1  Re: Paper and Mixed Media Craft-Along in Craftalongs by audio on: April 19, 2018 06:59:03 PM
Awesome technique smmarrt, I did some prints recently I need to share too!! I realized one of my mixed media sketchbooks was the same size as one of my gelli plates so Ive been doing prints on each page. Also brayer off into another altered journal (first 2 pics) and last pic I did some address label prints!

Made a pair for myself and I don't notice the seams at all, and my socks are looser than Dom's and really comfy!

Actually had a creatively productive day! I worked on this art doll that ash_k.c on instagram sent me. She makes amazing art dolls, original artwork, and mixed media stuff. Go check her out! About a year ago she made a green tattooed monster doll (that looks like Mike wazowski) that I bought from her so I decided to make him a companion that looked like sully.

Laundry room piece is amazing!

Audio: Would love to see yours!  Can you comment on the seams part?  Can you feel them?  Anyhow they do look warm and cozy!

So i don't know if this would make a difference, but i used a pinking shear to trim all the seams. I asked Dom and he says he doesn't notice them that much, just the heel seam a bit. And that probably just because he is tall/has large feet so the largest size of the pattern might be just a bit too small. I'm making myself a pair in a bit so I'll let you know more then.

Audio, the socks look super cosy. You can make them non-slip by adding dots of puffy paint to the soles. I have to do that with all the kids slippers and house socks, sliding on old wood floors can = slivers, ouch!
Good idea! Oh i should do that to all our bathroom mats. Somehow the floors have become very slick, and just slide around all the time. i tried cleaning the floor, but I think it's just a problem with the flooring type. Its an apartment and maybe not the right material for a bathroom?

OH NO, when I was like 12 i was slidding around on our wood floors, obviously my dad told me not to but i did anyway. I got a huge wood CHIP straight in my heel. Like at least an inch long and the thickness of a chop stick. It was awful. I had a hole in my foot forever!

I made his socks with the same fleece of the robe I made him earlier this year. He looks so cute!

I've been trying very hard not to buy an new supplies until I save enough to get a new car but I've been aching to make more resin peices. Luckily to distract myself from that I decided to organize some of my supplies and found an unopened package of resin!! Wooo! So I made some more resin peices last night.

Dom wanted to try some of the alcohol ink, so we did this one together. He did the pink/yellow side and I did the purple/blue side.

The Nyan cat is really cool!

I glued together all my Bubby Valentines today!

I also started the resin art, hope they turn out good. I haven't seen any in depth tutorials on it yet so I just winged it! Can't wait to pull them out!

audio...welcome back...have always enjoyed your projects...and, I love Dom...what a great start...I made hubby a brown terry cloth robe when we first got married...he still has it!  He doesn't wear it any more (he has a newer fleece one...), but it still hangs on a hook in his bathroom...

Thanks! Dom really is great! He loves the robe and wont take it off except to go to work lol the sleeves were a pain but it was definitely worth it to see his face! I bet he'll have it just as long as your hubby does!!!

I made another thing today and started on my valentines day stuff. If i learned anything from Christmas is that I can't just start making gifts at the beginning of the month, i gotta start at least two months before!

Robe for Dom

Dimensional Paper Cut Helicopter Scene for Dom - I designed all the layers on Cricut and used the machine to cut them out. Then i used some distressing inks to give it more dimension. Used foam tape to attach all the layers.

Valentines Project WIP - We have this stuffed whale that is really special to us, his name is Bubby. I used the cricut to design a paper cut version of Bubby last year. So i used the same design but smaller 3 in and 5 in sized versions and cut a bunch out today. After I assemble them I'm going to either write reasons why I love my SO on the backs or make it a scavenger hunt type thing.

10  I Had a Tie Dye Party! in Dyeing: Completed Projects by audio on: July 14, 2017 10:29:02 AM

Last year I had a crafting party for my birthday so I decided to make it a tradition and do it again this year! This year we did Tie Dye! I also did a few ice dyeing projects! I bought a TON of supplies because, well, i just had SOOOOOOOOOO many ideas! I ended up with a lot of dye left so I'm sure I'll be doing more soon, especially ice dyeing!

First i started with bleaching a few black clothing items. Some yoga pants, leggings a tee shirts! I love the result from the bleaching and then adding dye to them made them even better! I definitely want to bleach more of my clothes! Two of the shirts we left bleached only but I don't have pics of those yet. My boyfriend did the second tee and second pair of pants!

We also tried ice dyeing! Such a fun and easy technique! I did some fabric and a tee shirt. My boyfriend did the black/blue one.

We made matching swirl tees. His is the first one.

Then we tried shapes. I did the alien, SO did the smiley!

We tried lots of different ways to fold them to get different looks.
Crinkling the tees was my favorite! SO did the first two.

My friend did these.

My mom did these.

My grandma did these.

We had a blast and I'm so exited to do more!

what do you think? -audio
