oh that doesn't sound good, just one skein short? I hate when that happens, but worst case I'm sure you could use a different dye lot.

Anyway, this is where I am at the moment:

Getting there, and very soon I'm arriving at the front divide, yay!

I also got myself some beautiful stitchmarkers to keep my motivation up, lol

Wow, MissMeshell you were productive! Reminds me of the first week when I got my wheel, lol.

Anyway, I was able to borrow some handcarders and the Ashford jumbo flyer unit this week and have been quite active myself. I'm loving both! Be prepared for some blending...

Flowers in the sky, hand dyed merino, 2ply

Cinderella, a tiny skein made from merino and flax and Provence, a heathered skein with bamboo:

Then on to dragonfly, hand dyed merino with seed beads and those gorgeous dragonfly beads I swapped recently

And then my super-fluffy favourite, citrus explosion on the rocks, because it looks a summerdrink with big icecubes Smiley

And right now I'm just plying this:
Should end up being a fluffy 2ply with beads and little leaves...

Here we go, some pictures!
This is the yarn I've chosen, colour is 'heather'. And some lovely bamboo needles I had to get Smiley

This is a more up to date picture, after days of knitting with barely any breaks, lol.
I'm now past the decrease - so now it's just straight sailing....

I've finally managed to take a picture of the other skein I've spun up on my spindle - green and blue mosaic, a lovely bulky single:

Thanks again for dying this wonderful roving for me, tenrec!

I just posted this in FF, but just to keep this thread going:
Here are 2oz of yarn (319m thin singles) spun from the beautiful red roving I got from tenrec! Thanks again!
Indian spice:

I'm still spinning the second half, it's so soft and well, silky Cheesy

Ooooohhh, pretty!

Here are mine:
Tangerine, hand dyed merino, navajo plied:

Red wine, spun on my Turkish spindle, hand dyed merino:

And here the yarn from that lovely roving tenrec sent me for the hand dyed roving swap, it's a merino/silk mix and was amazing to spin! This is the first half of the roving with some of the pre-drafted roving... 319m and 2oz.

Here a close-up:

It's very thin but strong, as I spun it quite tightly and thanks to the silk, I am planning on knitting this lace scarf out of it:

yay! Hope you have fun spinning it up. Smiley
I just received tenrec's beautiful package this morning:
I'm entirely in awe by your dying skills - I tried dying blues and greens and just don't seem to get it right. And my Ashford red is just much too light for my liking.

This bottom roving is lovely red /orange merino with silk (beautiful colour and so nice and soft - can't wait to start spinning it).
The blue/green is soft merino and such gorgeous colours! In addition I got some banana fibre to try out! This is some tough fibre - not quite sure how to deal with it yet, lol.

...and the compulsory close-up:

Thank you sooo much!! I'm undecided wether the red one should become a single or 2ply, but I'll probably start on it later today Cheesy

28  Re: Need help with Ashford Traveller! in Spinning: Discussion and Questions by Snowberrylime on: March 10, 2007 05:07:23 AM
That certainly was a good deal!
The driveband has to go twice around the wheel, and once around the bobbin and the thing behind it... okay, that's not very clear, might be best to check out some pictures:

Knitwit: Nice pearls, I've been looking for some real ones to add to my skeins myself Smiley
and Feral: You have really been busy! I love the pumpkin colour scheme and especially these handspun mittens!

I have started sewing again, and started quite a big art yarn as well as some soy silk to be overdyed - so I haven't been quite as active.
But here are two hand dyed merinos:

A rainbow coloured 2ply

..and one of my new favourites, Latte Macchiato Caramel:

I will probably make some wrist warmers for myself - somehow I managed to loose mine again. Cheesy

This is a great idea!
Here are my first two, spun shortly after Christmas 2006:
