11  Re: Hand Embroidered Patch Swap Gallery - Send before Nov-27 in The Swap Gallery by craftybernie on: November 28, 2007 02:48:35 AM
As suggested by Rectangel, here's a piccie of all the patches I received from my swap pals (starting top left, working clockwise): Kookaloo_Starr, Ezri_B, Timpani~jax, Beetastic

Thanks again everyone!!

And here are the patches I've sent to my pals - but I'm not saying who got what until they arrive at their destination... watch this space.

Well, here's my final patches.  I must admit that I'm kinda sad it's all over now.  I've been determined to practice some new techinques which included my first ever bullion rose, and two colour chain stitch.  It's been a great swap! Thanks Rectangel.

I spent hours sketching various designs for my pal and this is the one I decided to go with.  I do hope I made the right decision.... There's enough space in case my pal wants to add wings.

This patch will be sent with the 'ducky warhol' one, which is quite a small patch.  The idea  for this one was rattling around in my head and needed to be released!!! Lol.

Everything will be sent out in the post today by priority mail.  I've been stuck at home for over a week now with 10 yr old off school sick and a husband galavanting around europe.  I can't wait to get out of the house later today & get some fresh air!!!

Here's a sneaky peek at the final design for my 4th patch.

I've gone through so many different versions but this is the best one.  I have simplified the sketch into this outline which is easier to trace onto the fabric.  I'll post piccies of the finished patch once done.

I have tried the dress with different sleeve types but my favourite ones are long floaty bell sleeves.  You'll have to wait for the finished patch to see it all together. Wink

Thanks for looking!! Smiley

Here's my third patch.  I wanted to do a "Andy Warhol" esque type patch.  And although it hasn't turned out quite as detailed as I had originally planned, I think it's still pretty cool.

It's an original design specifically for my pal and I used a HB pencil to draw the design directly onto the fabric.

It's smaller than the other patches I've made (the design itself covers just over 3" on the piece of fabric), however any bigger and it wouldn't have worked. I hope my pal will like it.

I love everyone's patches!!!

Here's my second patch.  It's printable colouring in picture I downloaded from some website.  This little imp is looking a bit too 'seasonal' for me but that wasn't intended.  Anyway, after a quick rinse and a nice steam, she'll be in the post on Monday along with my other lady - both going to the US!

I've made fairly big patches and spent way too much time on them.  Plus there were a couple I started but chucked as they weren't great.  But I'm on the home stretch now and the last two for the UK are transferred and ready for stitching.

Here's a photo of my first patch, currently drying after a quick rinse.  Sorry for the poor picture quality and that it looks so 'green'.  She's actually embroidered onto white fabric (Irish linen or something similar) and although I tried to edit the photo I couldn't get rid of the green hue. I hope you all like her.

Barbolot - your 'dia de los muertos' pincushion is great!  Is it a bottletop pincushion?

Here's one I made recently.  It's been a few weeks since I made it for a pal on another forum - it's about 3.5" tall.

I received my package from igobylorib today.  Here's the pictures of the ATCs that she made.  Check out the little wooden box - isn't it great!  (somewhere to hide my pocket money from Mr CB!!!)

Lori also kindly put together some ingredients and very helpful instructions to get me started making my own ATCs.  Check out the dinky tags - I may have to pinch those for my cardmaking/scrapbooking.

Don't look too closely at the picture below though - you may see some saucy ladies lurking in the corner. Tee hee hee.

Thanks 'igobylorib' - I'm just about to PM you!

I'm soooo excited!  Here are some piccies of the items I made for Babyskilz - I have offered to post them for her but hopefully she'll post some action shots later.

The main things I made for my pal were the 'bagsket' and the needle roll.  In the 'bagsket', is a mini fairy quilt, fabric flower pin made using tutorial on mollychicken, fabric postcard, flower fairy with fabric scraps skirt (you can just about see her) and a needle roll.

The 'bagsket' is made with canvas fabric outside and lined with calico on the inside.  There are a few different sized pocket/pouches inside for bits'n'bobs.  The drawstring top is made using a piece of recycled linen blend shirt fabric, onto which I embroidered the floral design.

The fabric flower pin is made with pieces of my favourite FQs from the ever growing pile.

I embroidered the fairy especially for Babyskilz, it was the first thing I did once I read her questionnaire & profile.  I wasn't terribly happy with the min quilt but it didn't feel right sending her just the embroidered panel.

The needle roll is made with canvas fabric on front and lined with calico.  There is a panel of Amy Butler 'Lotus' on the front and inside, bordered with blue grosgrain ribbon and tied with ribbon.

Some close up shots of the embroidered fairy and bagsket top.

I also made a fabric postcard.  I was going to be clever and post it but I was a bit too chicken to risk sending it in the post.

And there you have it.  I had a great time making for Babyskilz.  I don't know how much time I spent on this - it was more days than hours! But it was worth it.  So my first Craftster swap over.  Phew!  I'm off for a hot cuppa now.

20  Re: Knitting Needle Roll (NEW FABRICS W/PICS) in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by craftybernie on: June 01, 2007 07:46:27 AM
I bought these kitty fabrics earlier this week to make a few more knitting needle rolls. They'll come in handy to include with swap/exchange packages.

Will post some pictures soon.

And here's a free piccy of my kitty, Jade.  Feel free to tickle her tum.  Enjoy!
