads, but I ran out of time as I have been ill over the last month.  Anyway, here they are, thanks for looking!
