1  Summer hat for my Mom in Crochet: Completed Projects by sonnetbird on: July 01, 2008 10:28:53 AM
I've been doing a lot of crafting for my mom lately Cheesy
Here is the latest:

Not really in shape here, but we were on the road and I was happy to finish it. It's all Peaches n cream cotton, white, except for the band, which is a multi with purple, lime and aqua. I lost the label somewhere along the way so I couldn't tell you the exact name. Pattern came from somewhere online, I printed it out before I left, but it was confiscated by my Gramma to use when we were at her house. So I can't tell you that either. I'm just overflowing with lots of help today!

3  Re: Friends of Craftster Raffle Swap FOCR Gallery in The Swap Gallery by sonnetbird on: June 30, 2008 11:59:27 AM
I got my surprise! On a Monday! I am super thrilled Smiley It was like my birthday, only 4 months early!
This was one of my favorites:

The gorgeous bag by audio-astrophysics

It's a little wrinkled from the journey, but I couldn't wait to post, so I'll do the pressing later Smiley

This was such a great, fun swap, and I will most likely sign up for any future rounds Smiley

4  Re: Friends of Craftster Raffle Swap FOCR (Signups CLOSED, Sendouts 7/2/08) in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by sonnetbird on: June 20, 2008 12:09:28 PM
Now that I'm back home, I finally finished something that I can hold on to until I mail it out to the "winner" Cheesy I thought a trip back home would be a great chance to craft, but so did everyone else Wink

Here are two pairs of earrings, one for day and one for night (or casual and dressy)

Hope they make someone very happy Smiley

I've asked sonnetbird for her help in posting pics.
Thank you sonnetbird for the flower-filled package!  Everything will be treasured and well used  Cheesy

WHEW! *Wiping glass beads of sweat from my brow*
I am so glad you liked everything, sonjabegonia!
Here I am as requested to help with the pics Cheesy
The notecards ~

The bookcover/tablet holder ~

Purchased journal ~

And the item  I may duplicate for my own guest room, the beaded violets ~

I was worried most about this one, I hope it arrived intact and not too squished Cheesy

I got my package from Sonjabegonia, and for a first time swapper, she sure has it all together! This was my second swap, and I still feel like I'm fumbling for "creative fluency." And time - no one needs me until I sign up for something (like a swap) and then everyone wants my attention all at once.

So, without further delay, here are the items that made me misty eyed ( high hormone levels Cheesy ) and my own commentary for my thought process.

First thing I pulled from the box, was the card, which I opened last, and thought it was so cute, fit the swap theme perfectly!

Next was a small tissue wrapped bundle that contained paper she sent form a trip to Bangkok, makes me wish I could travel more! I can't even get into Canada now without a passport. Has anyone ever wisted a passport???

Then I pulled out the painting - a gorgeous iris on its own tiny canvas. I've never had any paintings made just for me, so this is really special. I think I'll put it in my bathroom behind the mirror so I can see it every morning when I put in my "eyes" and brush my teeth.

Out next was a miniature gift bag with 4 brightly colored plastic canvas stitched coasters. I was thinking they'd be perfect for all the glasses that constantly migrate around the house and leave rings everywhere, but now I'm thinking about framing them. They're too pretty to stain with milk, or tea.

The last thing I removed from the box was a crisp white tote bag, embellished with a brilliant red rose right on the front. She also added a trim all the way around the top. It's so pretty Cheesy It will now be my van/grab bag for those projects on work on when I'm out and about, like embroidery, so it's just perfect.

Thanks for everything Sonjabegonia, I absolutely loved swapping with you Smiley I hope your box and items get there intact and soon!

7  Cedar Feeder Lamp in CHALLENGE 27 ENTRIES by sonnetbird on: May 04, 2008 07:49:45 PM
My inspiration for this lamp came from my desire for a bird in the house. I love birds, my hubby does not. So I made a little nice feeder into a lamp, and imagine the birds I could feed Cheesy

Start with a cedar bird feeder and extra hand

Make a few modifications to the mini fowl-food holder

Find a place to hang it, and admire your work...

Decoration optional, go with your heart Cheesy Mine said "Natural," but I may add a bird at a later time, if I can bead one up that I like, maybe a blue jay, wouldn't that look stunning against the copper of the lamp?!!! The warmth of bulb causes the scent of cedar to fill the room, and is such a wonderful extra to this project.  Cheesy Thanks for looking!!! Kiss

8  I need color, your opinions, some new ideas! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by sonnetbird on: April 30, 2008 01:05:14 PM
I've been at a stand-still with this purse for a while, and was hoping for some ideas. I'd like to add some color to this, but none of my own ideas sit well with me.

A new one I've thought of is some small painting around the edges. Anyway, I'm not quite sure. It still needs a closure, so maybe I could incorporate color that way?

So anyone have an idea???

9  Garden crib quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by sonnetbird on: April 22, 2008 10:27:03 AM
My objective for creating this quilt for a custom order was to capture the essence of a rose garden. I really love how it came out, but as I was packaging it up I thought, "Gee this looks rather Christmassy"

Everyone loves it, but next time I will use different colors together Cheesy

A matching nap-time companion, no buttons or anything, safe for teeny-tiny's

Thanks for coming to see!

10  Macro Photo Challenge : Happy Accident in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by sonnetbird on: April 21, 2008 03:35:08 PM
I've had this challenge in the back of my mind since it started, since I'm always looking for any excuse to pull out my camera.

Anyhow, my pins toppled over, they're on a magnet holder, and I thought, "Hmm, wonder how close I can get?" And here ya go!!

I give you my 'Happy Accident'
