Class/Challenge/House Pride:  HOUSE PRIDE - GRYFFINDOR!!!
SPEW: YES!!  This is going to be donated for a silent auction at my work, a non-profit, The Andrews Center, which is an organization run for helping those with mental health and/or intellectual or developmental disabilities
House: Gryffindor!!!
Project Name:  Red and Gold
Brief Description: (how it fits the requirements, pattern/techniques/recipe used, any fun tips, etc.)  Um, OBviously...it's in our house colors and even has a stag for extra HP bonus points!
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride:  Care of Magical Creatures
SPEW: N/A
House: Gryffindor!!!
Project Name:  Basic Beauties (AKA Why We Don't Allow Niflers Around the House)
Brief Description: Well I just went ahead and took awhile (I'm slow) and grabbed a few crystals and pearls I had lying around and made myself some pretty, shiny earrings.  They are, generally speaking, quite shiny, which is why we have puppies and no niflers around, even though they are quite adorable and I tried to talk my husband into getting one a few months ago.
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride:  Herbology
SPEW: N/A
House: Gryffindor!!!
Project Name:  Reinvented Wreath
Brief Description: Let's be honest, moving packs a pretty big 'whomp' and I have moved a lot.  My fall wreath took a pretty big blow and needed a serious transformation to look halfway decent again.  This may not look like much, but it's actually much prettier in person than the pictures seem.
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Potions
SPEW: N/A
House: Gryffindor!!!
Project Name:  Magnets for Friends
Brief Description: A simple craft - glue some paper to the back of a glass stone, seal it, glue on a magnet - sure, it seems easy.  But no, I had to go and make it complicated.  I couldn't find the right pictures or paper that I liked and I wanted variety but still with a color theme and blah, blah, blah.  So of course I made a simple task - a set of magnets for a friend moving into a new place and another set for a friend who got a new job and is changing offices - into a MUCH more complicated endeavor by monoprinting and making my own papers.  The first set was more purple and turquoise and black and silver and the second was more pearl and silver and peach and aqua.

OKAY!  So after like a near-3 year hiatus, I am back at Hogwarts!  Though I am late to the semester, I hope I can still do my house proud!

PLEASE BE GENTLE WITH ME - This is also my return to crafting after a long hiatus, so I've taken it easy with the projects and they're very...novice.  As am I right now.  Roll Eyes

Class/Challenge/House Pride:  Astronomy
SPEW: n/a
House: Gryffindor!
Project Name: Nebula Necklace
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: The insides of this necklace vial are definitely irregularly shaped and freeform!  It was actually really hard to just sort of let it go and just let it be how it was gonna be, even though that's how it works.  I made a couple of them but this was the only one that I liked how it came out.  Sort of.
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride:  Charms
SPEW: n/a
House: Gryffindor!
Project Name: Gift Tags
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: I like to think these Christmas gift tags are lively, busy, and fun!  I ordered a bunch Christmas gifts this week so I'm about 80% done with Christmas shopping, so I wanted to have tags ready so when things get here, I can wrap and label and have it done and ready.  But I love Christmas and want it to be fun and festive so I wanted colorful, fun tags so here they are!
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride:  Transfiguration
SPEW: n/a
House: Gryffindor!
Project Name: Button Ornament Christmas Cards
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: I don't know about you but I much prefer these buttons post-transfiguration instead of beetles.  They may not be useful in this use but they still are pretty.  I'll still need to make a bunch more but I made 15 today.

Prepare yourselves for some serious jealousy from my spoilage by midkiffsjoy!!  Joy decided she had too many ideas to stick with one so I seriously lucked out with my partner!  Wink (Though all the packages so far have been honestly fantastic!!)

So we have the trio come Valentine's Day...

Altogether, it stands about 8" tall or so.  Joy figured if she smushed all the pieces together it would fit into the 4x4 space  Cheesy

Then we have McGonagall!!

Aaaaaaaand an 'Always' heart ornament!!

It is super adorable and will be living on my diningroom wall!

Then we still have treats!  A big package of the most perfect thing you can ever hope to purchase:

And if that wasn't spoilage enough, she made toffee (my favorite!) shortbread cookies!!!  Shocked

A great big huge box of them (thank God because my husband is addicted to them and I want some, too!)!

My package also came as a howler, had HP valentines all over it, plus sent an adorable Valentine with a whole Snape and Lily scene!!  Awesome, awesome, AWESOME package!!!

Oh my - there is SO much talent here!  All of these are fantastic!!  I do have the say the quote one is *so* well suited for my tastes and I am particularly jealous of that.

But now you guys can continue to be jealous of my collection!  Wink

So I guess this arrived yesterday but we didn't check the mail til this morning and lo and behold, my card from YennaMuffin:

This is "Mermaid Beauty" for my Positive Plus-Size Imagery theme!  It's gorgeous!!!  And once I have enough, this theme is going to go into an ATC display on the wall that my brother gave me for Christmas and this is the perfect start!  Thanks!

7  Re: Mini 12 Days of Christmas - Gallery in The Swap Gallery by rockmygypsysoul on: December 13, 2014 01:13:45 PM
Eager for LB&BB to open Day 12 and hope she loves it as much as I did - it was hard to part with!! Cry  I also hope she gets a great picture because mine suck  Cheesy

Also, I love how she interpreted the triptych - as a love story.  I had envisioned it this way (excuse the mess) - the two canoodling birds are she and DH while the little ones on the bottom are DDs and one about to fly is DS.  I think it's wonderful either way and I really love, love, love that she could see a whole different thing with it!  <3

10  Re: HP Craftalong ~Fall Semester 2014~ *Join Anytime* in Craftalongs by rockmygypsysoul on: November 30, 2014 10:07:42 PM
WARNING - ENTIRE SEMESTER PROJECT DUMP!!  Embarrassed

ALSO - should LadybugsandBumblebees come across this - STOP NOW (swap spoilers ahead)

Class/Challenge/House Pride:  Alchemy
SPEW: N/A
House:  Gryffindor!!
Project Name:  Copper and the Deep
Brief Description:  Copper and water are an amazing combination, both visually and metaphorically.  I did quite a lot of monoprints (using a Gelli pad) recently, two of which paired copper and the ocean.
Project Picture: (it reads "Well I was born in the sign of water and it's there that I feel my best.  The albatross and the whales, they are my brothers." ) (this reads "There are oceans of feelings between us"

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Apparition
SPEW: N/A
House:  Gryffindor!!
Project Name:  Birds and Bees
Brief Description:   For the 12 Days of Christmas swap, I made a little triptych for LadybugsandBumblebees' family - cherry blossoms with a little bird family with her, her husband, the young two that are at home, and the older son who is off to college.
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride:  Arithmancy
SPEW: N/A
House:  Gryffindor!!
Project Name:  Just dance!
Brief Description: When I make monoprints, I use lots of different tools to create different effects but I made a couple of them without using any stencils, stamps, textured items, etc - just totally let things go as they wanted.
Project Picture: (reads "One must have chaos within oneself to be able to give birth to a dancing star.") (reads "Dance every dance you can.")

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Astronomy
SPEW: N/A
House:  Gryffindor!!
Project Name:  Love Letters
Brief Description: There is definitely a lot I don't know and drafting patterns and sewing things DEFINITELY fits in that category.  But my swap partner wanted some felt envelopes for her classroom so I made these which took a RIDICULOUS amount of time due to my complete ignorance about how things work.
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Care of Magical Creatures
SPEW: N/A
House:  Gryffindor!!
Project Name: Peony Transplant
Brief Description: For this painting, it hits the CoMC criteria twice - I combined two completely different styles and it was also incredibly challenging for me to paint.  The peony represents healing and when a peony is transplanted, it usually takes a couple of years to re-blossom but once it does, it stays strong for decades.  This painting is representative of many of my ongoing feelings of processing my miscarriage (and subsequently realizing children aren't going to happen).
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Charms
SPEW: N/A
House:  Gryffindor!!
Project Name: Icicle Wreath
Brief Description:  A family friend had an old wire wreath with some acrylic cubes on it that she gave to me.  It took more patience than I usually have but I remade it into something I personally find quite lovely!
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Defense Against the Dark Arts
SPEW: N/A
House:  Gryffindor!!
Project Name: See the Truth, Speak the Truth
Brief Description: I am all about the notion of seeing things with sharpened vision - including how you feel about yourself and others.  These two monoprints represent seeing the beauty in someone else and understanding the beauty within, especially when others may others may not see it.
Project Picture: (reads: "Her eyes make diamonds look like loose change."
(reads: "You are terrifying and strange and beautiful, something not everyone knows how to love.")

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Divination
SPEW: N/A
House:  Gryffindor!!
Project Name:  In All Things
Brief Description: In Divination, we have to see the beyond and there is so very much that can block us.  For me, chronic illness and pain did so for a very long time but in the past year, through art, I'm finally starting to see more than my present moment.  This piece - which the picture does not do justice for - has bits and pieces from different things I've used this year when making art and as it moves up the canvas, there is less and less "junk" there.  But there are crystals and gems and some glitter all over everything and even among the "junk", there is beauty.
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride:  Flying
SPEW: N/A
House:  Gryffindor!!
Project Name:  Little Drummer Boy Cross
Brief Description: Painting on wood was my first love and sometimes I still go back.  "Little Drummer Boy" is my favorite carol so I whipped this up.
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Herbology
SPEW: N/A
House:  Gryffindor!!
Project Name:  O Christmas Tree
Brief Description: When it comes to growing pumpkins, it takes several months to cultivate a good crop.  For us crafters, Christmas tends to be the same way.  I made this lino cut and prints for Christmas cards early this year to ensure a smooth holiday season!!
Project Picture: (sorry the picture sucks!)

Class/Challenge/House Pride: History of Magic
SPEW: N/A
House:  Gryffindor!!
Project Name:  Every body
Brief Description: The oak tree is incredibly strong yet also changing every autumn.  Over the years, my body has changed and has often made me feel weak when it didn't seem like my body was how it should be.  Now I'm realizing that all bodies can be strong bodies.
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride:  Muggle Studies
SPEW: N/A
House:  Gryffindor!!
Project Name:  Sisters for Infinity (and beyond!)
Brief Description: My sister and I have a lot of history and not all of it is good.  But we've still been really committed to making our relationship work and being a support for each other.  So I made two matching bracelets with the infinity sign as a reminder for both of us that we can count on each other and to remind ourselves to be loving and supportive.  I already gave her bracelet to her this week, so this just has mine  Smiley
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Potions
SPEW: N/A
House:  Gryffindor!!
Project Name: Tejas Heat
Brief Description: Just a little suncatcher I made for my swap partner with the old pony beads in the oven so she'd have a touch of Texas!
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Study of Ancient Runes
SPEW: N/A
House:  Gryffindor!!
Project Name: Rainbow Suncatcher
Brief Description:  In winter, it's more important than ever to enjoy what sunlight there is and my swap partner loves suncatchers and rainbow colors!!  (It's really beautiful in picture - these were just last-second-have-to-get-the-swap-package-in-the-mail pictures)
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride:  Bertie Bott's Every Flavored Bean - PEACH
SPEW: N/A
House:  Gryffindor!!
Project Name: He's peachy!
Brief Description: Peaches can represent love and good health so I made a little something for a friend who had a healthy baby boy in September!
