2  Re: Mom's cable purse in Knitting: Completed Projects by BlueEyedMonster on: January 23, 2007 03:25:19 PM
This thread inspired me to make a cable purse for a friend for christmas

however i had never knit cables before also don't have a cable needle

so here is my first attempt....i used a reg size needle to hold the stitches off and other then that being a bit awkward i found cables surprisingly easy!!

I hate sewing in the lining...but this is hand sewn and only the second time i've lined a purse ...i got tired of the cables with a large needle so i just straight knit the backside of the purse

also i have one line through the cables that is backwards but i can say i meant to do that

Over all i think a great learning experience and hopefully my friend likes it ( haven't seen her yet to give her present )

3  Re: Knifty Knitter Socks / Booties Knitalong in Knitalongs by BlueEyedMonster on: January 16, 2007 07:46:17 PM
Ok here is what i finished last nite....and the short rows when you start doing the loop from 12 to 11...how many loops do you leave or pull over on the ones that have more then 2......If that makes any sense....that was the only part i had a hard time with but i hate having to make something the same again.....hopefully the mate comes out looking somewhat the same

and i recomment doing the ribbing for the top rather then the hat brim...the brim seems a tad loose
