2  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / How do I get started making my own beauty prods.? on: February 01, 2009 06:19:37 PM
I've seen so many talented Craftsters on here making their awesome vegan lip balms, and body butters, soaps, even mineral makeup, however...how does one get started with that?
I've read some books but if I dunno jack on this topic how would I know where to get started, where to look? I'm so super lost in all this that its frustrating.

My love for skin care and all around beauty prod. makes me want to make my own at home but I just don't know how to do it. Eventually my dream is to sell them but I don't think its fair for me to ask someone on this board who is already doing that how THEY got started....alas I'm at a loss

HELP PLEASE! I feel like I'm drowning in an overwhelming sea of internet information and don't know where to look. HELP!

3  CLOTHING / Shoes: Discussion and Questions / Painting Converse...?/ Other ways of designing Chucks! on: August 31, 2008 12:24:20 AM
I have searced and searched this thread for different techniques, different ways of using all kinds of mediums, and brands of products, along with tutorials on how to paint Converse shoes....alas I can't find a set way or any type of solid info. I figured there would at least be some sort of thread listing the ways to do this but there isn't one...yet....so I post this question to my fellow artiste's out there who paint their Chucks..

How do you paint your Converses?
What types of products do you use, what brand names, and where do you purchase them?
How do you use them on the shoes aka mini tute?

SOOO many ppl do this in all kinds of different ways lets share them all and see how they work!

Second part!!

I love the idea of decorating the Conv. with other types of mediums, ie fabrics or patches, decoupage, stencils etc. etc.

What kinds of other mediums do YOU design your Chucks with?
How do you apply these items to your shoes? IE Do you iron, sew, glue etc etc?
What supplies did you use and could you explain the process....tute?

Thanks so much can't wait to see how big this gets!! YAY!!  Grin
4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Wedding Fundraiser Ideas on: March 01, 2008 07:09:05 PM
I'm so terribly broke, and also so terribly in love. Smiley The good news, got a great man, pretty dress and shoes, and the ring, the bad news, no money.
Yup that pretty much sums it up. So
I thought to myself= Self why don't you have a wedding fundraiser!
But how I says to myself, what exactly can I do to make more money?
So far I have these ideas-
garage sale to sell all the stuff I don't need or want or can take with us in the apartment, and have a bake sale at the same time.
Sell handmade stuff on my e-bay account. ... thats it lol I need some of your great people's ideas! Please!!! Cry
5  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Beauty venture on: February 21, 2008 03:53:58 AM
HI All Grin
I'm in the beauty biz and have come up with some ideas for selling beauty items and my expertise but can only troubleshoot with my family soo many times.
So my question is What do you think about these ideas?-
1)Filling handmade makeup bags/purses with beauty items/ bath items, maybe also including makeup tips and brushes.

2)Beauty kits similar to the makeup  ones but more like care packages.
ex- girls night in- masks, nail polish, tea bags, movie recommendations, makeup tips, snack recipes etc.
ex 2- sleepy head- lavander sleep mask, silk pillowcase, fleece throw, heating pad etc.

3)Since I'm a makeup artist, throw makeup parties for teens to show them the proper techniques and then include in the price one of my bags,...but I have NO IDEA how to do that.

Any advice or tips you can give me would be great thanks!  Grin
6  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / DIY Elopement.. on: February 21, 2008 03:38:30 AM
My man and I are getting married sometime early Sept. of this year 08, and we just don't see the point in paying money for a party we'll regret. So we decided to elope. Although we'll do the dress and tux thing with flowers and probably invite our parents and my sisters. However, I will be doing most of the planning and have NO clue on how to do this. So if you all can give me ideas that would be great. Such as where we could go what we can use I dunno anything at this point. HELP! Huh
7  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Southern Cooking on: January 16, 2008 07:42:05 AM
Hey guys..er Y'all!
My fiance is from TN or as he says The South. I've recently taken to getting southern recipes to remind him of the things he no longer can get from his Mama and Mamaw (mom and gramma) lol
Anyway if you have any recipes you wanna contribute please post em.
I would really love recipes for biscuits, fried chicken, preserves, fried tomatoes, pies, anything that may be a local favorite or a family fave. Maybe comfort food recipes too that would be good.
Thanks ! - J

9  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Using Coffee as a color rinse? on: June 04, 2007 03:14:08 PM

Does anyone know, or have heard of this before? Please let me know as My hair is in no shape to be dyed but my brown locks could use a lift. Thanks!
10  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / HELP Beach Picnic for younger sister's 15 B-day! on: May 18, 2007 12:57:49 PM
HELP!!! I am throwing a beach day for my younger sister Gabby at the beach here in Southern CA.
TOMORROW 05/18/2007
I am having a picnic lunch for myself and 3 other girls including Gabby. I have less than 24 hours to get my menu ready, buy cheap gift bag favors from the 99cent store, and make it cute and mess free since there will be sand involved.
Here's why I need help. I don't want to bring a cooler because the beach I'm going to has a seperate little cove we go to but in order to get there you have to climb over this crazy rock wall thing and then go down some stairs. I was thinking of filling the food in a large backpack or small duffle  bag and then carrying that up with us. BUT I want to put the food in a brown sack so that it will look cute. Problem with that is 1) too small 2)kinda plain looking 3)it will fill up a backpack in no time with 4 bags filled with food. Another issue I'm having is that I want to bring a good drink, I was thinking Strawberry Lemonade in water bottles -Problem is that I don't have unused empty water bottles lying around.
Also what are we going to eat the food on? Because plates get in the way when you eat, but we can't just eat on a possibly sandy towel??
I was thinking of making the Straw. Lemonade, then some frozen grapes, some apples with peanut butter, some chicken strips, and potatoe wedges.
I also was thinking for the gift bag what is inexpensive and cute that I could put them in? It doesn't need to be beach themed just cute.
THe plan is to pick up gabby with me and my other sister and then pick up her friend, head to the beach and have a picnic, then relax all day. The problem is the food storage, the food packaging, and the gift bags. ANy help is appreciated, even after this party is over because I plan on doing this again. Thanks- Jenny Wink
P/S- I have $50.00 or less to do the food and gift bags with, I think I can swing it, but everything needs to be Inexpensive..HELP!!
