21  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Sixty Five Roses poster, need ideas please!!! on: January 04, 2005 07:36:25 PM
Ok, so,  In my art class, my teacher knows someone who has a son with Cystic Fibrosis. She asked him to have his class design poster ideas for it. The story with Sixty Five Roses is that a little kid heard that his relative had cystic fibrosis, but thought they said sixty five roses. So we need to incorperate both into a poster. I need to have three ideas, and....so far all I have thought of is having Sixty Five Roses Cystic Fibrosis, written all across the back of a page, as the baground, and then drawing roses on top.

Obviously, I need help, any and all Ideas would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks so much in advance!!!
22  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Boob Tube...help! on: December 25, 2004 07:50:54 PM
Ok....So guess who just got SnB and SnB Nation for Christmas? Oh yeah, that's right, me! Anyways, I wanted to make the boob tube for someone who is having twins, and maybe they could use it for nursing, or just to look cute, either way, I need your help. It says I need size 5 24"circs and size 8 24" circs. I have never used circulars before, it will be my first time, I just wanted to try it out, and if it works, awesome, if it doesnt, no biggie.

My dilemma, I have the size 8s, and I have a size 5 circ set, but it is 29", is that a big deal? Can I still do it, or so I absolutely HAVE to have 24"Huh? Any and all help asap would be awesome, thanks so much and Merry Chrsitmas!
23  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Anyone wanna help me make a knock off version of this? on: December 07, 2004 08:28:49 PM
I have a friend who is obsessed with Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, American Eagle, all of the over priced "we wanna sell you a ripped t-shirt for 50 bucks" stores. So for Christmas, I am going to make her some stuff that is just like the original- found in the stores. Only it will be hand made. I need your help with this scarf. http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=5996&itemType=PRODUCT&iMainCat=77&iSubCat=88&iProductID=5996 Is there any way to get those gaps between the garter stitch sections not using a machine? I may just be completely clueless, and this could be really obvious, but any help would be awesome. Thanks in advance.
24  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Quick Knitting and Crocheting Projects for the Holidays, post your faves! on: December 07, 2004 04:11:17 PM
Hey guys, I was just thinking, I could use a few more knitting and Crocheting projects for Christmas gifts. Soo if anyone has any favorite books, or links with QUICK (key word, here) projects for gifts. I know this would help me a lot, and probably some other people out there who have procrastinated, like myself.

*I have heard of the book Last Minute Knitted Gifts or something (is that what it's called?) does anyone know if this is any good

*One of my favorite crocheted hat patterns is the Double Crochet hat on www.headhuggers.org its really fast and easy.......I've made a few for friends, and everyone loves them!

Your turn.
25  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Ideas for Christmas Table on: December 01, 2004 01:23:56 PM
Hey guys, I offered to host a table for this "Womens Christmas Tea" thing, and I think I'm gonna go with light blue and silverish colors. It's this Saturday, and all I have is a silver table cloth and some light blue plates (Or some clear plates that my Aunt mentioned she had, havent seen them yet, so I haven't decided on the dishes for sure yet) Anyways, I'm supposed to have a centerpiece in the middle. I was thinking maybe snowman, or snowflake themed. I also need to have some sort of party favor, there will be 8 people at each table. I had the idea of some of the wire snowflakes, that someone on craftster just posted.....but I wanted to see if anyone had any other ideas, for centerpieces, favors, anything cute I can do to dress up the table. Also, it cant be tooo time consuming or expensive....help!
26  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / I'm stupid, help, please? on: November 05, 2004 09:35:01 PM
Hey guys, wow, I'm so dumb. I've been making hats and warm things for my grandmother who is going through chemotherapy, I found this pattern for a really cute felted hat in a book, of course, I bought the yarn without checking how much I would need. I only have like, a little over half! And I dont really have enough money to buy 2 more skeins of this stuff, especially since I could have bought her a hat for cheaper. Anyways, my question is, does anyone know of any patterns for felted...or not, hats, using wool? I have 150 yards...gosh, what was I thinking, I didnt even check how much was in the skeins! It's that kind of day. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated
27  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Scented Yarn, help! on: November 04, 2004 09:17:28 AM
I dont think I have posted this yet......sorry If I have! I bought some yarn a while ago at a thrift store, a whole bag of it, for like 5 bucks, its really pretty, but when I got it home and took it out of the bag, it smelled like smoke. I dont smoke, nor does anyone in my house, so the smell makes me sick. What can I do to get the smell out. I've febreezed them to death...didn't work. Is there a safe way of washing...or just any way to get it out. I started using one of them to make a scarf, just thinking I could wash the scarf when I was done, but every time I crochet a little, my hands smell awful, and it just makes me sick. I NEED HELP!!!! Thanks for any and all replies in advance. Btw..its only like an acrylic/polyester mix, soooooo if that makes any diff....
28  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Dpns..........do we have a happy helper out there? on: October 19, 2004 04:17:10 PM
Hey guys,
I have a whole set of knitting stuff, but I'm only a beginner knitter, I've only knit scarves and such on straight needles. I was wondering if anyone knew of a site that had instructions (preferably w/ pics, but anything will work, i'm desparate) that explains how to use dpns. Or.......if you dont know of a site, is there a way to easily explain it........thanks for any and all help in advance! Knitters of the world unite!
29  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Easy beanies etc...help! on: September 13, 2004 08:16:23 PM
Hey guys,
I'm a very very beginner at crocheting.....I want to get a head start on Christmas gifts and something that a lot of friends are wanting are beanies...or basically any hats but especially beanies. It would need to be really easy patterns and stitches, as I haven't learned much of the stuff yet and dont really have a huge amount of time to figure stuff out. I want to be able to take my crocheting places with me and work on it, and that wouldnt work too well if I was always having to refer to how to do certain stitches etc.....ANY help would be SOOOOOO appreciated! Thanks so much!
