1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: Jessica's May 2010 Medieval-Themed Wedding Stuff ***Updated with more PHOTOS!*** on: September 24, 2009 12:31:04 PM
Have you sorted out your guest book yet? Several people have done wonderful things with decks of cards, subway/movie/museum tickets on here, but you may like the idea of binding some homemade paper. There are tons of tutorials on here on how to make the paper... you could include petals from the flowers you intend to have in your bouquet or recycle the movie/concert tickets that you want to keep and just take up space and never get looked at in the very paper that your well wishes are in. You don't even need to bind it. Have everyone put their wishes into a treasure chest. You can get unfinished "treasure" chests at Michael's and add all the accoutrements yourself. The Booty of you wedding.

As for favors... my DH and I gave out handmade recipe books filled with the recipes of the food served at the reception as our favor. They were well received and have been referred to since, even by me.

A friend of mine just got married last weekend and at the reception the story of their engagement as told by a friend of theirs was told. Apparently my female friend (H) had told with friend about the ring she had bought her her man (J) and was carrying it around until he proposed so that she could propose right back. It took four weeks of carrying the ring around before J proposed to H and she proposed right back. The story was funny because this friend had had to carry around the knowledge that both were planning proposals for nearly 2 months before it actually happened. Both of them proudly wore the other's "engagement ring" until wedding day... perhaps they are both still wearing them... on the beach in Hawaii!

It had exactly what I was looking for (I think) and I have sent them winging their way to the Golden State for punching. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Okay, so I am not a pretty puncher... punch embroidery person, but my Aunt is. She has made Christmas stockings for everyone in the family. We use them every year. What is the problem you ask?

There are some new members of the family, namely by brother in law and my daughter.

She (my Aunt) really really wants to create a stocking for them like those she has made for the rest of us and we have had some major trouble finding the correct threaders. They are like a foot long, have a twist at one end and a little flag of plastic at the other.

The yarn is findable and I make her the patterns no problem, its just the threaders. Anyone have any suggestions? Is there a company out there that still makes the Pretty Punch Brand style threaders? I am afraid my Aunt won't be able to switch up needle types for what is still readily available... any suggestions?

I came home to two adorable packages... A swiss roll, chocolate chip cookies in a bag, and cinnamon rolls from Spencer Twins and the most ultimate brownie sunday you ever saw and the apple pie, which made my DH snort he thought it was so funny!

My wedding was great and I just got a call from the bride about the present I made her, which she loved. I was supposed to take photos of it before I wrapped it, but as I finished the final piece the day before at a friend's house by hand... I didn't get around to it. That was the mustache pot holder (shaped like a mustache), the apron with mustaches on and the grocery bags with mustaches and silly motto involving the new last name were completed before I left... sort of. I have three cut out and ready to complete in my living room still and I now have to make another pot holder. Why another pot holder? I am so selling the pattern! The bride loves it. She just called to tell me so and they leave for Hawaii tomorrow, so you know she really liked it if she took time out to deal with that now! I am so happy!

Can't wait to hear... and see how the dinner round goes.

The apple pie is down right hilarious! I love it! What flavor is the blue ice cream? Bubble gum? Blue Moon? Raspberry?

That easter candy is soooo funny! I love it! Did you buy the basket or did you make it yourself? I have something similar that I bought... which is why I ask. Either way it is super cute!

Beeker that sundae looks super fancy! I love everything so far and can't wait to see what SpencerTwins and koalascout came up with. They always make crazy cool things, so guess what... NO FLAKERS THIS ROUND yippeeee!

I love the rolling pin and such. I think I will ask one of my sisters to pick them up from work for me. I can handle 2 bucks... especially when you add in the employee discount! Great idea.

Thank you all for the pics so far... don't forget to post photos even if someone already has posted something similar. Get creative!

No need to steal... I am sure you can bribe the original maker into creating another with the right coaxing! Besides her house is much more conveniently located! I think you already have the address!! Grin

But, if you wish to come to vegas I would love to have a visitor! I guess that goes for any/all of you! Coming to town? Let me know! Maybe we can meet up and share a 2 gallon daiquiri, or if you don't drink a fried twinkie. (Yuck I'm kidding about the twinkie, but I would love to meet you... show you some sights... like the largest choclate "waterfall" in the world... or maybe the largest LED light board... or maybe just watch the Bellagio water show. Free stuff is fun!

Okay... just so y'all know I will be MIA for a few days. I have a wedding to attend in another state and I will be gone from 9/18 - 9/22 and probably unable to use a computer. I may have access, I may not. So, if you don't hear from me please don't panic.
