21  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / I hope nobody minds...my first project on: January 16, 2007 10:30:53 PM
So I know that this is technically a board for clothing, but I very much respect everybody on this board and many of you have helped me along the path to complete sewing obsession.

I just wanted to share my first sewing project with you guys!  YAY!

A baby blankie!

It's done in a dimple fabric (SOOOO soft) and lined with flanelette.  It's for my daughter so she can be all snuggly warm at night.  Here are some pics!  Enjoy!

The Blankie (on my couch Smiley )

EXTREME CLOSE-UP!!!!!! (thank you Wayne's World)

Thanks for looking!!

ps, I heart comments!

I'm SOOOOO excited!  It's a Singer SIMPLE #3116.  Anybody know anything about it?

Obviously I'm going to be starting with simple things like pillows, but hope to be sewing clothes for my daughter soon!!  Wish me luck!!!

23  CRAFTSTER CRAFT CHALLENGES / Craftster Craft Challenge Theme Ideas, Etc. / Kitchen Stuff! on: November 26, 2006 11:28:07 PM
What about crafting with stuff you'd find in your kitchen?  This would have to be a typical kitchen, mind you, since MY kitchen doubles as a craft room!  Undecided  LOL!
24  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Paper Roses, with a very detailed (and pic obese) tutorial. Pics fixed. on: November 23, 2006 01:18:00 AM

1) Dye coffee filters. You will need two coffee filters of slightly different colors to make ONE rose. (I used coffee and tea)

2) Fold your coffee filter THREE times.  Hack off the tip! BE VIOLENT!

3) Cut out a petal shape.  Make sure none of your petals are attached.  Repeat steps 1-3 with the other color.

You now have 16 petals.

4) Curl the corners of your petals.  I use my scissors!  Grin

5)Wind some wire (I use 29 gauge) around a corsage pin (or something similar).

6) Start adding your petals with the corners facing IN, alternating the colors as you go.  Wind the wire around EACH petal.

7) Keep adding petals, overlapping the previous one by about 1/3.  After approx. 8 or 9 petals, start facing the curls OUT.  Continue until there are NO petals left.

8. Add a toothpick to the bottom of your rose (with MORE wire ;p ), then cover said toothpick with floral tape. Sorry about the blurriness of this one.

9) Add embelishements.

10) Project complete!!! WOOOOOO - freakin - HOOOOOOOOO!

Anyways, guys and girls, that would be that! I'd love some feedback.

Edited.  I fixed the pictures.  Smiley
