21  Circus Dress! Throw me some peanuts! in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Ninja_Poo on: April 20, 2008 04:12:59 PM
I needed a dress for a recent wedding, so I purchased a XL men's shirt from the local salvation army, cut it up, sewed it back together and ended up with this (I'm not sure why, but it makes me think of the circus):

The buttons in the middle of the bows were my little brother's idea (he's a genius!)

Sadly I didn't finish in time for the wedding, and so I wore it to school last week.  I got a lot of funny looks  Grin.

22  '50's Housewife Apron in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Ninja_Poo on: April 17, 2008 06:40:22 AM
I am going to be volunteering for an annual food festival in June, and I am going to need an apron. Fortunately all of my aprons are both boring and gross, so I just had to make myself a new apron. With Ruffles.
I made up my own  pattern for it, then winged it from there. Here are some low-quality webcam shots of it:

It's so hard to take self-portraits with a webcam; I had to click the button, then jump back as fast as possible.  I think these two pictures were the best out of about a dozen attempts XD

23  Gray Flannel Party dress...Oxymoronica aplenty! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Ninja_Poo on: January 22, 2008 02:33:34 PM
So I Recently purchased my first pattern (Wal-Mart brand...Ew), and I wanted to make a party-dress for an upcoming new years party (either a tardy western new year or an early chinese new year.).  I didn't want to be overdressed as it's not that formal an event, so I used some gray plaid flannel for it.  This is the first time I've ever made a garment from scratch and I became intimately acquainted with my zipper foot...

Without further ado, here it is (please forgive the pathetic webcam action, my bf has my camera):

This picture shows the length of it (you have to kind of squint and turn your head sideways):

I still haven't hemmed it, because I hate hemming and I'm not really sure how to use the hemming foot...Can anyone explain how to use one?  Here's a (blurry) picture of it:

Comments and criticisms much appreciated!

24  Re: 2007 Costume Sewalong (All Costumes) in Clothing Sewalongs by Ninja_Poo on: September 28, 2007 04:30:33 PM
I'm working on a Boba Fett (Star Wars) costume.  This is the second year that I'm cross-dressing for Halloween...Anyways, this is what I've got so far:

The green parts were cut from a plastic trash can, then spray painted in layers with toothpaste used as a masking agent for the bullet holes.
The vest that the armor plates are attached to is twill, I quilted the sleeves (even though you can't see them...) and the neck-cover.
I still need to make or recon a jumpsuit, some knee guards, make a cardboard helmet and jetpack, make some guns, and miscellaneous belts.

Excuse the midrift; I had just finished hot-gluing the armor to the vest...Without wearing a shirt underneath...Sometimes I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed  Tongue

25  Mens XL shirt -->Hot halter dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Ninja_Poo on: July 18, 2007 09:56:28 AM
I got an XL mens shirt from the local thrift store.  I then hacked it up and sewed it back together as I went along.  This is my first time sewing pleats by the way.  It's too small around the bust, so I have to leave the top two buttons open in order to still be able to breathe...does this look too skimpy to wear in public?
Excuse the messy room and the tousled hair XD

Comments and criticisms are appreciated.

26  Orange fluffy boots in Shoes: Completed Projects by Ninja_Poo on: July 01, 2007 10:11:55 PM
I was so envious of Explodingfruit's amazing polka-dotted boots (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=159890.0) that I made myself a similar pair of boots.

It is ridiculously hard to take good pictures of one's own feet...

27  Wristlet camera case in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Ninja_Poo on: June 22, 2007 10:02:17 AM
I made another case for my camera, because I was unhappy with the poor craftsmanship of my other case.  This one is also made from a thrifted necktie (100% silk!).

28  Dolphin-y camera case wristlet in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Ninja_Poo on: June 20, 2007 09:22:45 PM
I just acquired a digital camera and figured that I needed a cute case for it.  The dolphin-y fabric was originally an old tie which I sliced up in the name of fashion.  I kind of made up my own pattern which didn't work out too well....Need I mention that this is my first wallet/tiny purse?

Comments, critiques and suggestions are appreciated  Wink

29  Re: Corset and tute! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Ninja_Poo on: November 07, 2006 04:51:36 PM
I just made a corset with your tutorial.  I'm pretty pleased with the results (despite the fact that I accidentally made it too small).

Here it is:

I made the corset out of two water jugs and fabric left over from my last 2 halloween costumes, the only thing I had to buy was a pair of eyelet pliers and some eyelets.

Great tutorial!
