**SQUEALING WITH DELIGHT**  Huge Miyazaki fan and I'm drooling over this bag.  I've turned my 3 year old dd into a Miyazaki freak, too.  Her fave is Howl's Moving Castle Smiley

woooow!  I love it!!  I had Rainbrow Brite everything when I was little.  It looks like you bought it from Toys.R.Us.  I'm not sure I would carry it myself (you know, age appropriate stuff a la what not to wear) but I could make one for my little cousin.

Does Joann's have that rainbow fabric and rainbow webbing?  The webbing is such a nice touch.  Woo for you!!  And your daughter for having such a cool mom.

That bag is adorable...and really well made! I bet your daughter loves it too Smiley

What kind of material is the pink fabric?

You can get everything for this bag at Joann's or Wal-Mart.  The rainbow and hot pink fabric are just plain qulting/apparel cotton cloth.  I used interfacing to make it sturdy.  The webbing (strap) is sold by the yard.  Paid about $1.39 for a yd of webbing and $3.00 for the rainbow fabric.  Had the pink fabric, felt, and bias tape onhand.  The hardware I salvaged from an old bag.

I love the way this turned out, just wish I had interfaced the loops that anchor the strap to the bag.  They're so flimsy compared to the rest of the bag Sad

Thanks, for all the sweet comments.  You've all really made my day *BEAMING*

aww cute! I didnt even know rainbow bright was still around! Smiley

Yup, me too.  You could've knocked me over with a feather when I saw them on the shelves.  I had Red Butler and Rainbow Brite when I was around 5 or 6.  They also have Strawberry Shortcake, My Little Pony, and Care Bears.  Talk about nostalgia.  I wanted to buy one of the SS dolls just so I could smell it Wink

Oh, I love this!! So much that I'm going to lift the idea Wink  My dd is learning how to tell time and it would be such a fun project to "make" this clock together.  I know she'll be tickled to see her artwork in it.  Thanks for the inspiration Smiley

I was wandering through Toys R Us with my 3 year old dd a few days ago and she went gaga for the Rainbow Brite toys she saw.  Well, the creative wheels in my head started turning and we headed to JoAnn's.  4 US dollars and 4 hours later (we still had to go grocery shopping Wink ) this was born...

My dd adores it.  She wore it the next day to her play date and was proudly telling everyone that "my mommy made it for me".  Several of the moms offered to pay me to make one for their dd's and one wanted a larger version for herself.  I politely told them no (too many projects right now) and directed them to JoAnn's and Craftsters...shameless plug for my all-time favorite site  Grin

Love both, but I'm drooling over the couture and the fact that you have a serger Wink
79  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / Re: what are the rules on banknotes in art work? on: April 13, 2007 12:54:01 PM
From what I've read...  It's okay if you're not mutilating or defacing with the intent to defraud.  We've all seen those souvenir machines that press coins.  Those machines thoroughly destroy the monetary value, but it's legal because the owner does not seek to pass the coin off as another form of currency or denomination.  This is standard in most countries.  If you're still not sure check with your country's treasury website.  Hope that wasn't too confusing Wink
