1  Re: Doctor Who Swap Round 3 Gallery!!! in The Swap Gallery by threeara on: August 10, 2010 04:21:50 PM
YAY I'm so glad you like everything! And that little Rose and Ten are going to a happy home. And that you like the Fob Watch--I'm beginning to think I want to make another for myself. (Don't worry, the Doctor is safe!)

Also, if anyone wanted to a slightly better view of Rose's hair...

First off, a HUGE thanks to aliceownsj00, who not only organized this swap (!) but sent me some pretty awesome goodies, too.

Here goes:

First off, a River Song-inspired journal. I LOVE journals, and the paper is brown and sort-of eco-friendly looking, and I already want to write in it. Plus, it's got a TARDIS-inspired design. What's not to love?

Second, a T-shirt so I can "show off [my] bowtie pride."  Grin I didn't get an action shot, but the bow tie is painted right along the neckline, so it looks like I've got one on. It's sort of incredibly dorky, but also adorable. I kind of adore it--though I worry about cleaning, since it looks like acrylic paint? Does anyone have suggestions about that?

Thirdly, a TARDIS key of my very own--it'll be a nice bookmark for the journal until the Doctor arrives.   Wink

Lastly, a bracelet stolen, I believe, from Madame Du Pompadour! It's very fancy, with a little clockwork charm and everything. My wrists are freakishly small, so it doesn't quite fit, but it DOES fit perfectly as an anklet.

(Action Shot)

Again, THANK YOU aliceownsj00!!! Everything is super-adorable, and I can only hope you like what I made you in return about half as much as I love these.

(Everything together)

3  Knitted Dr Horrible Toy in Knitting: Completed Projects by threeara on: July 01, 2010 05:51:39 PM
This is a bit belated, but I recently completed a Whedonverse swap and this is what I sent out:

It's a knitted Dr. Horrible.

I made gloves, boots, goggles and a lab coat, and the undressed doll matches Billy's outfit in "My Freeze Ray." The hair's not a dead-on match, but I wanted it to stick up when you put the goggles on.

Sorry the photos aren't great!  Tongue

Received! DesignVigilante managed to cover ALL of my favorite Whedon shows, despite illness and everything. And I can see why the crafting took her a while, because this is impressive.  Cheesy

First up, for Buffy, is a little  mirror from etsy. It's got an image from Season 8 (which I'm happily reading right now) on the back. I don't have a little compact mirror yet, so it's perfect.

(I had trouble getting the best pic ever, sorry!)

And it came in a lovely little bag that reminded me of the 1940s.

Next is a STAPLE craft of the Firefly fandom. : )

(It's the Jayne hat, just in case you can't see the image!)

And then finally, PENNY's WRISTWARMERS. Which are just lovely, and look at the buttons!

Thank You Thank You Thank You, DesignVigilante! Everything was lovely, and the swap was just a lot of fun. : )

5  Collage series--final format? in Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions by threeara on: May 07, 2010 10:25:07 AM
So I've been working on a collage series entitled "13 Scenes of our Usual Bliss" for a little over 2 years now. And I finished all 14 collages...but now I don't know what to do with them. Should I just leave them be and hang them somewhere? Or put them together in a book? Or something else altogether?

(I like idea of a book, but there are only 14 of the collages, which seems like a fairly skimpy book to me...)

Here are a few sample collages from the project. None are over the size of a magazine page, and 1 is a greeting card:

Any ideas what to do with these?  Undecided

P.S. Sorry about the camera glare on some of these...

6  Doctor Who DALEK scarf (with pattern!) in Knitting: Completed Projects by threeara on: May 03, 2010 09:42:46 PM
I made this for a friend last holiday season, but only got to uploading the pics from my camera recently. I knitted this on size 9 needles, with Caron Simply Soft in red and black (my friend's favorite colors).

and here's what it looks like on (there's a dalek on each end of the scarf!)

based on THIS pattern: http://www.entropyhouse.com/penwiper/who/dalekcloth.html
and my variations:

*pink = knit in red

I didnt know how to fair isle when I first started the scarf, so the back was rather messy. I created two red blocks that did weigh the scarf down/flatten the ends rather nicely, but in the future Id probably knit a second black scarf, or an inverse-colored scarf with red and black swapped to mask any messy stitching on the back.

The ugly backside:

What do you think? Also, if you decide to make one, please let me know!  Grin
