1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / My latest bag just in time for Halloween! on: October 16, 2007 01:35:37 PM
So....I wanted to share my latest creation with you!  I actually made it last Tuesday afternoon/evening and have been using it all week, but I just got a new camera and have been too busy knitting and making costumes for Halloween and going to the Covered Bridge Festival to install the new software, but I got it done today!

Anyhoo.....TMI.....here is the bag:

Closeup of the material (I was so in love when I saw it!!!)

So...that's it!  I used a pattern (McCall's M4936) as a starting point, but I added material to the top and bottom, changed the handles and lined my way, so really it was just an inspiration.  I don't do patterns too well!  LOL
2  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Discussion and Questions / overdying on top of pink tie dye??? on: September 24, 2007 08:04:39 AM
I haven't dyed anything in eons, but I really really REALLY need two red baby sleepers (like a long-sleeve onsie with feet) for Halloween costumes for twins (Thing 1 & Thing 2) and I can't find any ANYWHERE!  Not in red and not in white!

What I was able to find were cotton sleepers that are tie-dyed pink.  Will I be able to overdye these with red dye and have them turn out solid red?  I hope so!  The feedback or opinion of anyone with any know-how or experience would be greatly appreciated!
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / GO COLTS!!! (Part 2) on: January 30, 2007 09:34:51 AM
Okay, so I sold the first bag https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=148490.0 and I made another.

I really love the football handles and I think this bag is the BESTEST!!!  Indy is BLUE crazy (all the time but especially now!) and everywhere I went people commented on the bag!

And here is what my dad did to show his loyalty:

GO HORSE!!!!!!!!  GO BLUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is one of my COLTS handbags that I made this week to show my INDIANAPOLIS COLTS pride!  GO BLUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the material that the other bags are made from.

Everyone around town loves the bag and so do I!
5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Another one... on: January 14, 2007 10:49:33 PM
well, I was a little keyed up still from watching '24' two-hour premire tonignt, so I made this handbag when I got home.  I used peltex for the first time and I'm really not too sure what I think yet.  It is pretty stiff right now, but I think that with time it will soften and shape up nicely.  ***crossing fingers***

Here is the front of the bag:

And the backside:

And here are closeups of the materials:

My mom didn't like that the fabric is upside-down on the back, but I told her that is how you can spot a fake Louis Vuitton, so it shall be for me too!  Wink  LOL

Overall, I think it's a pretty cute bag and I love the material which I got at Hancock for like $2 a yard.  I love FABRIC!!!
6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / My newest creation... on: January 12, 2007 10:31:53 PM
OMG!  So excited!!!  I just finished the cutest tote bag for the little girl I nanny for (she's turning two!) and it is soooo adorable:

I am having her name embroidered on the front of the bag in pink tomorrow.  Can't wait to give it to her at her party!
BTW...sorry for the bad lighting and in the pics and I promise that the bag isn't so wrinkley - like I said BAD LIGHTING!  But I was too proud of my bag not to share.  What do you guys think???
7  CRAFTSTER CRAFT CHALLENGES / Craftster Craft Challenge Theme Ideas, Etc. / Not sure... on: January 07, 2007 08:04:11 AM
...where to post this or if it's been done before, but I think it would be cool to do a challenge where we all take the same thing (my idea is this cute $9 polka-dot tee they have at Wal-Mart right now) and see what we can do with it.  What kind of recons, repurposed, whatever.  I'm sure it's been done, but I haven't seen it and I wanna do it!  Anyone else wanna go for it???
8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Simplicity 5 for $5 on: December 02, 2006 01:12:16 PM
So...I went to Jo-Ann and took full advantage of the 5 for $5 today and I got five patterns.  Here is a list of my loot:

-I got 4015, which will be my Halloween costume next year (it's never too early to start planning!) and I think I'm gonna transform it into Rainbow Bright, Patty O'Green or Pippi Longstocking.

-3964 This is a really cute dress/shirt pattern that I want to make in a thick jersey or sweatshirt material to wear with leggings or straightlegs and boots.

-4111 Another Built by You pattern for a shirt.  I wanted thishttp://store.sewingtoday.com/cgi-bin/voguepatterns/shop.cgi?s.item.V8155=x&TI=20011&page=2 Vouge pattern but in a long or 3/4 sleeve version and I think I can pull it off with this!

-4226 How cute will this be for going out and such?  Also a good alternative to the Vouge pattern (above).

- 4435 I love handbags more than anything and I adore the little bag with the heart picture frame.

All in all I am so excited and it looks like my wintertime sew-in is well in order!  Sorry I couldn't link to pics of each pattern, but the Simplicity sitehttp://www.simplicity.com/index.cfm doesn't allow that!
9  CLOTHING / Clothing Sewalongs / New Look 6620 on: November 16, 2006 07:53:49 PM
Okay...so I bought this shirt pattern tonight (it was like $3.50):

And here is the fabric I bought ($2/yd. @ Wal-Mart): http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/9598/picture001bi2.jpg  The fabric isn't ribbed - it just sorta looks it when scanned.  Also, the contrasting fabric is a solid royal blue like in the pattern.

I plan on starting this in a week or two (may wait until after Thanksgiving & after I finish my swap.) and I'm gonna do shirt D only I'm gonna prolly do the sleeves a little different 'cause I don't like to wear those tight bands on 3/4 sleeves or long sleeves.  They'll probably be a 3/4 version of shirt A.  Anyway...anyone wanna make it with me???
10  CLOTHING / Shoes: Discussion and Questions / Uggs on: November 10, 2006 11:34:46 AM
So...I know they aren't so 'in' anymore, but it gets so cold here in Indiana, plus my job as a nanny isn't so glamourous and all...having said that, I wanna makeover my Uggs.  They are the original tall ones in baby blue and I really don't like how tall they are and are planning on cutting them down like the new the shorter version that they make now. Do you think they will fray?  I mean, it's leather and all and I think the cut will be clean-ish.  I also am going to paint something on the heel.  What kind of paint will work on suede?  Should I use a selant?  I dunno...please help!
