1  First quilt! in Quilting: Completed Projects by ohmymetro on: July 11, 2012 05:55:02 PM
I finally got some pictures of my first completed quilt!  I used this tutorial from crazy mom quilts (one of my favorite blogs!).  I only have two pictures and none of the backing unfortunately, but I'm very happy with how it turned out (except the binding...I tried to do it all on the machine because I'm lazy...it's less than perfect).

Now I'm hard at work on my second!  Smiley

2  Another Stashbuster! in Crochet: Completed Projects by ohmymetro on: July 09, 2012 06:12:39 PM
I used 5 hexagon motifs from Beyond the Square: 30, 35, 37, 48, and 50. Ive slightly modified some of these, to make them closer to the same size.  I think all 5 different hexagons are shown in the last picture.  The border is two rows of hdc.

I used entirely stash yarn (mostly Impeccable with some Patons) and only purchased 1 skein to finish the borders.

66 completed hexagons and 11 finished skeins!  It's about as big as my full size mattress!  Smiley Smiley

3  Chalk Bags in Knitting: Completed Projects by ohmymetro on: March 30, 2011 12:34:02 PM
I imagine these would go here as they were first knit and then felted...

My friend and I go bouldering about 4 times a week and neither of us wanted to shell out the money for a chalk bag.  I found a pattern online and then tweaked it and tweaked it until I was happy.

Here are the results:

They work great and we get loads of compliments on them at the gym!

Thanks for looking  Smiley

4  lil flower afghan in Crochet: Completed Projects by ohmymetro on: January 11, 2011 06:28:02 PM
This is my take on the Lil Monkey Afghan in the Happy Hooker.  It's made for my step sister who is maybe halfway through her pregnancy, in the colors she is using to decorate the little girl's room.  The flower squares are an edited version of motif #114 in Beyond the Square.

Pics!  Smiley

5  Re: Fiber Friday January 7, 2011 in Spinning: Completed Projects by ohmymetro on: January 07, 2011 04:50:17 PM
I finally get to contribute on a Fiber Friday! Gah I'm so excited. I just started spinning a few months ago, these were all done on my drop spindle however my wheel has been ordered and will be here in about a week! Yay!  Onto pics..

not quite finished here, but I just hung it up to dry out...

All were hand dyed by myself...I think I did all of these using a crock pot.  I love the purple but am so-so about the green and yellow.

6  some finished hoops.. in Needlework: Completed Projects by ohmymetro on: December 19, 2010 06:20:41 PM
I made these two hoops as Christmas presents.  Both are Urban Threads patterns which I love!

Maneki Neko for my Grandfather and his wife on (or in..? neither really make sense) a 7" hoop wrapped in red and white ribbon.  Backstitch, satin stitch and french knots were all used.
The fabric is linen from the remnants bin at Joann's and sadly, this was the last of it  Sad.

Autumn Tree from my Grandmother in a 6" hoop wrapped in red and white ribbon.  This piece is all backstitch and the fabric was a fat quarter.

This one was a little more difficult that the lion, and (although I love the finished project) the pattern was not my favorite.    Lips sealed

10  First tries spinning! (img heavy) in Spinning: Completed Projects by ohmymetro on: November 30, 2010 02:42:49 PM
so I completed my first dying projects last week, now it's time to show what became of them.

i'm not very impressed with my first attempts, but i like my second and third. the problem is i didn't really spin enough yarn to make anything! so now i don't know what to do with it..haha

onto pics!

this was my first attempt. i don't have a better picture of it, but it was realllly not great Smiley i like the colors though!

my third batch of dyed roving:

(i don't know how you guys twist them into those nice little braids, so i just made mine into a ball)

second and third attempts (the roving above is the bottom skein):

the colors on these really are this bright. i have no idea how i made that happen though!
