1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Re: New resin thread on: October 31, 2019 09:36:52 AM
You've got me thinking now.  Grin How about filling the two part mold with clear glass beads or something similar?

Ooh, neat ideas!
The castting two one sided halves sounds the most doable. Put smaller one inside the other, fill space with resin-use a mold release, or something resin won't stick to. Repeat. Join halves with a bit of resin applied with a foam brush?
*just what if-ing here, have not tried it*
Resin mache is interesting me now.
I've poured/brushed resin over paint pour canvases, boxes, and filled pendant molds, and brushed it over mosaic, but that's about it. I'm in the middle of prepping trays to use for making a geode look with resin.

This also looks nifty! https://www.reddit.com/r/ResinCasting/comments/c3wyik/little_freeform_resin_bowls_reminds_me_if/
I have no idea how the clear thread would work, but I'd love to see it if you try it.
Oh! Use clear wax paper for the paper mache!
3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: Zero Waste Frugal RRR Craftalong on: August 29, 2019 10:27:36 PM
When I was little, we were in a rural area with no garbage pickup. Food scraps-added to the dog's food. Vegetable matter-dumped on the garden. Had a burn barrel. Trash emptied into that and burned. Had a bucket under the sick for glass and metal cans. We'd  rinse the can, take off the tops and bottoms, place inside the can, step on the can to flatten it to save space. Dump bucket into another outside barrel when full. When that barrel and the burn barrel were full, they were dumped into a sinkhole.
Parents were soo glad when the area grew and they got garbage pickup!

I loooove thrift stores, and the Habitat for Humanity store. Clothes, and a lot of my crafting materials.
I do need to be more frugal/less waste...I know there'll be good ideas in this thread!
