1  One Punch Man shoes in Shoes: Completed Projects by sheriffkarli on: April 29, 2016 08:25:25 AM
This all started when I found an amazing pair of plain black converse (in my size!) at a thrift store. I wasn't sure what to paint on them at first, they were all black so I could do anything at all! Then my brother introduced me to One Punch Man and I was hooked right away. I knew that i wanted to paint the converse OPM, but I'm not very good at anime style art. I decided to go for it anyways and I'm soo glad I did because they ended up turning out better then I had hoped!

2  Megaman Cross Stitched Converse in Needlework: Completed Projects by sheriffkarli on: January 27, 2016 01:21:56 PM
I wasn't sure if I should post these here or on the shoes forum, but my favorite part about my latest project is the cross stitched bits! I just started cross stitching last month, but I've already fallen in love with it. It was a craft I had always been interested in, but thought it was beyond my skill level. I'm so glad i decided to give it a try!
My best friend asked if i could make him a megaman themed pair of shoes and i thought cross stitch would be the perfect way to showcase the pixels of the old school game. I stitched onto cross stitch fabric, then cut out the figures after sealing the fabric with fray check. I painted the background on the shoes and stitched on my cross stitch appliques. This is one of my first real cross stitch projects, and I've taught myself so I'm sure I made a lot of mistakes with my technique. I've been learning mostly by trial and error so far. I'm really happy with how they came out, despite my lack of experience.

3  Animal Crossing Converse in Shoes: Completed Projects by sheriffkarli on: August 14, 2015 02:42:22 PM
Two years ago I bought a pair of grey converse to paint for my sister. She requested I do then Claymore themed, but after trying and failing (anime style is not my forte) I decided to go with Animal Crossing. My sister and i have been playing the animal crossing games for over 10 years and are huge fans of the franchise. I chose two of her favourite villagers (Rosie and Bunnie), and went crazy painting. I added a bit of glitter to the clouds in the background just for fun. I gave them to her a couple of weeks ago and she loved them!

4  Day of the Dead Frames in Completed Projects by sheriffkarli on: January 28, 2015 02:29:14 PM
So I have no clue what category these fall under so here we are! I picked up these amazing brightly coloured frames at Michaels for only $3 each and i knew right away what i wanted to do with them. The skulls are made from felt, beads, sequins and lots of embroidery. I'm really happy with how they turned out, i'm hoping to find more frames the nest time i go shopping!

I am thinking about putting them up for sale on my website but not sure if they are good enough to sell. I'd love to hear some feedback!

5  Legend of Zelda shoes in Shoes: Completed Projects by sheriffkarli on: November 11, 2014 12:06:27 PM
I finished making these a few weeks ago but forgot to post them! I had so much fun painting them, I'm a huge zelda fan. The shoes are canvas from wal-mart. I used gold paint for the triforce which i think ended up looking really good and i'm super happy with how they turned out. I think i need to work on the pixel style of art though, next time i'd like to draw out a proper grid before painting.

7  Pet Portraits in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by sheriffkarli on: September 07, 2014 11:14:13 AM
These two painting are my first attempts at using gouache paints. I'm really happy with how they turned out, since i have never painted anything like this before. I was going for sort of a paint by numbers look.  The cat is my girl Peachie and the dog is my sister's dog Bo.

8  Frida Kahlo Inspired hoop in Completed Projects by sheriffkarli on: July 02, 2014 01:04:37 PM
So I made this hoop with a lot of different techniques so i wasn't sure where to post it. I used an awesome Alexander Henry fabric for the background and then beaded and emroidered all over it. I sewed/embroidered the Frida skull from wool felt, and stitched on vintage plastic flowers, with pearls in the centers. I made the little red flower and stuck a vintage button in the middle. I'd love to hear and comments/criticism on it!

Here I embroidered the strings on the puppet

Sequins and beading

Thanks for looking!

9  Dr. Mario Painting in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by sheriffkarli on: July 02, 2014 12:48:04 PM
I'm a huge video game fan, and when i saw this long skinny canvas for sale i knew just what i wanted to do with it. The Dr. Mario Viruses were some of my favourite game characters growing up so I decided to paint them!
The canvas is 10 by 30 and i used acrylic paints.

And here is me holding it, so you can get an idea of how big it is.

10  Hoot! Owl needlework in Needlework: Completed Projects by sheriffkarli on: May 01, 2014 02:16:40 PM
I stitched this owl up with wool felt and lots of embroidery. I used some metallic thread which i love the look of but hate working with! I stuck him in a sort of shadow box type frame and really like how it looks. Getting a picture of it was tough though!
