1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / my big poofy red prom dress! PICTURE HEAVY! on: May 26, 2008 12:40:36 AM
This is the first thing that i made that looked like i bought. It turned out amazing considering i worked on it 2 days before prom and the day OF prom. I'm really freaking proud of it. I bought a dress weeks before. I only bought it because my sisters and mom were being pains in the asses so i just picked one that looked decent so we could go home ( we were at the mall for 5 hours). my sister talked me into getting red shoes (the dress was navy blue) for some reason i agreed. they didn't match at all (i told my date to get red so it would bring out my shoes). a week before prom i decided i hated my dress and went to the mall to look for a cheap one. there wasn't anything good. disgruntled, i realized "HELLO DUMMY YOU CAN SEW". so i ran down to joanns and spent roughly $65 on a dress compared to that stupid dress i bought which was around 170. GOOD DEAL. i didn't tell my mom that i was making a dress so when she saw me in it she was a little aggitated that i had a different one on i said i made it and i'm wearing the other one to graduation which is true. then she started screaming "what the hell?! it looks soo good blah blah blah" i got tons of compliments that night on the dress too.

hope you like!
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / HEMMING HELP! on: February 16, 2008 09:36:13 PM
I am horrible at hemming. I'm currently making a built by wendy top (4112). It has the makings of becoming a great shirt BUT when i hemmed the sleeves it looks all wonky. it flips out and it just looks ugly. like this (sorry for the bad quality):

does anyone have tips or pointers on how to make the hem look smoother and less bad?

5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / HELP WITH SIZES ASAP!!! DEADLINE OCT 12 on: September 24, 2007 03:04:44 PM
So i'm helping my friend make his madrigals (renaisance) costume and its due oct. 12. I was dumb and picked out the wrong size. The pattern only goes up to a Large and he's an XL. Would it work if i just cut out the large and then when cutting out the pattern just add extra fabric around it or should i just go to the store. The thing is i don't have time to go out and buy another pattern. If i do it wouldn't be till the weekend and i HAVE to start asap. PLEASE CRAFTSTER HELP ME OUT!

6  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Gift wrapping help???? on: September 25, 2005 07:46:22 PM
Ok, my friend's quincenera is this satruday (its kind of like a sweet 15th birthday, but in the hispanic community its like the coming out for a young girl into a women...eh something like that tell me if I'm wrong, I'm asian so I don't know what it is EXACTLY lol) So I bought her these chocolate related items like a fondue set and then i have this shoe box full of chocolate goodies and stuff for the fondue set. But the fondue set is in a big square box and the shoe box is rectangle and longer than the fondue set but skinnier. I need help with ideas on how to wrap them creatively, I was thinking about making them look like a gian hershey's bar (shoe box) and a hershey's kiss (fondue set) but I need some more ideas, thanks everybody!
