22  Nothing special - newborn hat and sockies from my own patterns. in Knitting: Completed Projects by Kayla_Wte on: May 27, 2007 11:12:51 PM
Like I said, nothing special, but cute nonetheless. Smiley  My friend is due in July, but doesn't know what it is, so I kept these fairly gender-neutral.

The hat:
Pattern: my own.
The yarn: Red Heart Luster Sheen in "tea leaf."  It's 100% acrylic, but knits up nicely and is soft and sweet.
The sticks: 3.5 mm dpns

The sockies:
Pattern: my own.
The yarn: Redheart lustersheen in "tea leaf" (green) and Socken Woole self striping in red.

24  Re: recyled yarn KAL? in Knitalongs by Kayla_Wte on: March 29, 2007 01:34:36 PM
Okay, aprilcocaine invited me (how did I not see this thread?!) and I'll bite.  So help me pick which yarn I should use?  These are all recycled (I call it "rescuing" so that my hubby can get more of a kick out of it Tongue).

My sweet single-ply yarn:

My lavendar kid mohair laceweight:

My chocolate brown cotton laceweight:

or my pink crazy laceweight (also cotton):

So which shall I knit from?

26  Your best thrift store yarn finds? in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by Kayla_Wte on: March 26, 2007 01:37:53 PM
Okay, I thought this would be a fun little exercise.  I went to the thrift store yesterday and found this:

God knows how many yards of white alpaca laceweight.  Guess how much I paid....guess!

$3.99!  I felt like a thief!

Anybody else had any good thrift store finds?

Is it sick that I look at that and think, "that's a good start..."?

28  Quilled Journal in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by Kayla_Wte on: January 17, 2007 10:19:38 PM
Hello folks.  So this is my third ever post.  I made this journal for my MIL when she was diagnosed with cancer in May of 2005.  She died two months later.  We just went through her stuff this past month and I found this journal (empty).  I hummed and haaaahed over whether to post it or not, but I figured she loved it, so I should share.

I hope you like it.  Enjoy.

The plate says:  It doesn't matter where you go, it's who's beside you that counts.

Okay, now I'm getting emotional...

29  My first quilt (or is it just a baby blankie?) in Quilting: Completed Projects by Kayla_Wte on: January 16, 2007 10:42:13 PM
Well, I made my first blankie today (actually, my first sewing thing EVER). It took me about 2 hours to do from start to finish.  It's made out of a REALLY soft dimple fabric and has flanelette backing.  I love it so much!  It's going to my 8 month old daughter to keep her warm on these cold winter nights!

Enjoy!  By the way, I HEART COMMENTS!

EXTREME CLOSE UP!

Edging detail (a.k.a. it took me forever to sew this straight!)

30  I hope nobody minds...my first project in Quilting: Completed Projects by Kayla_Wte on: January 16, 2007 10:30:53 PM
So I know that this is technically a board for clothing, but I very much respect everybody on this board and many of you have helped me along the path to complete sewing obsession.

I just wanted to share my first sewing project with you guys!  YAY!

A baby blankie!

It's done in a dimple fabric (SOOOO soft) and lined with flanelette.  It's for my daughter so she can be all snuggly warm at night.  Here are some pics!  Enjoy!
