21  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: April 2010 Birthday Swap Discussion and Gallery on: April 03, 2010 07:22:25 AM
I just posted my list.  I felt like I worked so hard on it last night, and it's kinda skimpy.  I'm going to check out some former month's lists for inspiration..
22  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: April 2010 Birthday Swap on: April 03, 2010 07:20:54 AM
My name is April (yes, I was born in April) and this is my second annual birth-month swap!  I'm 26 (or as I call it, 4 years to 30) on April 3rd.  I live in Wisconsin with my gun-loving husband, hilarious 8 month old daughter, 2 crazy dogs, and got a new baby coming in August.

I'm in my last year of college for Art Therapy, I love knitting, crocheting, quilting/sewing (though I'm not too skilled yet), watercolor, scrapbooking and up-cycling for the most part.  And when I have the time mixed media, collages, jewelry making, found art/crafts.

A few themes I generally love:
(any kinds of crafts/supplies inspired by these would be cool!)

-Hello Kitty

-"Vintage" video games (Mario, Princess Toadstool, Tetris, etc..)

-Johnny Cash

-ABC inchies or ATCs!  An inchie for every letter of the alphabet, with no actual words used, but can use pictures that start with that letter (this is for my daughter, so it would have to be mostly appropriate) Wink

-Cloth pads (I have a snap press, so if you just want to make them winged, I can put snaps on myself)

-ANYTHING for the kiddo: baby leggings, embelished onesies (size 12 month), felt food, stuffies, etc. (Thank you Noobina for a Stuffie and something wisty!!)

-Fabric inserts for my mei tei.  I made this awesome mei tei in black, and the panels can be made with a fat quarter (and 2 strips of the soft side of velcro)

-Pregnancy goods, soft cloth nursing pads, tee-shirt extenders (about size L, really quick and simple from this tutorial any colors), etc.

-Long, tubular rice bag, with added lavender for scent

-Pin up girl hand towels (see wists for examples)

-Swiffer (Wetjet) covers! Cloth/knitted/crocheted, anything goes!

-Anything from my wists http://wists.com/apriljean

-"postage stamp" (2.5 inches by 2.5 inch) fabric pieces, as many as would be equal value  Huh

-India Ink

-paper punches

-Plastic pom-pom maker

-Any quilting instruction books/patterns, the more basic the better

-Undyed wool

-Poppet "skin" fabric, enough to make 1 Poppet

-Needle felting starter kit

-Ribbon rolls

-Circular knitting needles (I don't know what sizes I have, so any size, any length)

-There are a lot of ravelry patterns I would want, ones that cost, so if you add me there (username: aprilnight) my wished for patterns are in my "favorites"  if you have any to share, or want to gift any pattern, that would be sweet

-Black scrapook paper/cardstock

-A yard of "monster fur" type fabric

-Plastic bangles

-Army/Deployment/Baby Girl/Cheerleading/High school scrapbook materials

-Back issues of Knit.1 Magazine (anything after Summer 2007), Crochet Today (except Aug/Sept 2006), Bust or Mothering

-I never met a chocolate I didn't like

-Rice Krispy bars (even the generic brand!)

-Aero bars (I will love you forever!)

-Any Hello Kitty scraps of fabric or paper

-Nag Champa insence

Thank you and Happy Birthday everyone!!

YES!!! I finally have a few minutes to get to post my pics!! Princessblueberry is a GREAT partner, and never disappoints!!

First: She made 2 big ziplocks full of awesome fudge!! Obviously, they didn't make it to the photoshoot Smiley too yummy.  So much so that one of my dogs got into some *facepalm*

Here are my boys begging for their actual treats, some bone shaped faux-chocolate chip treats!  Icky (the black one, my baby) is sticking his tongue out for it.

Baby leggings!! I love these, they're so handy.

Action shot of the happy bunny leggings!  And the cute crochet bib (I crochet too, and have never made a bib. But I will now, it is really absorbent!)

Another action shot of the leggings.  And I like to share my smiley Lila Smiley

Strait of my wists, the greatest circular knitting needle holder ever!! It velcros shut and even has a velcro pocket!  Love it.

Cloth diapers!  They are almost too gorgeous to use!!

Another one straight off my wists, a beautiful scarf holder!  Now I can hang them up instead of them being balled up in the mud room.

(My pictures are all sorts of out of order) Not 1, but 4 pretty stockings!!  I can't wait to display all of these!

And the etc.  There is a scrapbook, lots of hello kitty things (happy meal toys, stickers, a dry erase board, winter gloves), crochet flower pins, 2 beaded necklaces, and all sorts of paper goods and ATCs, I have been dying to make some!!  My glass of juice also ended up in this picture  Huh

I forgot to get a picture of the carseat cover, also a wist, and the most awesome thing ever!  I'll try to get one soon Smiley

Thank you so much J Darling!! I love everything, and so happy to have you as a partner!!

Checking in! Picked out a bunch of store-bought stuffers today.  I've been crafting when I've had time, I just need to get my hands on a large FRB to see where my progress REALLY is..

I'm still plugging along, but the coolest thing happened and I had to share!

My dad always goes to auctions and will buy boxes of (essentially) junk for like $1 each.  Sometimes he ends up with something really good like jewelry, antiques, tools he needs, etc.

I was rifleing through a bunch of books and found something absolutely perfect for something my partner wants, just wayyyy tucked inside a box of books.  I'm not going to say, cause I want to keep the surprise, but it worked out so well!!  I'm so excited!

So very cool!!  My husband would absolutely LOVE one of these!!

One question: is the book real? or a crafted fabrication?

Stocking 1/3 completed
1 item fully completed
1 item of a super-multi part project completed

It feels like I'm really far behind, but I'm gonna go crafting crazy during babygirl's nap time Smiley

And I am definitely not a "Do not open `til Christmas" kinda girl.  Wayyy to impatient.
