31  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Red Sparkly Awesomeness - Wedding Invitations on: April 02, 2009 05:30:57 AM
Posted this on the wedding board but since it's a papercraft figured I would post on her for all you fine folks to see.

Below are pictures of our wedding invitation.  I stamped and embossed the front and added the gems.  It was my first time embossing and I think it turned out pretty good but it sure was a mess to do.  I then just tied the ribbon in a knot.  A bow just wasn't going to give me the feel I wanted.  The inside is just printed out on our printer and cut out with decorative edge scissors.  Luckily I only had 23 to make becuase my hand was sore after cutting these out.  The enclosures are held in place by the ribbon.  The top one is the directions and some other information for our guests such as dress, pictures (our guests will be our photographers) and our guestbook which will be a scrapbook that we are asking them to bring pictures for. Oh and the picture on this is the barn we are getting married in and where the reception will be held.  The RSVP is just a card with a fancy border.  Since it's just family we've ask them to either call, email or respond on our website.  Saves the extra stamp.  So what do you think?

32  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Latest News / Re: 4/1/09 - Macrame is Back-rame! on: April 02, 2009 05:04:10 AM
Hmmm....changing the focus.  I hope all the current boards stay in place.  That's what I come here for and spend hours sometimes going through.  I'm not a huge macrame fan.

Oh and I don't like the new avatars one little bit.  I like being able to personalize my avatar to what fits me.  I've got some funky cheerleader.  Definately not me.  Please go back to allowing personalized avatars.

Geez, posted this and now my avatar is kooky flamingos.  Not enjoying this part of the change.
33  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Red sparkly awesomeness - Our invitations on: April 02, 2009 03:11:45 AM
I've been a member of Craftster for some time and reply to many posts but this is my first official one.  Just had to share our wedding invitations.  Compared to others on here they are pretty simple but I love them.  They came out just like I'd hoped.  Our wedding will be very small, around 55 people and just family so I only needed to make 24.  It will take place July 18, 2009 in a refurbished barn in our hometown so it's informal. The invitations reflect this.  It's going to be so much fun and will fit us perfectly.  Of course I'll post pictures after.

Here is the front of the invite.  I purchased blank red cards and stamped and embossed the front.  That was a messy process and it was my first time embossing so I think they came out pretty good.  I then added the rhinestones and the lace.  Sorry about the glare.  It's much prettier in person.

Here is the inside with the enclosures.  It's pretty simple.  I just created a document for the text in a nice font and printed it out at home.  Then used decorative edge scissors to cut them out.  My hand sure was sore after that.  The ribbon holds the enclosures in place.  The top one is the directions and other things our guests need to know.  The picture is of the barn where we are going to get married.  On the back is information about dress, pictures (our guests will be our photographers) and our guest book which will be a scrapbook I'm making and we are asking everyone to bring a picture of themselves or one of us with them.  I'll post pictures later of the scrapbook.  The RSVP card is just really simple.  Since it's all family we are saving ourselves the extra stamp and just asking everyone to call, email or use our website to RSVP.  It was a lacy border around it and I just printed them off on cardstock 4 to a page and cut them apart.

Let me know what you think!  Thanks for checking them out.

Too funny.  Love it!
35  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: wedding hair styles? on: March 31, 2009 07:52:04 AM
Congrats on your wedding!  I'm getting married in July also but I have the opposite problem with a hair style.  My hair is short and straight.  I've been growing out all the layers for several months now but I have no idea what to do with it past tucking it behind my ears and maybe adding some fancy clips or a flower.

For a summer wedding I like your hair up.  You would be much cooler and it looks really pretty that way especially adding in flowers.  My daughter has hair like yours and it's natuarlly curly.  She is going to go to her hairstylist to get hers done because I have no clue how to put her hair up past a ponytail.  She is going to be my maid of honor.

Good luck with your sytle.  It will be beautiful any way you do it.

Because I like to share below is a picture of my daughter and I in our dresses.  Minus all the finishing touches like shoes, jewelry, make up etc.  Please excuse the dark picture.

I love the simplicity of it and the sparkly stars add a nice touch.  Great job!

Gotta say I love that dress and below is why.  Please excuse the not so good picture.  Plus I need different shoes.  I'm getting married July 18 in a refurbished barn and I wanted something nice but simple.  To me lace was the ticket but I preferred a tea length dress simply because of the setting.  Well, I found this online at David's Bridal for only $149 so I ordered it.  It's funny that it's just like your pattern except short but it has the sash and I'm using a pearl broach from my grandma on the sash.  Good luck with your dress.  I would have loved to make mine but I'm not much of a sewer and my mom wasn't up to trying to fit something.

40  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: The Crafty Wedding Craftalong! on: February 23, 2009 01:04:08 PM
Okay, I guess I need to join this list.  We got engaged just after Christmas and our wedding will be July 18, 2009 in our hometown.  We rented a refurbished barn that is part of the parks system for the ceremony and reception.  It's really pretty and outside of town so we can have everything open and won't have a lot of town commotion to distract us.  We will only have about 50 guests, all family and working with a small budget.  Here's what we have planned and the few crafty items I'm making.  Oh and did I mention that I'm marrying the guy I had a huge crush on in high school.  It's so great!  I can't wait!

- One of my relatives is a minister so he's agreed to marry us and is donating his time since we are family.  We will put the ceremony together ourselves since it's not in a church or anything there is no decorating involved.  Just set up the chairs.  There is a wall of really cool murals in the barn. The photos below are taken from the park website.

- Red checked table covers tied at corners with white lace ribbon left over from invites

- White lace placemats

- Red plates (purchased at WalMart at Valentine's day for $1 a pack - bought 2 different sizes enough for 80 and only spent $8 - what a deal)

- Blue/green glass jars for M&Ms (got Valentine's Day ones on clearance), Skittles and either mints or nuts for each set of tables (purchased at Old Time Pottery - love that place - 50 cents each for small jars and only $1 each for the tall ones - spent $9 - another great deal)

- Flower centerpieces - Finally decided the flowers for the table are wild daisies in small terra cotta pots.  Already have the flowers.  Just need to get the pots and everything else to put them together.

- Also having buckeye nuts scattered on the tables.  It's a surprise for my fiance who is a huge Ohio State football fan and thought this would be a cool way to bring that in without it staring you in the face.

- Invites - handmade by me and done - will post pics as soon as I take them

- Guest book - currently in process.  Making scrapbook pages and asking our guests to bring a picture of them with one of us or of their family and add it to the book along with a note.  I have the scrapbook paper mounted to the chipboard and now get to have the fun of embellishing each page.  This is my most expensive project.

Other Stuff
- Have my dress shown below.  Please ignore the so-so picture.  Changed what I'm wearing.  Here is a picture of me and my daughter in our dresses.  This is without all the finishing touches like shoes, jewelry, make up, hair.  I'll carry some red flowers for a pop of color and probably have my daughter carry a red and white bouquet. Will have to see what I can find.

- Wedding bands - already purchased and put safely away.  Ended up not being able to find a band to go with my engagement ring so I'll wear it on a different finger and we got matching wedding bands.

Now for the fun things we are doing.

- Food - pizza from the local pizza shop which is my fiance's favorite pizza.  It's going to be a riot to have the pizza delivery guy show up with the food.  Everyone will love it since they are all pizza fanatics.  Plus we plan on having a salad and a brand of potato chips that is also local and a favorite of both families.

- I'm going to ask family members to make pies instead of doing a cake.  We are having a "pie"  reception - get it - pizza pie, pie for dessert.   Smiley

- Music - still undecided on what I want to do for walking up the aisle.  I do know though that after we are pronounced man and wife I want the Ohio State fight song to play.  It's to be a surprise for my fiance and again, everyone will get a kick out of it.

Wow!  Didn't think the post would be this long but that's everything in a nut shell.....or should I say Buckeye nut shell!  I'll post other pictures as I get them.  Comments and/or suggestions appreciated.
