What cuties!  They look so inquisitive.  And I have learnt something new... what a rat boggle is (and have just spent the last 20mins or so watching youtube videos!).  I hope Scruffy is doing well, it sounds like you are giving her great care.  How old are your rats?  Do they all live in the same cage?

More about my beasts.  They are rescue guinea pig brothers. I have had them for just over 2 years, and I guess that they were about 6mths old when we got them.  They were originally called Tom & Jerry, but I felt this implied a hierarchy ( Cheesy), so they got renamed, Mark & Jeremy (after the tv show, Peep Show - I previously had guinea pigs named after characters in the tv show Porridge).  They are very much best of friends, and often sleep cuddled up with each other.

Mark is the grumpiest guinea pig I have ever had!  When he wants to he can be lovely, will sleep on your lap, lick your fingers and snuggle up.  But when doesn't, he will give me a barge with his nose, teeth chatter, bite & even pee on me!  He had a bladder stone removed earlier this year, and was quite unwell, and gave us a little bit of a fright.  But now he is back to his grumpy self!  Here he is being guinea pig shamed!

Jeremy is lovely.  He is a quite a soppy guinea pig, who is also a bit of a scaredy cat with a big appetite.  He is not the brightest, but he super sweet.  Here he is looking very clean after his yearly bath...

I've done 23 rows (and have been changing colours!).  It looks like I've hardly made any progress, but according to my handy spreadsheet ( Cheesy) in the stitch count stakes I'm over a quarter of the way there! The rows are starting to feel a bit quicker.

I definitely think that the cast on is the worst bit of this blanket, so I can see why you are putting it off. Just give yourself plenty of time, and find a point in the day with no distractions!

I have just sent in my questionnaire Smiley

gerbilgal - what adorable gerbils.  I especially like the super sleepy second picture - it must be hard work being a gerbil!

Carbine_corgi - Cute piggies! I like the trying to eat the oral syringe.  I know a couple of piggies just like that!  Wink

May I introduce my beasts... Mark Corriandergan and Jeremy

Looking good!  Great idea to switch to bigger needles.  The yarn I ordered has arrived, and I've cast on 660 stitches.  I've only done 4 rows (I really, really hope there isn't a twist hiding somewhere!).  This is a photo before I joined it up.  I'm hoping this will be my easy tv knit project.

Because I quite like numbers I've made a spreadsheet to track my progress. The first column is how many stitches are on each row (because you drop 10 every other row, I just averaged it out as 5 per row).  And then the second column is the cumulative total.  For the big rows at the start, it is easy to think you are not getting anywhere, but by keeping track this way, I can think 'yeah I've done a 1000 stitches today' - hurrah!)  It does mean that I know that because I cast on 660 stitches, I will knit just under 44,000 to finish it!  Smiley  And at the end I can plot a graph of stitches against time (yep, I said I liked numbers!!!  Grin)

I'm looking forward to this garter stitch section to be finish too!

16  Assorted baby knits... in Knitting: Completed Projects by Trekky on: July 20, 2013 08:14:29 AM
I have been busy making gifts for newborn babies of friends and family...

Firstly a couple of little sister dresses, these are very cute, and are great at using up spare 4ply.

Blue blanket this is a very nice pattern and easy to do.  You only need a cable needle every ten rows.

And finally, using up some aran stash, baby sophisticate cardigan.

There are going to be some very well dressed babies this year!  Cheesy

I thought I'd add photos of the cards I sent FairyHazeDesigns...

Four silk painting with salt cards (I had some extra silk painted, so made some tags too).

Some Unicorn prints (using pizza base to print)

Two textured fabric paper cards (inspired by the tutorial from PurpleHeather)

And a collage.

I received my fabulous package from blupaisan today.

The package had ric rac on it!  Smiley

Firstly a super cute handmade card, so adorable!

One of the items on my wish list was a sunglasses case...

This is amazing. Such beautiful stitches and buttons and beads!

Plus more buttons (I love buttons!).

And sweets!

I am currently chewing a tootsie roll at the moment - delicious!

Thank you blupaisan, such a great package.  I forgot to photograph the pretty bird wrapping paper, plus the envelope of the card (was that ink blowing?).  Thank you, I feel quite spoilt!!!!  Smiley

I received my cards from gala_apples, and they are very cool!

Firstly some cute little cards:

And then eight cards with envelopes, all very different and varied.

My favourites... these circles, I really like bold patterns...

And, put a bird on it!  Cheesy  I like birds and putting birds on things, I think I might just have to keep this card for myself!

Thanks you gala_apples & thanks for organising this great swap, it has been very inspiring & good fun!
