Details of swap:

This is a swap specifically for those of us Craftster members living in the UK, and the aim is to get to know each other a little better.

This is a 'getting to know you' swap - the idea is to send something crafted that reflects you or where you live (make sure that this is something that your partner will like!), as well as a letter and a postcard that again reflects you or something local to you (this can either be hand-made or bought). Maybe include a few free leaftets?

Also, it would be awesome to post or add links to some photos of either local places or your favourite places in the UK.

Some examples:
* bookmarks (any craft)
* teatowel
* decorated picture frame/book relating to the area

In an effort to keep postage costs down, this will be a medium sized swap, comprising of 3 points, where a large item is 3 points, a medium is 2 points, and a small is 1 point.

Large, medium and small items are defined as the following:

By Time
-Large = 3 or more hours
-Medium = 2 or more hours
-Small = 2 or less hours

By Size
-Large = A shawl, a shirt, a skirt, a set of jewelry with four to five items, a purse
-Medium = one single necklace or bracelet, a scarf
-Small = Earrings, stickers, wallets, pouches, bookmarks

Therefore, to get 3 points, you could either send 1 large item, 1 medium and 1 small item or 3 small items.

4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / UK Craftseter Swap on: April 04, 2010 08:13:10 AM
Is there any interest for a swap between us craftsters living in the UK?

Postage and packaging would cost much less - any ideas on what to swap?

Also, would anyone want to organise?

5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / My latest bags on: March 20, 2010 10:13:45 AM
Here are two bags that I have recently made for Swaps that I've participated in:

The first is from the Jane Austen Round 5 Swap. This is a reticule, and I had a lot of fun watching recency period films for research!

Close ups:

I also made some basic lavender bags, filled with home-grown lavender!

The other bag was for the Mayhem and Murder swap. It was inspired by a publicity photo for Psych, and some lovely stripy fabric:

I have some more projects in mind, and hopefully over the Easter break I will have time to make them a reality!

Here are a few of my latest projects:

7  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Completed Projects / Slytherin Quidditch Hoodie on: March 20, 2010 09:55:23 AM
I made this to go with my other Harry Potter inspired clothing - Malfoy's Quidditch Hoodie!

I did some research from the films to get the right look for this.

Front details:

8  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Jolly Roger Wall Hanging on: March 20, 2010 09:34:13 AM
Even though it has been a year now since I moved in, my walls are still somewhat bare. I wanted to decorate them with art, and was then struck with this idea. I love all things pirate, I also wanted it to be slightly feminine (but still awesome), hence the non-traditional colours, and the differences in the positioning of the checked fabric was intentional:

The banner is made from lined fabric, and has a thin piece of dowel inserted between the fabrics at the bottom to add a bit of weight - to help keep the shape. The dowel that is at the top has been painted black, because it looked much better!

Let me know what you think Smiley
9  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Evidence tags on: March 17, 2010 02:23:34 AM
I have recently taken part in the Murder and Mayhem Swap, and thought that I'd share the templates that I used to create the evidence tags as labels for the packages that I sent. I think that they look really good, and may start wrapping birthday presents and such in this way, just for a bit of fun!

These are just basic, and can easily be modified depending on the information that you want to include. I made these on a simple graphics program, then cut them out into the tag shape for effect.

When I used these, I wrapped the parcels up in brown paper first, and then attached the police evidence label to the outside. You could also use string to tie up the parcels.

This is an example of what to write:

You could really go to town on these!

I hope you like them!
10  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Chainmaille bracelets & earrings on: January 10, 2010 09:05:24 AM
My newest creations - I made the purple bracelet for a friend, then simply has to make one for me, with matching earrings!

I used helm chain weave, interspersed with glass beads to make it a bit more glamorous. The rings are all made by hand, using 0.9mm galvanised wire and head/eye pins. The clasps are also handmade.
