11  Re: 3 Old beat up identical paintbrushes in What the heck can I do with THIS? by girlbotgoods on: October 26, 2006 06:33:53 PM
I found an old brush at our farm....so i added paint to it and made this.
I used an old frame and put a sheet of thin plywood in it.  then painted a hook and screwed it in for the brush to hang from.  the drip is made from hot glue adn then painted and glued on.

12  Do It Necklace and TUTORIAL!! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by girlbotgoods on: October 26, 2006 06:07:22 PM
so i had a bunch of plexy left over from another project and came up with this rockin necklace.
let me know what y'all think.  maybe i'll put up a tut if'n i get the time

IMPORTANT! i made some updates/changes after some more experimenting. they are in red below.
ok im off my lazy bum and writing a short tut:

plexy remnants (after making a few more, i found its easier to have the store pre-cut the plexy into strips, no more than 3 inches wide...otherwise i had a hard time getting a clean break)
small picture, i just printed on regular paper from my printer
decopage and brush to apply
box cutter
medium grade sandpaper

1. first decopage the BACK of the picture to keep the picture from getting messed up as it will be touching skin.  let dry.

2. cut out picture.  decide how much of a plexy border you want around the edge of the picture.  measure onto plexy and score using box cutter. i lined up the score marks with the edge of a table and covered with fabric to pretect my hands and then snapped along the score lines.

3. sand the edges so they arent sharp.  be careful not to scratch the front and back. (again, after more experimenting, i found it easier to scratch the edges with the box cutter.  this is optional and more of a personal preference, but if you use this technique BE VERY CAREFULL HOWEVER!)

4.  use a tiny drill bit to drill a hole in the plexy where desired. i put a few layers of cardboard underneath to keep the bit from going through my table. clean one side of plexy with window cleaner to get off finger prints and skin oils. set plexy aside.

5. decopage the FRONT of the picture and place into position on the plexy before the decopage dries.  (when wearing the necklace, the picture will be behind the plexy that is why you decopage the front in this step)

6. the pendant is done! now make it into a necklace.

if there is any confusion, just let me know and i will clarify

15  and cow in Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Completed Projects by girlbotgoods on: October 23, 2006 08:48:33 AM
and heres the original cow.  its a bit different now.  we had our bulls (for those who are ignorant..thats a breeding male...or a daddy cow for the really stupid) in the pasture where we put the cow and the bulls...um...tried to breed it. Tongue and it broke so my dad revamped it.  it now has a more realistic thicker neck and is painted.  it also has a fence around it....so its love life is over. Wink  it is also painted a red-brown with white socks.  the tail is a spring type thingy and sways in the wind.

16  welded metal yard sheep in Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Completed Projects by girlbotgoods on: October 23, 2006 08:33:29 AM
for my wedding, my hubby's family from england came over and his brother happened to have got to a tech college for welding.  me, the hubby, and his brother and sister are all crafty and i live on a farm with tons of junk piles so we raided and welded shaun the sheep.  he stands life size at approx. 4 feet high and is now hanging out next to our driveway to welcome visitors.  we also have a 4 foot high cow my hubby and i welded the year before.  ill try and post that as well....its not quite as good tho as neither tony or i is very good at welding

17  ticket roll flower pot in Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions by girlbotgoods on: October 23, 2006 07:53:19 AM
i'm watching the rachel ray show and they had the CUTEST idea on a crafting in the kitchen segment!  get a cheap roll of tickets from walmart, the dollar store, etc. make sure the end ticket is taped to keep the roll from unrolling.  then use your fingers to slowly push the ceter of the roll. continue forming the pot until you're satisfied.  then decopage over the inside and out to hold it.  this makes a great flowerpot, remote control caddy, what have you!
(this is not the best pict..but it was all i could find on the rachel ray website)
