1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Any other Machine Knitters out there? on: December 04, 2017 07:03:10 AM
It would be so nice to have some other MK friends.

I got my first machine in February 2017  Its a very capable Punchcard Brother 881 with no lace carriage or ribber.

I now also have a Brother 950i with LC, Ribber, Colour changer  For my birthday last month my husband hacked it with an AYAB so I need to relearn it all over again.

3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / There's a hole in my pocket Dear Liza! on: June 09, 2010 11:57:58 AM
I know its a bit random but does anyone know how to replace the linen front pocket in a pair of jeans?  I have the replacement pocket but I can't for the life of me figure out how its done. Any tips and tricks (or videos and pictures) would be extremely appreciated!
4  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Oven-Bottom Muffin and mushroom or pincushions? on: April 13, 2010 04:43:23 AM
I was going to start a big sewing project and didn't have a pincushion so I couldn't start until I had made at least 2 Smiley

Sorry the pictures are a bit blurry.  Made with some left over fabric that I had laying around and a cute button that matches the middle of the flowers Smiley

The big one I left as is until I needed it to hem some curtains downstairs.  I took one of my husband's old socks cut the top band off and sewed it to the pincushion so I could wear it Smiley

this is the one I use the most.  The bottom is from a used tea-light candle.  I filled the base with lentils and then glued in the cushion part (made from the sock that I cut the band off)
5  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Snow Boot Ornament on: December 30, 2009 04:44:28 PM

Just a little something I came up with off the top of my head.

any thoughts?  I'm not sure if it looks right.  I was thinking about getting a paperclip and turning it into an ice skate.

Any feedback would be awesome Cheesy

and here is is as a skate.  The paperclip wasn't long enough so I had to bend it so it would look right. Smiley
6  COOKING / Dessert / Independence Day Tie Dye cupcakes (just a few pictures) on: July 22, 2009 01:55:24 PM
I've wanted to make these for awhile now and I thought I'd give it a try.  Here is the end result.

in the pan still (I really like silicon and all but for some reason a cupcake isn't a cupcake unless it has the paper on it)

it was a bit warm so the frosting is trying to melt a little
7  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Lemon blueberry mini muffins on: May 24, 2009 10:47:39 PM

made from a mix that I doctored because I can never leave well enough alone Tongue

I added lemon extract and lemon zest to a blueberry muffin mix (Might have some almond extract as well) and some chopped pecans then I put them in one of those really cute mini muffin pans.  Then my secret is that I ALWAYS sprinkle on a little raw sugar so that they are all sparkly and pretty Smiley

They weren't burnt, its just a really crumby camera Tongue (pun intended!)
8  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Button up shirt pillow slightly photo heavy on: May 24, 2009 10:42:54 PM
I hope this is the right place for this.

My Dad had a favorite shirt that was getting holes in it so I decided to turn it into a pillow while still making to look like a shirt.  Everything is hand sewn because our sewing machine is possessed!

With a nifty tiny crocheted scarf that I thought would look nice with it.

As you can see I have a t-shirt for the opening at the top (thats just how he wears it too Smiley )
9  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Fused Glass pendants on: May 24, 2009 10:36:49 PM
This was from a class I took on fusing glass.  They aren't perfect but I love them and I really want to get a kiln

Sorry for the bad photo, I can't seem to get a good one of them.

I also had a question, what is the best way to make them into pendants?  We didn't fuse them with the bale and I'm not sure how to go about attaching some or which ones would be best.
10  COOKING / Dessert / Purple Gift Box Cake on: May 16, 2009 08:03:33 PM
I took some cake decorating classes than this is the cake that I am most proud of.  The inside is a white cake with drizzled rum on each cake and a raspberry filling Smiley

I colored all the fondant and made every bit on that cake.  I'm most proud of that cute little daisy Smiley

The base is  foiled covered cardboard that you can buy at craft stores in the baking section and then I covered it in white fondant.

Its not that great, not professional at all but I'm pretty proud of it anyway.
