11  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Burgers, Fries, Hot Dogs, and Ice Cream Cones!! (image fat) on: February 28, 2008 08:04:29 PM
So this is my first time playing with polymer clay, and this is what i came up with.  Can you tell i was hungary?

i used sculpey... i havent bought any glaze to make them shiney yet, but i actually like the dull look too so i might just leave them that way.  i made two of each charm because i wanted to make earrings, and as you can see I've already made some of them into earrings...

Thanks for looking Cool
12  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / O.M.G....it's HANNAH MONTANA!!! zipper pouch on: November 30, 2007 08:55:23 PM
I have a 13-year-old niece who has a mild obsession with Hannah Montanna.  I found this fabric in the craft aisle at Walmart... and gasped at the $8 a yard price tag.  So i only bought 1/4 of a yard to make her this little pouch.

I used a 7 inch zipper to give you an idea of it's size:

Laying flat:

It was so crazy i was going through my giant stash of charms, and i found 3 butterfly charms in the exact colors to match the fabric so i hung them from the zipper:

Silky blue lining (Ive cheated with the lining and used the surger Wink )

This is part of her Christmas present... Hope she doesn't see this, she's been known to lurk around craftster from time to time...

...anywho thanks for looking

13  Ohio / Ohio: Northeast / contemplating 7.5 hour drive to Bazaar Bizarre Cleveland on: November 08, 2007 04:30:38 PM
I am really dieing to go to the Bazaar Bizarre craft show, and the closest one to me is cleveland, which is 7.5 hours away from where i live in Bowling Green Kentucky.  Do you guys think it's worth the drive?   i have never been north of Cincinatti so i would be relying on mapquest to tell me everything because i have no idea where im going.  My mom really wants to go with me so it would be the two of us.  I would also know nothing about surrounding hotels... is there a certian hotel close to it where all the craftsters stay?  any help would be appreciated... im not big on diving head first into trips without knowing where im going.

15  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / The COSTUME that ties you up in knots!! (twister costume) on: October 16, 2007 06:40:21 PM
During our visit to the halloween costume store (to get ideas, not to buy Wink)  one of the nieces decided on this $60 twister costume:

I said "uh no sweetie, we are making this one"

I already had all the supplies (because i grab every twister game i can get my hands on at yard sales)  so heres what we came up with:

The back has a velcro closure that i forgot to take a picture of

we decided to make a purse out of the spinner instead of putting it on her head

I made her clip on earrings (her ears aren't pierced) out of polymer clay.  i think they really tie the whole costume together

and just to add a little more funkiness to the costume this will be her hairstyle of choice:

we put a coke can in the middle of her ponytail to make it stand up Cheesy

The other niece wants to be a sexy nurse for halloween (she's 16 Cheesy)  so we're making her costume next weekend...

anywho... thanks for looking
16  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / oodles of crafted flowers swap? on: September 06, 2007 09:06:07 AM
so we can craft a flower out of anything... ive seen knitted and crocheted flowers... paper oragami flowers... duct tape flowers... embroidered flowers... ribbon flowers... flowers made from soda cans... beaded flowers... sewn flowers... polymer clay flowers... the list goes on and on.  (and i suddenly feel like Bubba from Forrest Gump  Cheesy)

how about a flower swap.  maybe you love making flowers from clay, but you cant crochet a stitch... so swap flowers with someone who can.

the swap could be set up to where you decide how many flowers you would like to make and recieve, and what kind of flowers you want to make and recieve, and you have that many partners.  so if i want to receive 5 flowers, i send 5 flowers to 5 different people, and five different people send to me so that you can get a variety of different flowers.  I hope i explained that clearly.  but the idea is that you send just the flowers so that the person who recieves can do whatever they want with them (i.e. some people like to make brooches, or hair clips, or sew them to a hat)

I would be glad to organize this if there are enough people interested.
17  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Henna practice pattern on: August 20, 2007 07:34:26 PM
my friend and i did henna tattoos a few weeks ago.  this is the pattern she drew on my hand in marker the day before we did the actual tattoos while we waited for the henna to be ready.  unfortunately i forgot to take pics of the actual henna tattoo after it was finished, but i thought the practice drawing in marker was pretty enough to share with the world:

You know, like the pop tab belts and the bottle cap necklaces.  In this swap we are turning all the stuff we would normally throw away into crafty goodness!!  Whether its making a cute tote bag out of those old clothes you dont want anymore, or melting your granny's old records into bowls, pretty much anything goes in this swap as long you are repurposing something that would normally be thrown away or overlooked.

Some money can be spent buying the extra odd and end supplies you need (glue, jewelry findings, whatever) but the idea is to spend as little as possible and turn the old junk that you already have, into something cool. $20 is the limit on everything.

You will be sending one large (or main) item and few smaller things in your package, but the details should be discussed with your partner.  Also if you would like to send your partner information about recycling, feel free.

20  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / wire + beads = cute lil tree on: July 08, 2007 11:04:52 AM
We took a trip to The Smokey Mountians a few weeks ago, and i kept seeing these small little trees in the gift shops made from small gemstones glued to twisted wires.  They were being sold for quite a pretty penny might i add.  i really loved and wanted one but was unwilling to spare the cash to buy one... so i made one out of beads instead.  I bought the amethyst crystal that i used for the base in a store in the Smokeys called "The Rock Shop" which sold all sorts of beautiful rocks.  Here is my finished product:

this pic kinda shows how i twisted them:

i had to break the crystal in half to put the tree into it, then i JB Welded it back together.  a pic of the glueing process:(excuse my poor naked Blythe doll in the background)

sorry the "in the process" pics were taken with my crappy cell phone camera

i hope you likey
