1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / First attempt at lace knitting on: June 28, 2007 10:48:25 PM
This is my first attempt at lace knitting. I got the pattern from my knitting stitch bible (love that book). It's called lace wheels. Once I got used to it I found it easy. In the beginning though I lost my place a number of times and there was a lot of unravelling. I am putting away the scarf as part of my mum's Christmas.

2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Cats in Coasters on: May 20, 2007 09:13:53 PM
I stitched these cats by Margaret Sherry as a present for my gran. I am putting them away for her Christmas. The coasters themselves came along with the kit.

3  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Sock cat in dog disguise on: May 14, 2007 03:41:04 AM
I was asked to make a sock cat for a friend who wanted to give it to her neice for her birthday. Unfortunately it looks more like a dog than a cat.

4  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / travelling sock monkey on: April 04, 2007 10:39:04 PM
I realise that this could come under toys but I made this sock monkey specifically for travelling. A friend of mine is going away and plans on taking this with her. Wherever she goes she will take a photo of him.

I have also created a myspace page for this which you can find here;

I have since added more travelling sock monkeys to my myspace page. Here are a couple of examples;

This one might be going to Australia

This one is going to a friend of a friend. not sure where he will be travelling to yet.

I also decided to make cards and attach them to the monkeys with ribbon. Inside the cards explains the few things the travelling sock monkeys need such as a name, history and of course to travel.

5  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Floss Swap on: March 30, 2007 01:44:01 AM
For now I am just looking to see if there is any interest in this. I won't be able to start organising until the end of May.

I was once a part of a group that swapped floss every month. It would be based on a theme and the whole group would choose floss and colours based on that theme and send it out to their partners.

I was thinking of organising something like this but as a one off rather than monthly. My idea is that everyone chooses three themes. The sender then picks one of those themes and chooses the floss type and colour to match that theme and makes a little craft to go with them. I also thought (as it was something that could be done in the group I originally belonged to) that one floss can be substituted for beads should the sender wish to do so. The floss can be any type but the partner can request DMC or anchor should they wish to.

Does anyone think they might be interested in this? Remember sign ups would be in may which is a little bit away yet.
6  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Snowman decoration on: March 17, 2007 06:46:19 AM
A friend sent me this kit by Mill Hill. I love these kits and finished it in a couple of hours.

7  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / My First Sock Monkey on: March 17, 2007 06:44:00 AM
This is my first attempt at a sock monkey. A friend requested it in the pink cross bone socks. It's a bit untidy but I still like him.

8  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Bookmark on: March 11, 2007 03:09:43 AM
I bought the kit for this bookmark at a craft fair yesterday and I had it finished in a couple of hours. The design is called Smarties Bookmark and is by Sue Hawkins.

9  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Santa Paws on: February 22, 2007 04:31:15 AM
I just finished stitching this Margaret Sherry design. When I first bought the kit I intended to turn it into a Christmas card. It's a little bigger than I thought though so I might just attach it to a pillow instead.

10  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Sitting pretty on: February 07, 2007 02:52:06 AM
I stitched this kit for my gran for her birthday. She loves getting something stitched from my mum or myself. I haven't done that in a long time and so picked this one out especially for her as she loves birds. I had lots of thread left over so I stitched one of the birds on its own and put it on to a card.
