11  Re: Fiber Friday 4/11/2008 in Spinning: Completed Projects by Kayla_Wte on: April 11, 2008 10:47:05 AM
I've been so busy, I haven't been able to do much.  I really love grunge princess.  It's so fun!

I dyed some silk hankies:

Then I spun some up (not pictured in the one above):

It's a really fine laceweight, and I'm going to ply it with another spun hankie single to make a silk laceweight.

One finished yarn this week.  It's BFL plied with an unspun white silk hankie with wraps and knots throughout.  I call it coccons.  Worsted Weight.

I only have one this week, because quite frankly, it's 8 oz and nearly 900 yards LOL!

I'm going to turn it into a sweater eventually:

The stats:
8 oz
~900 yards fingering weight
4 skiens
100% merino 2 ply

Beautiful yarns, everybody!!   Shocked

I'm late to the party, once again.  Undecided

I've spun up three yarns this week:

First - 200 yds (4 oz) of worsted weight superwash merino.  This has purposely been overspun in spots because I've really be loving the little curls that you get when you do.  Smiley

Second - 100% Merino, 200 yds, a felted yarn.  I loves this yarn lots and lots Smiley

Finally, a wacky skein that has a little bit of everything.  Mohair curls, some mill ends, some green and purple and hot pink merino that I dyed up, some silk...I loves this one, too!  I spun it up based on this picture:

It's 75 yds of fingering weight.  Smiley

Thanks for looking!!!

I posted this in a different thread, but I'd like to post these in the actual Fiber Friday, if that's okay.

Spearmint Rainbow - 140 yards spun from mill ends.  Approx 2 oz.

Nostaliga - Spun from B&W mill ends, and I loves it.  I haven't measured the yardage, but I think there's about 3 oz total.

My fave for the week, Poseidon - 750 yds, 100% Tussah Silk, 4.4 oz.  I <3 this yarn.

Finally, Newfie Sunrise (renamed) - 235 yds (now that I've finished the second skein), 3 oz, sock weight superwash.  Smiley

Lovely yarns this week, everybody!  I really can't pick just one.  It's like Lays chips!!!!

I'm chiming in late as well.

I've got three yarns, all for Xmas presents:

The first is called Chocolate Strawberry.  It's 100% Alpaca.  I spun a red laceweight and plied it with an undyed single. (1 skein)

The second is called Northern Lights.  It's 100% wool (corriedale) and SO lovely.  It has blue, teal, grey, brown, black and green in it.  It's Navajo Plied so that it will have a really nice, subtle self-stripe when it's knit up.  I've been going crazy with the self-striping.   (7 skiens)

Finally, this is 100% undyed alpaca.  It's a worsted weight, and absolutely lovely to knit.  It's going to be a scarf for my brother in law. (4 skiens)

20  Some random spinnies :) in Spinning: Completed Projects by Kayla_Wte on: October 21, 2007 01:09:29 AM
First up, my sock yarn!  YAY!  Colorway: Chocoberry.

This is fun!  It's a superwash that I spun so that it self-striped.  The colorway is: Newfie Twilight, and it's a great beaded yarn!
I included some pictures of the WIP with it so that you can see how it knits up.  The beads photographed brighter than they actually are.

My first attempt at spinning silk.  I think the hankies would be easier.

And some Alpaca that I'm working on currently.  That was my test skein.

More details, as always, on my blog!  Smiley
