I recieved my package from Demekah! I have a lovely tray with owl decoration, a hand made owl rubber stamp, a cute picture frame (got a bit bashed in the post, but can be fixed), and a lovely bag with an appliqued owl on the front, here they are:

3  Sock Monkey Quilt! in Quilting: Completed Projects by almostexact on: September 11, 2008 01:29:15 PM
This is my first completed quilt... I have started two others but never quite managed to finish them off  Embarrassed I haven't managed to keep the thrill of starting ongoing through a big project before, so this is a real first for me!

I made the quilt for my Dad's birthday, and I can't wait to give it to him.  I really hope he likes it!

I used Moda's Monkey'n Round charm packs and some Aunt Grace 1930's repro fabrics for the star blocks and simple red and white dotty fabric for the sashing and backing. I pieced the quilt by machine and then hand quilted it using perle cotton. I used Hobbs heirloom batting to keep the quilt traditional looking and drapey.

Here is the full quilt:

And here is a detail of the quilt draping nicely:

And a detail of one of the blocks:

Comments and criticisms appreciated!  Smiley

'Babs' (aka Barbera) made for my friends 24th birthday - complete with little gingham dress:

Babs having a nice sit down:

Ivan (his favourite film is Deer Hunter):

Kolo (made for my friend's girlfriend):

What do you think of them all? I love making monkeys, they're so much fun  Grin

5  Re: Sewing Kit Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by almostexact on: August 04, 2008 11:19:38 AM
I'm glad everyone likes the kit I made  Smiley The tortoise fabric is from a Japanese Fabric shop called NuNu Plus (they have an eBay shop). I'm really glad ErinyWeriny liked it too!

Here is the AMAZING kit I recieved today from ErinyWeriny, that, when I opened it I exclaimed with absolute joy!:

A beautiful card, featuring a lovely Owl:

And then, on to the kit:

And a closer look at the little fellow:

Isn't he just adorable?!

And inside the kit:

Check out all the threads - perfect for all my mending needs!

Plus! There is another little guy to look at:

I love this SO much! Everything about this kit is very me - I cant believe how Erin nailed my tastes so well  Grin

I love the fact this kit is like a little 'file' and the zipper goes all round the outside, meaning things can't fall out when I'm out and about and there is some space to keep small projects inside when I'm on the move.

Just amazing!
