12  BLOOD soaked recons! bloody image heavy in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by bombgirl on: June 03, 2007 02:44:05 PM
So a bunch of friends and I were making our way down to see Evil Dead: The Musical. and of course we got seats in the splatter section

so I just had to make an all (well mostly) white outfit for the occassion
and being me (ie a disorganized procrastinatron) I had to make it the night of (!!!)

didn't get as much blood on it as i wanted so we were going to go see the musical again (ok not JUST for that reason) but they bumped the ticket prices up to 40$ each and well...that's just not happening right now

here it is after the show...

the space bunny made me pose like that i swear!

me thinking

the ties

the "ruched" side (both sides are like that)

I was going for a 50s style thing with the top. i'm pretty happy with the result. the skirt was make from the only huge white tee I had which unfortunately had an arrow pointing at my ass and the word "accelerate" across it. sigh. it's redeeming features are the kangaro pouch in front and drawstring waist

well sadly my package to happy hooker got lost in the mail so i'm going to make her another one

here's the one i did make her (my photos aren't great because i was lazy and hoping she'd take better ones)

the maynard doll with removable wig and clothing. he's wearing tighty blackies under the pants and i stitched the tattoo on his back. oh yeah and he has wire throughout him so he's posable

the wristlet - the lining was cool space print fabric

wrist cuff - the close up of the stitching detail

and finally: the sleeping mask with her fave lyrics written on it, lined with the space fabric

14  soft, fuzzy and pink! in Quilting: Completed Projects by bombgirl on: May 06, 2007 08:10:45 AM
I made this for a swap - she wanted a soft heating pad cover with a hole for the cord to go through
it's my first quilted thing (only other quilted thing i've done was some blocks for another swap)

close up (i love the owl fabric - so cute!!!):

i drew these both a while ago
the writing on the first one are lyrics from a tool song
it says "this body holding me/reminds me of my own mortality/embrace the moment/remember/we are eternal all this pain is an illusion"

here it is up close

16  my denial that spring ran away = summery dress! (photo heavy) in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by bombgirl on: April 15, 2007 07:06:57 PM
ah denial is a wonderful thing. sometimes...other times it makes you really cold...but it's the principle that's important! like not letting yourself give in to it being cold again!

so i made this dress from pattern Simplicity 4994. and let me tell you, they have SERIOUS issues with sizing.  i made the pattern to my measurements and it ended up being 4-6" too big! so i put in serious, poorly planned darts and redid the front part of the bodice.  i clearly did something wrong and now it's weirdly wrinkly...i added to ribbon to help give a bit more shape and hide some of the shoddy dart job...otehr than the wrinkles i like how it turned out. hopefully the thing will stay up...on the plus side it gives me a cleavage which i otherwise would really not have...

i tried to get rid of teh wrinkles by loosening the darts but that just made it worse.

please excuse the uber weird faces i was making, it was awkward taking photos that i knew i was uploading here...there's also threads hanging everywhere but i really hate cutting them all off...probably should try to do that as i'm sewing it so it's not such a task at the end...

it's a cherry blossom design. felt flowers with sewing machine wannabe embroidery for the branches

my first button holes ever. they were hard. very hard. hence the pink ribbon (i had to redo them haha)
