271  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Making slippers non slippery on the bottom on: October 04, 2006 08:19:52 PM
I'm a big fan of puffy paint, too, it makes a great non-slip surface, comes in all sorts of colors, and you can go wild with the designs!  (it also works for grips on the insides of gloves and mittens)
272  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / Re: Unseamly Sweater from Happy Hooker on: October 04, 2006 06:11:02 PM
I've started this one in an acrylic worsted weight yarn for a christmas gift (yay wool allergies! I can't do anything in sheep-products)  I've finished the front, and following the directions, the top shaping of the V-neck looks a bit wonky, but it looks like it'll work, at least mathematically it calculates... I'm just hoping it'll be okay when I finish the back and do the seams.

I'm definitely going to do the sleeves as a tube (hooray hating seams!) and I'll let you know how that works out for me as soon as I finish the top back.  Should only be another day or two (I have WAY too many x-mas projects going on right now)

I know I don't know you, but as a direct result of this sweater and posting the chart, I officially love you forever!!

I'm such a video game fangirl, it's sad...

I too suggest the to dye for sweater, I'm knitting it up fairly quickly for a christmas present.  Oh, and for a cheaper yarn alternative, it only takes two skeins of red heart symphony yarn, if you stick with the size 13 needles.  The shaping is very easy, and because of the larger needles, it goes fairly quickly.

Good luck!
275  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / Re: Pets or weird people doing weird things to your craft.... on: October 02, 2006 03:54:46 PM
My house rabbit gets awfully jealous when I try to knit during a time she arbitrarily determines is 'her' time, and will steal the knitting needles, pulling them right out of the work-in-progress and hiding them!  I've found no less than four needles hidden either under my bed (reachable to me only by a broom) or somewhere in her cage.  The little stinker also thinks it's funny to jump on the ends of longer straight needles when they're wiggling in the air as I knit up a storm.

She's an angel compared to my dog, though, who will open my knitting bag, steal whatever skein of yarn I'm pulling from, and run across the room with it.  Once he managed to get it tangled around the bottom of the rocking chair while I was in the bathroom!
