1  Re: Traveling Little Visitor Swap Round 29 Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by Wildfyre on: April 11, 2019 07:54:13 PM
For spring break we went to south-central Alaska to visit family and show the kids where I grew up. The flights were problematic - one plane had engine trouble so we were bumped to the next flight and by the time we arrived I'd been awake 26 hours, then I had to drive 3 hours to get to the hotel  Tongue But we made it! And Echo got to see a lot of sights while we were there.

So far I've only gone through photos from the SeaLife Center in Seward, but here are a few of them Smiley

Echo visiting with a Skate

Pretending to be dinner

Watching the seal

This sea lion was obsessed with the kids. She followed them from window to window

The flight, not sure which glacier that is

Echo has arrived! I had to circle him in the photo, but I swear he's there! We took him along to work on the boat yesterday Smiley

Baranof came home from his visit to California with a fantastic scrapbook and souvenirs!

There was a little light up cube that didn't make the group shot because my toddler snapped it up-

Details of swap:

LV = LITTLE VISITOR

You will send a Little Visitor (LV) to your partner by March 18th.  You can send an optional biography (likes/dislikes/personality traits) if you would like to.

Here is a sample BIO from the one of the previous rounds:
http://thestuffmaker.livejournal.com/11346.html

You should work on finding/crafting/choosing your LV as soon as you are approved for the swap, since the send-outs are about a week after partners are matched up.

Post a photo of your LV in the thread.

Once you are accepted into the swap you must post in the gallery frequently and communicate with your partner regularly until the end of the swap. If you are going to be away please let the organizers AND your partner know.

Once you receive your LV, show them around! You should visit at least 10 different areas/parts of town/activities so that they can get the real experience of your community.

You will be required to send at least 15 printed pictures in a scrapbook/journal type thing. Shutterfly (or similar) scrapbooks are great but please plan ahead so they arrive in time.

You are also required to send at least 4 souvenirs/ mementos from the LVs trip. The souvenirs can be crafted, bought, or both. Try to send souvenirs that are unique to your area!

Send your LV home by August 26th. It is a long time for the swap to go on, but we want to give the LVs as many excursions as possible!

IF YOU ARE MAILING WITHIN YOUR OWN COUNTRY, YOU MUST GET A TRACKING NUMBER when you send your own LV and when you send your partner's LV back home! If youre mailing internationally, you MUST KEEP YOUR RECEIPT! And we require a picture or scan of the postal receipts so we can verify the date that you sent, and that you did in fact mail your LV to your partner.

To Reiterate:
* Post a photo of your LV in the thread
* Send your LV to your partner by March 18
* Provide proof of mailing to your partner and the organizer
* Take your LV around town and show them the sights!
* Keep your LV clean and undamaged - if something happens please check with your LV's "parent" before repairing or running them through the washing machine
* Post photos of your adventures in the gallery once every 2 weeks minimum
* Communicate with your partner often
* Make the scrapbook/journal and make or buy some souvenirs for the LV to remember its trip by.
* Mail the LV, the scrapbook/journal, and the souvenirs back to your partner by August 26th
* Contact organizers when you send/receive - you MUST supply Tracking# or receipt EVERY time you post something.

There are about 169 volcanoes in the United States that scientists consider active. Most of these (about 130) are located in Alaska, where eruptions occur virtually every year.

Once you are matched up with your partner, please stay in contact with them! If you haven't heard from your partner in a while, please let us (organizers) know right away. I hope we don't have any flakers, but if we do, it's better if we catch them quickly.

THIS IS A COMPLICATED SWAP AND ITS LONGER THAN MOST. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE read everything before you sign up, and make sure you can commit to everything.

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND WHILE CHOOSING A STUFFY TO SEND
- Small is better than large. Not only do you have to ship it, your partner has to ship it back! Also, small LVs tend to be easier to haul around town than large ones. ALL LV's must be UNDER 8 inches tall by 6 inches wide.
- Please make sure your LV is durable enough to survive when traveling around in someone's bag, pocket, etc.  We don't want any injuries!
- swaps arent perfect, and neither is the mail system. Please dont send something youd be heartbroken to lose. There have also been flakers in previous rounds.
- Your partner might have allergies, so its best not to send something your cat eats to cuddle up with or thats been sitting on a shelf next to your incense collection!
- LV must be a stuffed animal

If you want to participate, PM me your info (see below) AND post here on the thread.

Please put LV SWAP ROUND 29- Approval as the subject!!! Send your completed questionnaire to the organizer (Wildfyre). Failure to do so may delay your entry into the swap.

We went to hunting camp in Eastern Washington, over 400 miles away. We usually bring a wall tent and camp for a couple weeks with a bunch of my inlaws, it's like a family reunion. But we could only go for a few days this year so we rented a forest service cabin instead. It was an adventure! The cabin has no electricity or running water. The lights, heat, and refrigerator were all powered by propane.

The cabin and fire lookout, Wiggly Worm is checking out the sign

Penny by the cabin

The sunsets were fantastic! Penny is in the photo, but a bit hard to see

Wiggly picking out which bunk he wanted

The propane lantern lights

Wiggly by the campfire, watching the moon rise

Wiggly looking out the car window on the way home. It's so much different than western WA

Penny looking at the huge windmills that are all over eastern WA

We are up in the mountains camping until mid week so I wont be able to post much. But we saw Elk crossing the road yesterday. It was just before dark so the photos arent the best. Both Penny and Wiggly Worm got to see them. Didnt have time to do Pennys hair first.. oops!

This little cutie made it's way to Florida!  Seems to have gotten into the chocolate and made a bit of a mess.  (all clean now)

Enjoying some of my coffee and hanging out with me at school.

My 4yo instantly loved him/her and introduced all her friends (I'll get a picture later, they were too busy having fun to stop for a picture)

(I didn't see a name in the box so my daughter named him Cutie but it could change depending on her mood. lol)

He has a passport and bio en-route. Thanks to way too much "help" from my 7 year old, they didn't stay in the box  Roll Eyes So as I was cleaning the table yesterday I found them. I'm sorry!

Baranof is home!

He had an amazing time in Ohio. Plus, he went to Lehmans! My absolute favorite catalog and he went to the actual store in Amish country! I'm so jealous!

Magnets!

I just love this. It goes everywhere with me now-

Jam and popcorn from Lehmans!

Bags! My husband says I have a reusable bag problem. He calls me the bag lady all the time, so these were right up my alley Smiley

She sent these for my son and he loved them  Grin

10  Traveling Little Visitor Swap Round 28 (SU 9/29-10/07 SO 10/12 and 02/04) in ACTIVE SWAPS WHERE SIGN-UP PERIOD HAS CLOSED by Wildfyre on: September 29, 2018 09:04:41 PM
This is a LONG swap.

This cannot be your first Craftster swap; no exceptions.

To minimize flakers and keep everyone involved in the swap, good communication is a requirement. You must post in the gallery once every two weeks. Please think about this before signing up, this is a long swap and participants put months of effort into it. The past two rounds I've had a lot of complaints about participants disappearing until last send outs. What makes this swap so much fun is seeing your LV experience new ways of life, new locations, and making new friends. So frequent posts in the gallery and communication with your partner is a swap REQUIREMENT.

We reserve the right to refuse anyone. If you have swap feedback that shows a history of incomplete swaps, late sending, ill-communication, lack of tracking #'s, etc., we may refuse you. We want this to be a flake-free swap!
