11  Re: Shop the Swap Rd 11 - discussion in New Swap Theme Ideas by itscute on: February 04, 2008 12:40:18 AM
i just finished my own

foliage hat, and i have enough left over for another hat, i've listed it in my shop, should anyone want their own foliage hat in the worsted size.  It will be made in the malabringo worsted in mint color as pictured.

Hm... i just wanted to ask, if anyone was interested in claiming a hat, but was holding off because 3 points were too high?

p.s. you can click on the hat to take you directly to my shop.

12  Re: My "foliage" from fall 07 knitty, best hat ever! in Knitting: Completed Projects by itscute on: February 04, 2008 12:18:57 AM
I wanted to add my hat here, with thanks to superstitch for helping me out with the charts.  After i got thru the first chart and read the rest of the pattern, i realised that there was a written pattern to it in the pattern.  Superstitch could have just simply pointed me that way, but nope, she was very patient and held my hand thru the way.

Thanks superstitch!

Time: Feb 3 2008 noonish - 11:56pm
Yarn:  Mint Malabringo worsted.
Needle: US 7 & US 5 as according to pattern.
Pattern: no changes what so ever, followed it to the T.

Here's what I made for OrangeAngel23, the Usps.com states that the item has been delivered to her.

a Sen iron on long sleeves.

A orange/warm charm bracelet that spelled out Calcifur

Mostly Crochet and one knitting stitch marker inspired by the Miyazaki films.  The black ones are my favs, i made two cuz of it.  The orange of course Calcifur, the blueish one- the blues of the eyes of the river god who was a dragon that rescued Sen when she was younger, and the green of the frogs in the movie spirited away.

first of all...

no DC number.

I threw in the Krispy Kreme hat to show the size of the package.

second of all, she sent two items.

a folded pencil drawing of sen dated May 2003.  and a small painted calcifer.

15  Re: Shop the Swap - Round 11 in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by itscute on: February 01, 2008 11:48:00 AM

I'm located in California, and no pet nor smoke.  However, I live with my BIL, who does smoke.  He smokes OUTSIDE, but as I'm sensitive to Cigarette smells if he comes into the house freshly from smoking the cigarette smell lingers for a bit, but he's not home too often.  I don't ever smell smoke on my craft items, but i feel that since I am super sensitive to smells I should disclaimer that plus i feel like each home smells differently anyway, so things coming from other houses will just have a smell, but that is just me.
Thanks for shopping, I hope there is something that you like!

...Stay tuned for next round... Quant
One Point

Cable Hat, fits snuggly & v. soft. in light green color.

Personalize your own button ring, 2 letters can be glued onto the button, just let me know which letters you want, or if you only want 1 letter that works too.

blue ring

Green orb stitch marker to fit up to size 10.5 needles.

3 Points

I'm adding a new hat to my repertoire of hats, foliage from knitty.  Your hat will be also in wintergreen, this is from the extra yarn that i have left over on the one that i made above.

Red Heart Soft Yarn Brown

Vanna's Choice Honey
These will be made to order, I will be cranking these out when claimed, please let me know if you need that hat to be made large or small, otherwise, i'd just make it average.

Readily Color choice for Owl hat:  Red Heart Soft Yarn Seafoam, Red Heart Soft Yarn Brown like the 1st owl hat.

Brown & seafoam aren't your colors?  Looking for something else?  I might just have something in the stash that will do, why don't you drop me a line and we can discuss what colors you'd like.  thanks for the claim.

.5 Point (please claim in full point form)

1 Pale Pink, & Beige Camis.  Size Medium/One Size from American Apparel
(the pink ones are a bit longer then then beige ones when worn.)

5 Black Medium/one size racer back, material, thin jersey ie (soft)

colors, White & Aqua(i think) medium Underwear.  Personally these ride up when worn, but that could be because i have a large behind or maybe the underwear is too small.  These of course are NEW.  (it sorta feels kinda dirty to be displaying the underwear... so i think I'll just link it.)

white running shorts, medium/one size.  i feel like these run on the small side.

1 Beige tank top, 1 fuschia tank top :same style as beige tank top, except color.

I got PurpleHeather's yarn in the mail today, and immediately wound it with the new ball winder i got, I didn't know how soft it was until i pulled it out of the package.

I'm really surprised that the yarn arrived at all, cuz on the front where my address is, was the address all smudgy and faint and faded.  it seems like purple heather wrote it with those white board markers, and it was about to be wiped off.  But no worries, it  made it to my mailbox ok.

she also included cadbury chocolate.  I've been on a recent chocolate eating habit, so i was real happy to get it, PLUS cadbury from over there is much better than the cadbury chocolate that we get here in the US.  It's a good thing it's cold because the candy was opened when i took it out of the bag, but since it's been cold lately, nothing was melted.  I didn't care that it was open though, cuz i'm sure it was just from the rustle and bustle of the postal handling.

I also love the simple card she included, i might take off the button and put it to use on something.

Thanks purpleheather!!

finished another owl hat...

this used up the full skein of Vanna's Choice, or what I think is a full skein!  When I was getting down the decreases, I thought I'd run out of yarn, but whew the yarn made it.  I don't know what I would have done if I ran out... would have have to purchase another full skein just to finish it... well it's a good thing I didn't have to deal with that.

I'm thinking I want to make a baby hat of this pattern...

Although I destashed one skein, another lovely skein came in the mail for me. I joined the blue moon fiber sock yarn club, and today the first shipment came in, so... I guess I didn't really destash, just uh... balancing out the yarn totals?!

yes yes, I will try harder.

19  Re: We need another Harry Potter swap now! in New Swap Theme Ideas by itscute on: January 22, 2008 02:04:15 AM

In anticipation for this swap, I decorated a little tote for myself.  I was going to do the knitting one, where it says harry potter and the local snb, but i couldn't flip the image around so that the words will iron on readable, so i opted for a non worded image.

plus it was a good practice piece just in case i wanted to do more totes later, as you can plainly see, one side ironed on better than the other side...

20  Re: Giant Rectangle Granny Square Afghan CAL in Crochetalongs by itscute on: January 21, 2008 09:50:09 PM

got tired of not working with yarn in either knit or crochet, I went back to the good old granny squares to make it seem like I'm doing something.  I was doing the square granny squares for awhile this morning, and thought i'd look thru the crochet-along to see if there were granny squares to post my wips, and came across the rectangles.

what an interesting concept, I had just been working with the squares, sooooo... i abandoned my squares and thought i'd try the rectangles.  I think I didn't read the directions thorough enough... but I manage to fudge it ok.

I don't like how it expands length wise faster than width wise, so i added more width wise, and it's working well for me.
