2  Blue Baby Gift Set - Blanket, Lovie, Hat and Booties in Crochet: Completed Projects by audio on: July 01, 2018 01:14:28 PM
Our boss is having a baby just before we are so I got some practice making baby stuff! I used four skeins of I love this yarn brand, which was so soft and comfy! I used the 'Continuous Square Blanket' pattern on Ravelry for the blanket and lovie, winged it on the hat, and made up the pattern for the booties. I had tried several bootie patterns and none of my stitch counts came out right so I made up my own pattern and didn't write it down. So I couldn't remember what I did for the first one, which turned out perfect, and the second one ended up with two extra stitches. Whoops! I crocheted the baseball in some cream cotton I had. It's about the size of a golf ball.

I'm trying to destash a lot so I made a rug. I used a skein of yarn and about half a yard of fleece. I just crocheted around until I ran out of yarn. It's kinda tiny, but fits in my small apartment kitchen just fine!

I also started a coiled fabric rug out of some basket rope stuff and all my batik fabrics ripped into strips. I'm gonna try to make it as big as I can until I'm just sick of working on it. So it might be a big rug or not. This was a lot easier than I expected, though my sewing machine doesn't like it too much. I think that has more to do with my machine probably needing maintenance though.

Took the last two days to sew and made myself a spooky diaper bag.

I actually have some projects in the works. I picked up crochet again because its a great craft to do after a long, exhausting day at work, when my back and feet hurt and all I want to do is lay on the couch.
I found this beautiful, soft rainbow ombre cotton and had to have it. There was only one skein so I'm hoping I have enough to finish a cross body bag with an I cord strap. I want it to be long so that the top folds over.

A continuous square baby blanket for our boss. This yarn is so soft, I wish I had used it for the other blanket below.

A Halloween color continuous square baby blanket for my little one who is coming in November. (I was really hoping for an halloween baby!) I used red heart super saver for this, so it's not very soft but I've seen ways to soften that yarn up. Also all my yarns seem to be slightly different thicknesses. The black seems twice as thick as the green. Makes it kinda wonky, but it looks purposeful with the Halloween theme.

And my biggest WIP, little baby Del Riesgo!

I realized one of my mixed media sketchbooks was the same size as one of my gelli plates so Ive been doing prints on each page. Also brayer off into another altered journal (first 2 pics) and last pic I did some address label prints!

Made a pair for myself and I don't notice the seams at all, and my socks are looser than Dom's and really comfy!

Actually had a creatively productive day! I worked on this art doll that ash_k.c on instagram sent me. She makes amazing art dolls, original artwork, and mixed media stuff. Go check her out! About a year ago she made a green tattooed monster doll (that looks like Mike wazowski) that I bought from her so I decided to make him a companion that looked like sully.

Laundry room piece is amazing!

Audio: Would love to see yours!  Can you comment on the seams part?  Can you feel them?  Anyhow they do look warm and cozy!

So i don't know if this would make a difference, but i used a pinking shear to trim all the seams. I asked Dom and he says he doesn't notice them that much, just the heel seam a bit. And that probably just because he is tall/has large feet so the largest size of the pattern might be just a bit too small. I'm making myself a pair in a bit so I'll let you know more then.

Audio, the socks look super cosy. You can make them non-slip by adding dots of puffy paint to the soles. I have to do that with all the kids slippers and house socks, sliding on old wood floors can = slivers, ouch!
Good idea! Oh i should do that to all our bathroom mats. Somehow the floors have become very slick, and just slide around all the time. i tried cleaning the floor, but I think it's just a problem with the flooring type. Its an apartment and maybe not the right material for a bathroom?

OH NO, when I was like 12 i was slidding around on our wood floors, obviously my dad told me not to but i did anyway. I got a huge wood CHIP straight in my heel. Like at least an inch long and the thickness of a chop stick. It was awful. I had a hole in my foot forever!

I made his socks with the same fleece of the robe I made him earlier this year. He looks so cute!

I've been trying very hard not to buy an new supplies until I save enough to get a new car but I've been aching to make more resin peices. Luckily to distract myself from that I decided to organize some of my supplies and found an unopened package of resin!! Wooo! So I made some more resin peices last night.

Dom wanted to try some of the alcohol ink, so we did this one together. He did the pink/yellow side and I did the purple/blue side.

Here's the resin peices! Not great lighting but you get the idea! Really pretty in person!
