1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: How to get knitting time and husband time?? Ideas?? on: May 01, 2007 11:50:17 AM
I totally understand, mod.  I didn't think before I posted it, and I guess it just seemed to me that it was a "knitting" thing.  But you're right, it's probably closer to a "personal" thing.  I was just surprised when so many people seemed to respond.  Grin
I understand if you need to take it down.  It's totally your choice.

HAHAHAHA!!!!!  Grin

These sugestions have been too great!! I told the hubby about this thread and he laughed.  I swear, he thinks I'm the only one in the world who crafts!  I've read him almost all the responses and he's laughed really hard at quite a few of them.  I'm so glad I'm not the only one with this problem.  Solutions:
(real)- one-person chair idea is something I never would have thought of, but DUH!!! great idea!
(imaginary)- tie him up with an i-cord while I poke (not too hard  Wink) him with knitting needles screaming "THIS HURTS DOESN'T IT?!?!! THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS TO BAD KNITTING HUSBANDS!!!"   Grin

** a plant sprayer may also be a VERY good idea!!

HAHA, thanks.  I tend to think that *everyone* knows what my redneck words mean.  Grin

Yeah, that's all I need.  Him hooked to WOW.  LOL  I have a friend who is in the process of trying to drag her husband away from it.  I'd rather not go that route if possible.  Wink

Though it would give me TONS of knitting time.  Hmm....

*considering options*

have2craft, I'm sorry you're missin' your honey.  Mine was actually just out of town not too long ago, so I guess I understand his need to "waller".

I love the suggestions, though.  The icord one is my favorite  Wink

He does this sneaky thing where he'll let me knit for about 10 minutes; just untill I'm thoroughly engrossed in it.  Then, he pounces!
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / How to get knitting time and husband time?? Ideas?? on: April 20, 2007 07:58:21 AM
So, this is my problem:
I LOVE TO KNIT!!!!  a lot.  My husband likes to "waller" on me.  a lot.  Don't get me wrong, I love him dearly, but how does one go about getting knitting time and fitting it into married/husband time?? It gets really annoying when I'm sitting on the couch knitting and he either leans back on me, tackles me, or just tries to waller on me.  He always ends up laying on my yarn and getting in the way of my needles, etc.  I'm always afraid I'm going to drop stitches and so I get upset.  Keep in mind, I try not to knit all the time.  It's not like he doesn't get any time with me, it just seems to happen frequently.  I pick up the needles and he has a sudden urge to cuddle with me.

Anyway, does anyone have any ideas to work these two things together??  Or just let me know if you've found something that works.  Do you have a set time to knit when you can't be bothered?  A certain phrase that sends them running??  Please let me know!!
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Any different kind of heel? on: April 20, 2007 07:13:26 AM
I'm a huge fan of short row heels.  For a good one, try http://knitty.com/ISSUEsummer06/PATTbaudelaire.html from Knitty.  I knit these socks and they are amazing!!  They turned out slightly large for me, so I *grudgingly* gave them to my mom.  The lace and cables are beautiful though.  Maybe a bit hard for a beginner, but if you're ambitious, you won't be dissapointed!

Mantra, you are THE craftiest of all.  The things you make always look so professional, but with your own individual touch.  I love it!  Keep up the great work and the awesome posts.

I would totally be into this.  I've been wanting an ATC swap ever since I figured out what they are!  Roll Eyes  I guess I'm a little slow sometimes.  Consider me in!  If it doesn't work out, I'd love to do a personal swap.
