1  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / What printing companies do you use? on: December 11, 2007 12:54:30 PM
For awhile I have really been wanting to get some nice-quality art prints made. Does anyone have a company they can recommend? I've searched online a bit but I seem to find companies that either do cheap promotional printing or really really expensive art prints. I know lots of people sell prints of their work on Etsy for reasonable prices. But where are they getting it done?
2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / copper-coated leaves on: August 10, 2007 02:34:10 PM
I have seen a lot of people selling jewelry made of real leaves or whirly-birds, etc, somehow coated in metal. Does anyone know how to do this? They are really pretty.
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / my first vaguely successful sewing project on: March 09, 2007 04:32:47 PM
I got a bag of karate belts at the thrift store, and I cut the black belt down and made this cute belt for myself. I am extremely new to sewing... my machine was a total bad-mood impulse buy recently, so I've been mainly sewing away without making anything useable. But this turned out decent, though I need something to actually wear it with.

This necklace sparkles a lot more in real life...

Vintage Owl Charm:

This charm has been sitting around FOREVER and I finally decided what to do with it. I really love the way it hangs:

These are also a lot more sparkly in real life. Does anyone know what the gold stuff is called? I'd like to get more.

And a couple more pairs of earrings:

some stuff I made on my day off this week: 2 necklaces and a pair of earrings.

a cute little flower pin, it originally had a cross dangling from it, but the loop was broken, so I added chains and stuff.

An elephant necklace made from an old wooden rosary (as modelled by my teddy bear, muffy):

And this one didn't need much work, I did shorted the chain quite a bit, and add the little dangly bit to make it more feminine:

i probably should have taken a before picture but I didn't think of it at the time... I got this cool vintage necklace at the thrift store. When I got it all the white parts were hanging vertically from two white chains. I took them apart and laid them out in a more abstract pattern, added the gold chain and little pink beads, and reconnected one of the chains to the opposite side so it would cross over. The pictures aren't great but I like how it came out. It's huge and funky.
That second pic is to show how it actually hangs with the chain crossing over.
