1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Where to find glass trinket boxes? on: July 19, 2013 01:27:15 PM
Anyone know where on the web I could source a handful of glass jewelry/trinket boxes?
Making wedding party gifts for a friend's wedding so it would be great if they matched.
Something like the photo sans unicorn etching.... basically brass and glass, all clear, maybe a little smaller than a tissue box, rectangular.... not too demanding this bride Smiley
2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: What else can you use resin molds for? on: September 01, 2010 08:25:59 AM
basically, if your molds are the semi-transparent plastic most resin molds are made out of- they will have flex. Which means you need something that cures to a rigid shape- if the piece flexes too, it will be harder (or impossible) to pop out. Plaster, casting plastics... or resin! And I am sure there are materials out there I don't even know about that cure to a rigid state. If you want to imbed, I would recommend epoxy resin.

7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Discussion and Questions / graduated, faceted rondelles, maybe quartz. chalcedony? on: September 03, 2008 09:49:53 AM
I need help. My friend has a very specific necklace design that I would like to make for her wedding-- and I have been looking everywhere for a strand of graduated, faceted chunky colorful gemstone beads to make it for her. I have looked on etsy, ebay, googled, etc. It can be quartz, chalcedony, anything with a color that really pops. The only other place I have found this sort of thing is at a trade show. Does anyone know of a secret supplier? I know they exist, there are necklaces on etsy with the exact sort of thing I am looking for.....
8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Using bead caps/filigree pieces with non-round beads? on: July 27, 2008 07:59:05 PM
Hi- so I have some beads that are rough cut carnelian. They are kind of rounded discs, and the holes are really jagged and ugly where they are drilled. So I thought i would spruce them up and got some "filigree" bead caps-- meaning pieces that are flower or leaf shaped that are flat that I thought I could bend down so that they sit pretty flush to the bead. I was wondering if anyone has any words of advice-- I know people use filigree pieces to wrap stones and cabs, and I am not having much luck with mine. They either look crappy and not bent right or I don't get them to bend flush to the bead. I was just wondering if there is a technique or tactic for more successful.. filigree.. bending.

OKay, so I don't really know if this is a pistol, a revolver or what. But it is a shabang necklace. I made the first one at a craft sale and traded it away immediately with Snew- another lovely resin artist. Hers was pink with a teeny white pearl. I am going to be making more of these.....

comments and suggestions welcome!
