11  Purse from Swap! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by bittersweet_symphony on: July 14, 2008 09:55:11 AM
I made this purse for a Favorite Movie-themed swap I just finished and thought I had lost all the images I took of it (in what I like to call the Great Computer Crash of '08)-- only to remember I uploaded some on here several weeks ago *whew*! The girl I was crafting for recieved and she loved it  Cheesy... if interested, here's a link to the gallery : https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=254364.0. This was my first fully constructed purse and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out!

I handbeaded the all the clusters on the purse...

Beading close-up...

Close-up of strap...

Interior (lined with ribbon on top as well as on outside)...

Thanks for looking!

13  SAW Altered Box w/ Clay Jigsaw and TEETH! in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by bittersweet_symphony on: July 12, 2008 09:18:35 PM
I took a horror movie class (college!) several semesters back because I am a huge horror buff, and, to my great enjoyment, my instructor required two media projects during the semester. I made an altered book with classic horror films (which I will post once I finally get it back from my instructor!), and this altered box themed around my favorite horror series, the SAW films.

I painted the box black and had fun splattering it with red paint to give it a gorey effect. Then, I sculpted four teeth and attached them to the underside of the lid with black string so that they'll dangle when you open the box. Then, I layered the bottom of the box with various, threatening-looking tools, the inside sides with pictures from all four films, and topped it off with a Sculptey version of the super-creepy Jigsaw! I gave him a bow tie, fuzzy black hair, and, yes, a mini saw! I had in-construction pictures of him, but they're on my old phone *rest in peace*, haha.

The overall shot of the box...

The outside... (excuse the glare, it's actually just solid black)

The teeth! (they look much more realistic in person-- my teacher actually freaked when he saw them because he thought they might be real! haha)

Close-up of the little man! (bow tie's there but crooked...)

He's so cute in a super-creepy way! I lurve him  Cheesy (check out his saw!)

Another angle...

14  Pens, the Office Drone! in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by bittersweet_symphony on: July 09, 2008 10:56:00 PM
I am in love with the TV show "The Office," and during a monster-making/movie-watching marathon with my brother the other night (a brother who crafts! How sweet is that?  Cheesy), I felt my little amoeba-shaped monster was destined for boring office-dom! A little on his personality (because a monster without a personality is no monster at all! haha): Pens is the epidemy of an office drone. He works 90 hours a week in a cramped, bland cubicle, slaving over pointless, silly projects at the request of his (idiot) boss. Strangely enough though, Pens loves his work-- he does dream of vacationing to Maui one day, provided he can tear himself away from his mundane career for awhile!

I'm thinking about giving him a little pocket-protector with pens hanging off of it, and a felt donut with little bead sprinkles.  Cheesy

15  Anatomy Quilt (PIC OBESE)! in Quilting: Completed Projects by bittersweet_symphony on: July 09, 2008 10:34:26 PM
Ok, so, explanations first!  Wink Since I can remember, I've always been fascinated with medicine. I recently decided to go for a Bachelors in Nursing from the University of Michigan after I complete my current Bachelors, and I've been so excited about it that I wanted to combine my passion for crafting with my passion for medicine.

I love all the colorful, detailed representations of anatomy (which border on art themselves!) in my textbooks, and had a crazy idea... thus, the Anatomy Quilt! When my fellow nursing students are scrambling through their books to look up the interior vena cava, I'll simply have to glance down at my cuddly quilt! Weird, I know, but hey-- I'm a Craftster; I'm allowed to be a bit quirky, right?  Cheesy

Sidenote: the quilt is comprised of solid white cotton squares and red, patterned flannel. The quilt is not completed just yet; the pictures below are just of the front panel. The images were applied using iron-on transfer paper.

Without further ado...

Some close-ups.....

What do you think?? Lemme know!  Smiley

17  Vance, the Lumberjack Monster! in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by bittersweet_symphony on: June 30, 2008 09:32:38 AM

This is Vance, my first monster! As soon as I found this fabric hidden away in my craft room, I knew I had to make a little rugged monster out of it! I purposefully sewed him with the seam on the outside to make him look more 'rough around the edges,' literally  Wink

Then I gave him felt eyes, a goofy grin, and soft, fluffy black hair out of some speciality yarn. And now for the fun part-- his personality!! He's so large that he's a bit of a doofus at times-- he's so kind that he tends to get all weepy and emotional, so of course, he's a vegetarian  Cheesy. He lives in the deep, deep woods where he keeps a pair of rabbits as pets-- bad thing is, they won't stop having little bunny babies, but he doesn't have the heart to get rid of them! Also, he loves marshmallows and warm fires in his cabin!

Here we are...

18  Re: Come one come all post your new tattoo IDEAS! in Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions by bittersweet_symphony on: May 24, 2008 01:19:06 PM
...hes also mentioned that the priest logo dodah from WOW is the sort of thing he wants, less all the fuss around it.
Bubblegum_phoenix, I could probably help you out with this-- no one would ever guess this when meeting me, but I'm a closet gamer! My brother got me into WoW years ago, and I still play from time to time. I'll post back here or send you a PM if I find something that might be useful  Smiley

Here's my coming-soon tattoo! I want to get it on top of my right foot, very small (about 3/4 of an inch) just beneath my right baby toe.

And yes, it is from Heroes! I'm not a crazy Heroes fan, though-- I love the simplicity of the symbol and the meaning: God sending great ability-- I can underestimate myself at times despite my better judgement, and the symbol would be a gentle reminder  Smiley

19  Cakes! in Dessert by bittersweet_symphony on: August 17, 2007 11:32:59 PM
I work at Cold Stone, and on top of making and serving ice cream, we also make display and special-order cakes. These are my first two medium rectangle special order cakes, and I'm rather proud of them, though I've made more interesting cakes before  Smiley

This first one is a Star Wars cake, and you can't tell due to low-picture quality, but the circle in the lower left of the cake is actually comprised of spikey, multicolored flames, not blobs like they look like here.

A Vader toy went in the middle of the circle, along with a couple other themed toys to fill up space.

I also tried to marbalize the blue to give it more of a spacey feel...

This one is a Mickey themed cake, though you wouldn't know it until the toy was placed on the part where the two frosting bows meet...

20  First Stenciling Attempt... in Stenciling: Completed Projects by bittersweet_symphony on: August 17, 2007 10:01:14 PM

I made this months ago for my ex-- for the Juggernaut, I took a color picture found on the internet, removed the color, printed it and then spent literally 2 hours figuring out how to cut a stencil out of it. The brick wall was partially freehanded and for the rest I used a ruler as a guide.

The lettering is messy, I know-- I was in a rush, so try to ignore it  Tongue
