1  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Minnie Mouse Costume on: November 03, 2013 11:52:35 AM

This past weekend my local lolita community had a Halloween meet, so I decided to make a lolita Minnie Mouse dress as my costume! I altered a bodice and sleeve pattern for the top and I drafted/draped the skirt, collar, waistband and bows on my own.

I managed to crank this out in just a couple days and I'm really happy with how it turned out. This is by far the most comfortable lolita dress I own!

3  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Britney Spears Toxic Flight Attendant on: November 04, 2012 05:08:29 PM
This year my friends and I decided to all be Britney Spears from the Toxic music video (since she has so many costume changes). I decided to do the flight attendant version!

The hat, dress, and bolero are all made by me. I even made the little pin on the hat! This costume was pretty fun to wear out on Halloween and people who recognized it were very excited Smiley

4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Swan Wedding Dress ~ Inspired by Bjork! on: December 16, 2010 11:45:46 AM
So ever since I made my first Bjork swan dress https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=310476.0 I've been getting requests to make more!

This one is a special custom order for someone who wanted it to wear as a wedding dress! I really love how it came out so I thought I would share it Smiley

I altered it from my original version by making the dress longer, adding a satin bodice and making the swan neck out of faux fur. The dress is fully lined and the bodice has boning. It even has a bead for the eye!

I hope you like it!
5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Mori Birds and Leaves Dress (Lolita OP) on: May 04, 2010 11:29:37 PM

I bought this fabric back in March for my birthday. I have been putting off making anything with it because the weather where I live has been less than springlike. Well, the weather hasn't gotten any better, but maybe now that I have a new dress to wear it will get warmer Smiley
I fell in love with this print the second I saw it but didn't really know what to make until just recently. I ended up making a Lolita style one-piece dress since I had never made one before and I wanted to try it! The lace looks kind of black in the pictures, but I actually dyed it a dark brown.

Here are some pictures of the details:

Close up of the lace on the sleeve

Close up of the bow and waistband

The back shirring

How the waistband attaches

The lace at the hem. The lining doesn't peek out at all when the dress is worn, only the lace.

The dress inside out.. Almost fully lined. I wasn't sure how to do the sleeves at first, but since I made this I think I have figured it out.

Close up of the shirring lining.. I definitely need to get more serger colors, so that the inside looks nicer!
6  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Industrial Dress Form- Any recommendations? on: March 07, 2010 03:09:48 PM
I have decided that I am the point where I would like to invest in a real dress form.. I have been fussing with adjustable forms or cheap mannequins for a few years and they just don't compare to the quality industrial forms that I used to use in school.

I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations for websites where I can order an industrial dress form? Any advice would help greatly (about brands, websites, quality, etc).

7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / My Winter/Spring clothing line photoshoot! [img heavy] on: January 10, 2010 07:06:00 PM
Yesterday I did a photo shoot with my friend to show off my new items for Winter/Spring. I think it's important to place your work in context, so she is wearing other items than just my handmade pieces. I made the skirts and dresses she is wearing and coordinated each look. I also did the photography. My friend did an amazing job modeling!

A couple of these may be repeats- but I thought it would be nice to post the whole shoot together :3

The pink dresses and skirt are made of a fabric that I designed and had printed by Spoonflower.
All of my handmade garments are made from patterns that I draped/drafted. If you have any questions~ feel free to ask Smiley

8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Can anyone recommend a hat knitting pattern? on: December 07, 2009 11:58:12 PM
There's this hat that I really want to make for my boyfriend since I was unable to buy one when it came out (and now they are all gone!)..

Here is a link to the store blog with pictures http://bf-jingu.jugem.jp/?eid=1152

I normally don't use knitting patterns and I'm not sure how to go about finding one that is similar.. so I thought I would ask and see if anyone could recommend any.. or recommend somewhere to look?

If anyone has any advice on how to make the ghost face that would be great too.. I have an idea, but suggestions are very welcome!

9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Winter Garden Lolita JSK ~ I designed the fabric & it was printed by Spoonflower on: November 25, 2009 12:42:53 AM
I got this design http://rocknostar.deviantart.com/art/Winter-Garden-139281402 printed by Spoonflower on Organic Cotton Sateen fabric. It was $27/yard.. but I think it was definitely worth it! I changed the colors of the design a bit on the Spoonflower website before ordering, so that's why the colors are not an exact match.

EDIT: Today was sunny so I took some pictures outside!

Here are the original pics I took:

I really love this dress! I created the entire pattern Smiley I draped the bodice and the skirt is just a gathered rectangle.

The dress is fully lined with anti-static lining.. Kind of a pain to work with. I had to switch to a much smaller needle to that I didn't snag it. I was too lazy to switch back and forth and ended up breaking 3 needles.. One of which actually hit me in the face when it broke off. o.O I learned my lesson!

I even made a head bow to match!

And here is a pic of me wearing it in the stacks at my old school

I'm so excited about this dress! I am planning to wear it to a craft fair I'm participating in soon Smiley
10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Pastel Bustle Skirt with Lace on: November 12, 2009 05:19:29 PM
Here is another new skirt. It didn't come out exactly like I thought it would, but I really like it Smiley

It is all rectangle pieces of fabric gathered at the waist. The back is gathered by 3 elastic band in channels on the waistband. I hope you like it Smiley
