1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Magic Yarn Ball Swap Round 10 on: May 21, 2009 06:44:16 PM
I finally finished my swap pattern!  And I love it!  I have been wanting to make crocheted slippers forever, and my swap partner sent me two slippers patterns.  I ended up making a hybrid between the two:

Oh yay!  I was getting worried!

It looks like I'm the last one to post!  Oh well.  I have received my magic yarnball I just can't post pictures yet.  :-(  My computer is in the hospital at Best Buy for a corrupt operating system and I can't upload pictures to my computer at work.  Hopefully I'm going to get my computer back tonight and either tonight or tomorrow afternoon I'll get to post pictures.   Cheesy
3  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Magic Yarn Ball Swap Round 10 (Sign up CLOSED) on: May 06, 2009 09:40:06 AM
Received from Ffrogg526 on Monday, already posted pics in the Gallery!  Hubby is sending my package out for me TODAY since there seems to be some negative magnetism between me and the post office Sad

Yay!  I received last night from Ffrogg526!  We've been doing a lot of chatting throughout this swap and she sent me just the most awesomest package!

Okay, I believe in pics, excessively!

The first thing I noticed about the package when I pulled it out of the mailbox was how good it smelled.  I nearly ran home to tear it open.

The grand opening!  Ffrogg526 is very smart.  I wasn't so kind:

Candid cat shot.  Honey thanks you for her new box (Honey, the cat, has a "thing" for boxes):

The prize:

The result (I could not have been bothered to wind while I tore into it, it was too heavy!).  I really really love this variegated purple/white wool yarn.

I have been really wanting to make myself to crochet slippers, and that's what I got, plus a crochet magazine, and a fun new age magazine (you cannot go wrong with a magazine that has fairies on the cover, that's all I'm saying):

Look!  I was good and rolled the yarn!  My package came with several handmade thank you and happy birthday cards (plus envelopes), an Ashville NC sticker, a personal letter (thank you!), Ffrogg526 favorite tea (which is so beautiful), yummy scented Tibetan candles, three quartz stones, a quotable magnet, a bamboo (I love bamboo!) afghan/tunisian hook, a notebook with hand-written quotes and designs inside (I took the pictures at 4am this morning and no one else was conscious to help me flip through it to take pictures of everything), a magnet notepad, skully scrap fabric, and hand-painted river rock:

There was also a maroon and skully hook rollup, and I really love those colors together!  Some Vietnamese (litchi) gummies, more hand painted river rocks (by hand painted I mean by Ffrogg526),  sea glass (perfect because I needed these for an upcoming project), crochet flower motifs, and foam skullys:

The not-so-chewy-center:

More pics of everything:

Closeup of river rocks:

The tea:

There was also a beret I forgot to get a pic of.

Thank you so much for everything!

I have one birthday present to finish and my mom's day present to put together, then I will make my slippers and post the pics from that over the weekend.
5  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: A strange muppet-y chain scarf/necklace/thing. on: April 22, 2009 03:03:52 PM
I did a knit version of this for a girlfriend's Xmas present.  Nice to see a crochet version!

The sun one is actually a free pattern I'll have to look through my notes to see if I can find the link for you! I'm sooo glad you finally got your package I was beginning to get worried! So glad you guys liked your motifs!

Edit: Found it!! I got the link off Crochet pattern Central, here's the link to the actual Square I used the motif for. Smiley

I love you!  Thank you so much!  I think I will use that variegated red/pink/orange/yellow on black alternating with the blue/green/purple variegated thread I used on the spiral I used in a couple squares I sent you.  Yay.

I received from Wyked some really awesome motifs!  And I had to fight for them too!  My neighbor ended up receiving them and tried to bring them by and tossed them on my back patio, so it took a couple extra days for me to get them.

Sorry about the crummy pictures.  We are moving and there wasn't a clear surface to shoot them on so I brought them to the office where my desk isn't much cleaner (and IT dept = cave-like lighting)

Here's everything!

The variegated sun motif is attached to a navy blue square which gives it lovely depth.  I have matching yarns for these so I am going to have to figure it out and make some of my own:

I love these!  Thank you so much Wyked!

Holy cow! I love those frog squares! Are the legs part of the motif, are are the stitched on separately? And, are the "eyes" bumps? I need to learn how to make these... I just checked my books and I don't think I have a pattern... but wait... I have a pattern from crochetroo on Etsy that looks pretty similar... Whoo-hoo! I'm making a frog square for my blanket Grin Grin

Yes the frog squares are from a pattern from crochetroo and available on Etsy!

So here are some more motifs from the lovely dsdiviny, she managed to get all my favorite colors in my motifs!!

And dsdiviny, did you use a pattern for the spiraly one? It almost looks like Sc's on top of the square...though I'm still fairly new so I could be wrong. Cheesy Thanks again!

You fave colors are my fave colors so working with them was pretty straight forward.  Stuff I make myself looks like  Halloween candles threw up on some yarn.

OMG, the spiraly one, lol!  I drew out a spiral on a piece of graph paper and did a tapestry crochet for the square.  I didn't think the spiral was prominent enough (you'll see what I mean if you look at the back side of the square) so I SC on top following the original spiral design I originally tried to crochet.  Does that make sense?
