11  Re: Magic Yarn Ball Swap Round 10 in The Swap Gallery by pertelot on: April 21, 2009 03:16:34 PM
here's my MYB from fusbdgt! I loved all the flowers sticking out when I opened the box!

so I had started unwinding and rewinding into a ball right away....then I got impatient.... pretty yarn though!

8 of the fabric flowers (so awesome theyr already on my desk), a thing of glow sticks, two magnetic note pads, a thing of raspberry lip gloss, a smiley face car magnet, two bracelets, a pair of earrings, a cool green square which I believe is a pin cushion, and a pack of awesome teal cards with envelopes!

a close up on the two bracelets... they are both so pretty I can't decide which to wear!

and the earrings... I even managed to take a picture with the macro setting on my camera now that i found it... I love the earrings and plan on wearing them for quite some time  Cheesy

Thanks so much fusbgt everything was awesome and I can't wait to start on my pattern!

12  I made a flannel jacket! mmmm cozy in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by pertelot on: January 01, 2009 05:47:29 PM
Inspired by https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=276242.0 and using a fleece jacket pattern I had, I decided to attempt a piece of clothing again, but this time its actually something wearable! The fabric is a bit bright for me, but oh well I'm proud!

The jacket - its so warm and cozy I just dont want to take it off!

To add to my poor clothing sewing skills i thought it was a good idea to line the thing, a little annoying but definitely worth it!

And now form some opinions, collar up?

or collar down?

I hope you enjoy!  Cheesy

13  Red and black quilted tote in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by pertelot on: December 22, 2008 12:14:45 PM
I swear every time I make something I end up needing to make more to give away, but hey its Christmas time how could i say no  Roll Eyes  This bag is a present for my sister in California but unfortunately since it needs to be mailed it will be late... she said she wanted something with Asian fabric, but unfortunately I did not have much time to find quite the right thing, but I think it is close enough!

the front looks like some kind of Hawaiian print to me, it think I have been looking at it for too long

I put a plain pocket and one for pens or pencils across from it, but other then that its nothing fancy

and the back, I really like the fabric, and for some reason I am rather proud of the decorative stitching on the handles from one of the settings on my sewing machine, it just impressed me lol

I hope you enjoy!

15  Re: 50 States Block Swap in The Swap Gallery by pertelot on: August 18, 2008 04:36:32 PM
alright i have 4 of my blocks done so far but i dont have too much to say about them quite yet

New Jersey - since i live close to the beach, i immediately though of the jersey shore for my theme and i knew i had the sea shell fabric already.  the blue just reminds me of a nice blue sky

Pennsylvania - ok ignore the little threads on there to begin with lol... i didnt go with a specific focal fabric.. but more of used the whole block as the focus... pennsylvania, the amish, so what would be better then some nice amish solid color fabrics!

Delaware - wellll delaware didnt have too much going on that i could find besides being the first state which is why i got the american flag fabric.  later i ended up finding that fabric with the cute little blue chickens on it which fit rather well since theyr state bird was the blue hen chicken...theyr just so cute  Cheesy

Connecticut - i wanted to go with a nautical theme and i just thought that ship fabric was adorable! it also had little anchors and stars but only little pieces made it into the star points.  i thought it looked nice with the white background and blue and white just reminds me of boats anyway

enjoy!

16  quilted tote #2 in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by pertelot on: August 18, 2008 04:21:24 PM
since making my last tote my mom kept hinting that she wanted one too.  for her birthday i let her pick out the colors and i made one for her so hopefully it quiet her not so subtle hints for me to make her things for a while  Wink

the whole thing... im rather proud of this one!

ive never done separate side panels like that so that was an experience, it went well until i put the brown binding on the outside seams.... that part i really just made up as i went along and i dont quite think i want o try that one again  Roll Eyes

the inside... i really like the dancing fabric, nothing too special about the inside though (except for my first magnetic snap, go me!)

i forgot to take a picture, but like my other tote the quilt block on the front is a pocket with a fancy button closure

i hope you enjoy!  Cheesy

17  my new quilted tote... and i love it! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by pertelot on: August 02, 2008 08:07:22 AM
i just love this thing  Cheesy i pieced and quilted the quilt block on the front and decided to make it functional by turning it into a pocket.  the button is an old glass button i have a few of and the picture does not do it real justice... the colors are very pretty and swirly i and it has a nice shine since it is glass.  the bag its self is quilted by me and instead of messing around with bias tape or any kind of trim i just did a quilt binding on the the top and pocket since it is much easier for me lol.  my only real mistake is i cut my fabric to size then quilted it so it messed around with the size..and i ended up making the lining a bit too small but i will just deal with it.  the fabric on the inside is a mystery content to me.  i know its old since i bought it from an antique market but i think there may be some silk in it since its so flowy. now onto pictures! <3

the inside with the mystery lining

close up of the quilted pocket and button

and lastly a shot inside the pocket

i hope you enjoy it as much as i do!

18  my quick pinwheel and four patch quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by pertelot on: July 29, 2008 07:08:54 AM
i made this quilt for my sisters birthday in november (for once i actually finished something beforeeee its susposed to be done!) and i absolutely love it! it went together very quick and was made all from fabric i had except for the back.  i tried the bamboo cotton blend batting i saw at joanns and it turned out to be nice and soft and warm too

and the back! i love the owl fabric they look so cute..... the purple strips on the side are actually from me trying to be cheap and conserve the owl fabric to be used for another backing i just loved it too much to give it alllll away  Wink

im need more practice with my free motion quilting so i tried to stick more to just the wavy line look but decided to throw some hearts in there to help practice.... it was rather easy since it was still all one continuous line

and lastly... i had some funnnn with the binding  Roll Eyes  the only fabric i had that actually would have looked good as the binding was the same purple again...but... i was short a bit so i decided to be creative and throw some other pieces of fabric from the quilt in there which i thought looked cute.  i decided to machine stitch the thing on since it would be stronger for my slightly careless sister and since i had just gotten my fancy new machine i decided to use the heart decorative stitch.... which apparently did not like it too well when it would cross the seems from the different fabrics in the binding and would mess up the hearts. so instead of ripping out all the ones i had done already i left the one corner with the hearts and switched over to zig zag to help keep my sanity! i call it artistic. i could not get the binding stitches to show up clear so sadly i dont have a picture of that
