Ok... I made 3, and they are simple enough to make... but my question now is, how do i attach these to each other?  on the website you gave, she didn't say how she attached it to make the afghan on the granny daughter's page...
3  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / Re: Yo-yo crochet a long? on: August 26, 2008 01:30:48 AM
those patterns are great!

I managed to finish the baby blanket, I started a new thread for it, under completed crochet.... and I attached one more row of the yoyos for the large blanket and is calling it finished and calling it a scarf... is that cheating?

I didn't have patience to keep working on it...even though i still have tons of yoyos lying around the room unfinished...

p.s. in case you didn't know large blankets are heavy.
4  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: A few things I've crocheted recently... lotsa pics! on: August 26, 2008 12:06:57 AM
that little button heart on the bear is sooo cute!  and it's a free pattern.

I love amis, but whenever i've tried, they've always ended up looking a little weird.
I think my hook might be too large...I also have issues keeping track of going rounds instead of slipping it closed.  any tips?

thanks everyone for the kind words, in the excitement of posting, I completely forgot to give credit to where I got the pattern and courage from.

this person made the joining the yoyos less scary, and my small blanket of 15*10 as compared to her king size blanket a piece of cake.
6  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Baby YoYo Blanket [pic heavy] on: August 24, 2008 11:28:01 PM

I finally got around to do these yoyos.  I started them (not these ones specifically) last year from a thread I got on the CAL... never did get any further than making one or two of them from this ugly blue I had...

After I finished my Sudoku afghan, I had a lot of left overs of the same weight yarn, so I decided to do the yoyos again last month.  I just got inspired all of a sudden.

I made a whole bunch, then decided that I was going to make a baby blanket out of yoyos for my cousin's new baby girl.  So I went on a stash dive for pinks and baby and girl inspired colors... these colors were the best ones I could come up with.

one month later... but really only like 8 days worth of work...  It took about 5 days ranging from 2-4 hours a night assembling.  this includes weaving in the ends and actually assembling the yoyos together.

Before that, like 3 days of making the yoyos from about also 2-4 hours a day.  the days making them were continuous, but the lapse in between was why it took so long.  I took a break, and well didn't feel like weaving in the ends.

Now the specifics.

Hook: H hook
Yarn:  Various DK, and Worsted.  It's mostly worsted, but some DK got thrown in.  Including, Ambrosia from knitpicks, wool-ease, and some other random ones that were scraps, which I don't remember.  The white border is one full ball of SWS in the snow color.  I had enough left over of the SWS to make one yoyo for another yoyo project.

Measures:  10 rows of 15 yoyos each (43" x 24")  (it's really not wide enough on one end for a baby blanket... but oh wells, my cousin can wear it like a shawl... like this!)

although it's holey, it's still warm... odd huh?

more pictures of more progress in my flickr set labeled yoyo. (if you're into that sort of pic by pic stuff, which I am.)

Really?  Does it?  (no sarcasm here... real surprise, honestly!)    I wonder if the plastic feel goes away when washed too?

I don't have any redheart here in china with me, so I wouldn't be able to experiment.
Most of my worsted weight yarn are 100 % wool... except the few wool-ease...

I just finished working on a baby blanket made out of yoyos... which are similiar to granny daughters...

I really don't want to commit unless I can follow thru...

I will consider it some more.

Acrylics do tend to soften up some once you wash them, too.

the only bummer is that it has to be made out of those specific colors and that specific yarn...
10  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: GRANNIES DAUGHTERS CROCHET SWAP R1 (CLOSED) Sendout-10/13/08 on: August 23, 2008 12:31:17 AM
Is there a country limit?  I think it sorta says yes/no on that question...

this is kinda like the yoyos i've been making... except i don't know how to join this one.  shall have to read the instructions on that and figure it out... then decide on the swap.

are we requesting things like yarn types, like at least some wool content... cuz as much as i like red heart... it's just not so soft to the touch...even the ones that are supposed to be super soft... it still has a slight plasticy feel.
