1  Re: One Sheet Wonder Card Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by gala_apples on: Today at 12:08:24 AM
I gave in and got a Flickr account, I miss craftster too much to not post stuff.

Averia sent me the same batch that she sent Dinkime, and since Dinkime already has lovely pics up, I'll not do duplicates. But these are what Dinkime sent me:

plaid and cute animals, it's everything I could ask for! Not pictured-- she also sent me a cool pair of shoelaces.

2  4 Swap Hoops (and a bonus) in Needlework: Completed Projects by gala_apples on: May 20, 2018 10:15:13 PM
I've semi-recently started getting into making embroidery hoops for swaps. Nothing too complicated yet, I pretty much only know one stitch, but I like how things have turned out so far.

Stranger Things hoop:

Feminism & Diversity hoop:

Woodland hoop:

Box of Colour hoop:

and finally, a hoop I made for Thimbles71 because I love swapping with her, and am excited she's healthy again:

Sorry for the late reply, my new job struck me down with a cold the day after I started there, this week has been just about trying to stay alive.

So I had this old old package of plastic, binder subject dividers, from back when I was in high school. I'm sure they still sell them, at least in September. It's pretty flimsy plastic, thinner than the plastic most store bought stencils are made out of, so a large stencil might not work (not to mention you're limited to 8.5x11 anyway) but mine was fine.

I printed out the image I wanted on normal printer paper, then put it underneath the plastic and traced it with a sharpie, then used an exacto to cut it out, being careful to leave bridges.

The paint is just the standard 'craftsmart' Michael's store brand. I do like ceramcoat acrylic paint best, but I don't have a store that sells it anymore, and I am always wary about paying online shipping. I mix it about 50/50 with delta/ceramcoat textile medium, which I can only get online, but it's only 10 bucks on Amazon, and the only textile medium my Michael's sells is freakin' 30something.

Thanks for all the questions, I hope this explains things a little better.

Thimbles71 sent me the BEST PACKAGE EVER, OMFG.

....warning, we're both into adult musicals, so that comes up.

First, a shirt from the Book of Mormon. Hasa Diga Eebowai is one of my favourite songs from the musical. The shirt itself is safe, but if you want to listen to the song on Youtube, wear headphones!!

Second, a fantastic art quilt for Hedwig and the Angry Inch. It's from the song Origin of Love, which is a theory that everyone has a soulmate, and they'll complete you like they're part of your own body.

Third, she sent me a bunch of TM Patches. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH. I don't know what I'm going to make with them yet, but they must be featured prominently! She somehow custom printed a bunch of fabric, the background of Hedwig patch is incredibly cool, so many references!

RENT, and Hedwig and the Angry Inch

Rocky Horror, and Book of Mormon (my second favourite song, about how "easy" it is to stop negative thoughts)

Lastly, my most 'bizarre' favourite musical is the Southpark musical movie. I love it so much. Thimbles made me two printed fabric magnets based on favourite scenes/quotes of mine.

Big Gay Al, and Cartman's swearing. It's deceptively plotty, actually, the whole movie is about the dangers of purity culture and censorship. The swearing is something Cartman picks up from a movie he watches, and because he swears his mom makes him get brain surgery so it physically hurts him to swear.

Thimbles, you super outdid yourself. This is a spectacular package!!!

My two most recent TM Patches. The newest fabric is the orange with confetti on the edges of the elephant, and that was from a 'design your own shoebox dream bedroom' project in grade 10, fifteen years ago.  Cheesy

7  Sagittarius shirt in Stenciling: Completed Projects by gala_apples on: May 11, 2018 09:04:53 PM
In the recent Astrology swap, I made my partner a Sagittarius shirt. I printed off the design, then cut it into recycled plastic, and then stencilled it a dozen times. I think it came out quite nice.

I got a lovely box from TOAJ the other day, but life has been a rush of multiple interviews, so I'm late posting pics.

I was highly unspecific in my colour choices. I said, blue, green, purple, or orange, you decide. What TOAJ decided was \o/ All The Things \o/

green and orange gum, and a TM frog patch with all colours

two purple zip bags

blue and green socks! They're very stretchy.

green and orange slippers. I love these the best, they're very cozy.

Thanks so much TOAJ for the lovely package!

In continuing with destashing old fabric of my mother's for the monthly challenges, I found this deep plum velvet, and made a shirt.

It's not one of my favourites, it must be a different type of velvet because it's oddly heavyweight as compared to the rest of the box of velvet. But it's nice enough, and is a little dressy, if I ever have official-type stuff to do.
