I love the bark -- nice job!
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Design help: Ferdinando Sarmi copy on: November 26, 2007 04:18:00 PM
I am in LOVE with this dress, but I only have this pic to work from:

Anyone have a clue about the construction going on here, or key style adjectives I could search for for hints?  Anyone seen a pattern remotely like this?

Thanks!

looks great!  your raglan is so neat.  any secrets?
4  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Best Friend... Vest! on: October 25, 2007 12:27:51 PM
I put on my sleeves and took them off twice.  They just weren't flattering, so I decided to turn my cardigan into a vest.  I haven't added any borders to the arm holes yet, which I plan to do, but here are some crappy action shots of how it is so far (sorry for the lack of detail):

There are a few more pics of it from that night on my dance troupe's site, http://www.guerrillagogo.org, if you pull down the "more" menu.

Hopefully that helps some of you who have also been feeling that your BFC arms look like sausages being pushed thru a chainlink fence!  Wink
5  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Aran Sweater on: October 25, 2007 11:39:18 AM
I just got back from Ireland and my inner-knitter is demanding some action.  Anyone interested in joining me in this pattern?

I've done sweaters before, but this is a whole new level for me and I don't want to go it alone!

so when we attach the big hole at the bottom to the dress part, the 4 inches on each side is to make the hole size match the hole from the tube dress part?

because obviously since it's laid hotdog like along the dress part it'll be much longer.

the error in those instructions is obviously that she gave no measurements for anything, but then there's a 4" measurement to sew in the sides.  really that number should be based on you own proportions, as with the size of the rectangles.

a more accurate instruction for the "hot dog" rectangles would be to subtract half the measurement of your underbust from the length of your rectangle, then sew in half of that amount on each side.

you could make it the lid to a jewelry or notions box.

post an edit for us when you've figured out what to do with it!  Smiley

im a confused about the elastic part, i dont understand why you would sew it when it's stretched out all the way.

elastic has to be sewn while stretched so that it gathers the fabric when it is released.  if you sew elastic onto fabric without stretching the elastic, than all you're doing is attaching a band; it won't change the shape or the look.

hope that helps!
