1  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / bday explorer dress! on: April 30, 2008 09:27:14 AM
It was the boy's niece's bday recently. and since i've taken it upon myself to adopt his family and intrude on all their family activities, and because she's the cutest human baby thing i've ever seen, i thought it was fitting to make her a dress.

i had this really cute fabric that i'd bought last summer that i've been trying to find something to do with

i made it a bit big so no pics yet of her wearing it. it was some mccalls pattern. or simplicity...i think mccalls...
anyway uber easy. and i actually took the time to do blind hems since it was a gift

i got lazy with the buttons and tried to use my machine. which would've worked if i hadn't stepped on the foot pedal and snapped the button. sigh

button close up (i like them; i think they match nicely. though it was a hard choice between these and hot pink ones):

2  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Completed Projects / snakier than thou! on: April 30, 2008 09:18:19 AM
sooo the boyface loves snakies. and is really into snakey skelingtons of late
and was having a terrible time going to school so i thought i'd make him a congrats! half way done! package
I made him 3 snakey shirts (and cupcakes but i ate those so...yeah...)

the day before i gave them to him he showed up wearing a new snakey shirt he had just made...i was unimpressed

here's one of them. i like this shot too it's very 70s rock in my mind

4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / tank top - yeah thats right i'm pretending its summer on: March 29, 2008 04:17:43 PM
sooo it's end of maaarch and there's quite a lot of snow on the ground. like a lot. like i tried to put out the compost today and the bin is buried under 3 feet of snow. but spring is coming! i know because the car on my boyfriend's street that actually was so covered in snow that all you could see was one side mirror? well i can see part of the hood now! it's rusty.

but yes anyhoo i decided I really wanted tank tops anyhow. and i found an awesome simplicity pattern. I am too lazy to turn around and get the number for you however so yeah...

I originally made this pattern in a really nice ribbed pink fabric. twas beautiful and i was in love with it. but for some reason when i washed and dried it it grew like 3 sizes and now doesn't fit me. it was a depressing discovery.  The next one i made (the one photo's here) is nice but the material is a tad clingy so...need to fix my leggings (why WHY do pattern companies size things so so weirdly. their idea of the standard woman is just creepy. why WHY would I have a 20" waist and 10" ankles!?!? HONESTLY!)

my cat's ass as he licks the soap (I have no idea)

my standard "i don't know what to do with my arms....oh god i'm awkward" pose. seriously what do you do with your arms?!?!

close up of ruching on the collar. I was pretty proud with how that turned out

5  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / stupid fabric question - can you use any kind? on: March 17, 2008 05:46:42 AM
yeah as teh subject says, can you use any kind of fabric for a quilt?
can you use a mix of fabrics?
why is there "quilting" fabric if you can?
what what!??!?!?!

oooooh my heeead so confused

7  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / share your low fat/low cal vegan recipes! on: August 01, 2007 11:24:58 AM
share all your yummy fat free/low fat/low cal vegan recipes here!!!
or websites you know that have great ones Tongue

liiiike www.fatfreevegan.com
though i prefer her blog because it's things she's made herself and there are photos

here's my recipe to share. it's actually adapted from this delicious recipe: http://veganvisitor.wordpress.com/2007/07/04/asparagus-quiche/
my version:
1 Package, Firm Silken Tofu
2 Tablespoons Tapioca Starch
1 tsp Curry powder (1.5-2tsp if you'd like a curry flavour - which is very good as well, add a bit and then taste, repeat)
2-3 Tablespoon Nutritional Yeast Flakes
3 cloves of garlic
1/2 teaspoon Salt

I added in spinach, cherry tomatoes, black olives and mushrooms sauted first and then stirred in and I didn't use any crust.
cooked the whole thing at 350 for 25minutes

it works out to be like 70calories for a 1/4 of the pie or something like that. yum

9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / what happens when angels don't come? on: July 22, 2007 07:10:07 PM
hey i'm an organizer and posted requesting for an angel and no one is answering the call
what have other organizers done in this situation?
10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / orange my one and oooooonly i can't wait till i wear yoooou agaiiin (IMG heavy) on: July 19, 2007 08:26:14 PM
aw so my fridge broke and flooded my whole kitchen and all i had to clean up the whole mess was one small not very absorbant sponge
but BUT i did not freak out or even get upset and for me that's a huge HUGE deal because I cry over EVERYTHING

i'm going to thank my recent sewing spell for my new zen

this shirt I made I drafted the pattern myself. It's my first time drafting a full bodice and my first time working with jersey. it didn't turn out fully wonderful - there's a gap in the back neck and i don't know why. and the hem band thingie didn't work that great and it's a bit too loose at the bottom and the cowl isn't draping all that wonderfully but I like it Tongue

my superhero pose

dark and flashless I know. i'll fix the levels tomorrow. i need to sleep before 12 tonight. can see the cowl better in this one

it's weird because as I took the pic (and this happens often) i had a clearly perceptable smile on my face, slight but still there yet in the photos nothing

as always comments appreciated and i'll love you forever for them (and just for being you)
