1  Baby YoYo Blanket [pic heavy] in Crochet: Completed Projects by itscute on: August 24, 2008 11:28:01 PM

I finally got around to do these yoyos.  I started them (not these ones specifically) last year from a thread I got on the CAL... never did get any further than making one or two of them from this ugly blue I had...

After I finished my Sudoku afghan, I had a lot of left overs of the same weight yarn, so I decided to do the yoyos again last month.  I just got inspired all of a sudden.

I made a whole bunch, then decided that I was going to make a baby blanket out of yoyos for my cousin's new baby girl.  So I went on a stash dive for pinks and baby and girl inspired colors... these colors were the best ones I could come up with.

one month later... but really only like 8 days worth of work...  It took about 5 days ranging from 2-4 hours a night assembling.  this includes weaving in the ends and actually assembling the yoyos together.

Before that, like 3 days of making the yoyos from about also 2-4 hours a day.  the days making them were continuous, but the lapse in between was why it took so long.  I took a break, and well didn't feel like weaving in the ends.

Now the specifics.

Hook: H hook
Yarn:  Various DK, and Worsted.  It's mostly worsted, but some DK got thrown in.  Including, Ambrosia from knitpicks, wool-ease, and some other random ones that were scraps, which I don't remember.  The white border is one full ball of SWS in the snow color.  I had enough left over of the SWS to make one yoyo for another yoyo project.

Measures:  10 rows of 15 yoyos each (43" x 24")  (it's really not wide enough on one end for a baby blanket... but oh wells, my cousin can wear it like a shawl... like this!)

although it's holey, it's still warm... odd huh?

more pictures of more progress in my flickr set labeled yoyo. (if you're into that sort of pic by pic stuff, which I am.)

2  Re: Yo-yo crochet a long? in Crochetalongs by itscute on: August 21, 2008 06:23:31 PM

I had my Cousin's newborn in mine when I started this one.
It's 15 yoyos per row.  in mostly pinkish tones.  I was going to connect with gray yarn, but I ran out... so it might just be a mishmash of whatever colors I have available...

I think i said in an earlier post that I was going to do this... finally, one year later, I have some progress other than just single yoyos hanging out!

(yes, that is my messy bedroom)
this is a scrap blanket I'm starting up for... i guess myself.  this one is in 25 yoyos per row, lined with black.

I think that bag made from yoyos is such a great idea... that brown one is great! so clever!!

I've recevied from Lunanne.

oh no, the package looks like it was stained in oil!  What the heck happened?! Shocked

ron expresses that he doesn't know what happened to the package either!

everything laid out.
(L-R, Top to Bottom) Ron poster (old calendar picture), A Bag of showing which side I'm on, the Order of the Phoenix!, a letter from Lunanne.

An Owl Tote, Muggle shirt, hello kitty extras, and a whole set of Hufflepuff Stationery.
detailed pictures below.

the OotP tote, it sorta looks like 2 images in one... the negative and the positive... cool huh?

cute owl bags...

Muggle shirt... fits just fine

A whole set of stationery, envelopes, cards, bookmarks, a book, magnets, to and from tags, stickers, inkpad and stamps... there's just so much.

not pictured is the keychain and the stitch markers that Lunanne made.

I love the whole lot of it.  The totes especially...I can't believe that it's handmade... man it's so great!

Thanks Lunanne for making it all!

Pic Heavy... u have been forewarned.

My package arrived today!!!

The directions says to read first then open... so i laid it out to open each one when told.

the green item( yarn)... i love the name: i love this yarn.  I can't wait to knit it up...

Funny (yarn)... it's such a cute card, i love the miniature knitting on the front.  It says, Friends don't let friends knit drunk.

Round (yarn): Circ needles for my sock knitting, cuz i don't like working with DPNs.

Local (yarn): kiwikero's LYS's mug.... one can not have too many mugs.

Hard: a decopagued trunk...

the field of sheep inside... so cute! plus some goodies...

how cute are those poly animals... i especially love the elephant.

Sender's Choice (yarn):  a cute stuffy of elephant...

"T" related: Traveling Vine socks.

Fits me like a T!!  Grin
My brother says kiwikero's socks looks better than the socks that i knitted myself (mine are just 2x2 rib socks), when i showed him the socks that she made.

my box of goodies is so great... i now have to rethink my package cuz i want her to like the things that i picked out as much as i liked her package...

thanks kiwikero!!

5  Re: Shop the Swap - Round 12 in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by itscute on: March 03, 2008 09:45:18 PM

Hello ladies, I am going to take a break this month from this swap. Thanks everyone!.

I'm located in California, and no pet nor smoke.  However, I live with my BIL, who does smoke.  He smokes OUTSIDE, but as I'm sensitive to Cigarette smells if he comes into the house freshly from smoking the cigarette smell lingers for a bit, but he's not home too often.  I don't ever smell smoke on my craft items, but i feel that since I am super sensitive to smells I should disclaimer that plus i feel like each home smells differently anyway, so things coming from other houses will just have a smell, but that is just me.

Thanks for shopping, I hope there is something that you like!

I'm adding a new hat to my repertoire of hats, foliage from knitty.  Your hat will be also in wintergreen, this is from the extra yarn that i have left over on the one that i made above.

Owl Hat in Vanna's Choice Honey
These will be made to order, I will be cranking these out when claimed, please let me know if you need that hat to be made large or small, otherwise, i'd just make it average.

Claims from me:
AQ - Foliage Hat (1 Point) send by march 10 2008
Atusko -  3 Owl hats (3 Points) send by March 10 2008

Claims I have made:

Started with: 2

i got my two bags in the mail today, one from Avesthel and one from Sansa.

When i first got Avesthel's bag, it was bigger than i had imagined it.  I was thinking originally that i'd like to use it to hold misc things for my knitting, but when i brought it up stairs and looked at the size properly, it seemed to be the perfect size to hold one sock knitting WIP.  So how perfect is this?  I love it.  When i showed it to my sister, she thought i had purchased it online, like actual purchase.  she was surprised to hear that it was from a swap, she thought it was very professionally made, and japanese inspired.

I also got the long awaited bag from Sansa in the mail. We had a lot of communications going back and forth on what was available in her store, and such, but i stuck it out and it's worth the wait.
I'm always surprised when i see overseas mailings.  sorry you had to pay a lot of postage, Sansa.  But i love the bag.  It's very thickly lined, and too pretty to use for everyday groceries.  I think I may reserve this bag for my yarn purchases, cuz I don't want it to get dirty.  So pretty!!

it's very hard to photograph black during the night.

Hm, I have some alpaca left overs, let's go with that?

Hm... Maybe not!  Oh! I spied a solid white left over ball in my stash, what about that??

BINGO! looking good muppets!

I posted new ring items for 1 point in my shop.
You can choose any letter from A-Z to be put on the ring!
If you are not digging the green, I also have a Beige neutral color for the background.

It's a nice day out, perhaps I'll head outdoors!!
