1  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Re: Why your website should have content on: March 31, 2007 08:02:46 PM
I've got a question about this whole subject.  I've actually got quite a bit of content on my site.  How do I go about getting my site out there so people will click?  I have a ton of completely varied subjects that come up in the top five when you search on google.  I should have no problem whatsoever bringing in a diverse audience.  These go from identification of plants to travel to crafts (of course) to cooking.  Where do I go from here in order to draw people in?  It seems like most of my traffic comes from Craftster, and I would like to mix it up a bit.

You know, the funny thing is that looked at that picture again.  I didn't pay for anything in it!  The plants were from starts, the pillow is handmade by a friend, I made the blanket, and the tables were from free boxes.  I got the lamp for $1 at a sale.  Some things ARE free in life.  Yippee.

So here is that fake leather chair I said I would post.  What a find.  Definitely worth picking up.  I had to use a shop vac to clean the rain from it, but it didn't mold at all!

I can say this really works. I have made a total of......$2.72.  Wow!  I've only been working on my site for about a month, so if it keeps getting better, this might build up quite nicely.  It was fairly easy to sign up.

I don't have a shop on my site yet, so it's totally content.  The thing is, when I signed up last week, it took 2 days for the ads to become tailored to my site.  Then I got a couple clicks.  Today I made $1.  So it seems to be somewhat cumulative.

Thanks for the tip, Lindsayanne.

Beautiful!  You should sell them.

I have thought about making a "log lady" and "The owls are not what they seem" shirt....SO cool.  We just got halfway through season two, but we never finished the series, because it got so stupid toward the end.

I think that's one of the coolest things I've seen on this site.  I'm amazed!

I am posting here so I will be reminded to post a picture of the amazing fake leather couch I and wooden headboard I rescued outside a furniture store.....I just have to get some batteries for my camera.
9  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Re: What can I do with a Butternut Squash? on: March 08, 2007 12:20:43 PM
I made up a butternut squash and coconut pie awhile ago, and it was so good!   Here's the recipe:

I also like to bake them with apples, cinnamon, honey, walnuts, and nutmeg.

I have a few recipes that might work for you on my site.  I think the easiest thing I'd say to do is get those round pita breads and pile on the vegetables for a quick pizza.  Cook in toaster oven.  It's so fast and simple.
